I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 913 - 913 912. Blizzard Villa

Chapter 913: 912. Blizzard Villa Chapter 913: 912. Blizzard Villa “I’m not going.”

Lu Ban immediately said.

“An invitation to an isolated island is definitely problematic.”

“Indeed.”

Shia agreed.

“Blizzard Villa, trains trapped, islands hanging overseas, these are all perfect places for crimes to occur.”

“What are you talking about?”

Cui Siter didn’t understand.

“In detective novels, isn’t it common to invite a group of people to an island or a large family to an old man’s funeral in a remote villa, and then a disaster strikes, cutting off communication and transport, leading to a series of murders? The murderer and all the guests can’t leave, and the police can’t arrive in time, so they have to start deducing.”

Shia explained naturally.

“Uh, that can only happen in novels.”

Cui Siter somewhat realized.

“In reality, such situations just aren’t possible. Even if a typhoon hit, communication on such islands wouldn’t be cut off. In extremely dangerous situations where help is needed, rescue operations would definitely be carried out to keep the public safe.”

Hearing his explanation, Lu Ban felt much relieved.

It seemed that at least this world was logical.

“The couple has poor health, so they are recuperating on the island. They will provide the plane tickets and hosting services. I checked, that island is a famous tourist spot and it isn’t typhoon season there, so there shouldn’t be any problem.”

Cui Siter said.

“I’ll write a report, organize the materials these next few days, and then we can directly fly there.”

“Doesn’t that mean we could also do some sightseeing? Can I come along?”

Shia’s eyes lit up.

“Uh, you’ll have to ask your dad.”

Cui Siter rubbed Shia’s head and then looked at Lu Ban.

“It’s about time, go pack your things, and I’ll bring you along to meet the couple.”

“No problem.”

Lu Ban nodded and left Cui Siter’s office.

Although heading to the island felt a bit dangerous, considering his goal of trying to understand this world, he had to rely on these subtle connections.

Moreover, he had a feeling that the key to solving the problem was in this matter.

After all, this was the only source of pollution in this ordinary and common world.

Upon entering the reception room, Lu Ban saw Red Leaf and Amber chatting about something on their phones. He called out to them and then said,

“I might need to travel abroad in a couple of days. Take care of yourselves at home.”

“Abroad?”

Amber’s eyes widened, somewhat incredulous.

“Yes, I have to investigate a case on an island.”

Lu Ban told the truth.

“Then I want to go too.”

Amber immediately blurted out, grabbing hold of Lu Ban’s clothes as though if she didn’t, Lu Ban might never return.

“What’s this, where are you guys going on a vacation? No way, I promised your aunt and uncle I’d look after Amber. I’m going too.”

Red Leaf, not knowing the full story, also clamored.

“Uh…”

Lu Ban originally wanted to say it might be dangerous, but after considering, even if he said it was dangerous, Amber certainly wouldn’t let him go alone and would probably try to follow him anyway.

That would be even more dangerous.

It might be better to just piggyback on someone else’s ticket and treat it as a summer vacation.

“I’ll go ask Old Cui if he can bring two more people.”

Lu Ban turned back again.

“Are you really treating this as a summer vacation trip, even adding more people?”

Cui Siter instinctively refused.

“Or should we pay ourselves?”

Lu Ban said.

“…I’ll ask them, after all, they are the ones paying.”

Cui Siter still did not insist.

He could see that at least one of the two girls might have a strong dependency on Lu Ban, a situation he had previously only seen in some drug addicts, with severe withdrawal reactions.

If Lu Ban were to leave the girl’s side, it might actually affect the girl’s emotions.

Moreover, Lu Ban had just come out of a mental hospital.

Even though Cui Siter had not lived with mental patients, he knew that the torment inflicted on those close to mental disease sufferers was unimaginable, and even many family members of severe mental patients could easily develop depression, manic disorders, and the like.

Although the theory of mental illness being contagious lacks scientific support, mental illness does indeed tend to affect those around the sufferer.

A moment later, Cui Siter came back.

“…They said it’s okay, any number of people can come.”

“Thank you so much, Old Cui.”

Lu Ban couldn’t help but grasp Cui Siter’s hand.

Two days later, Lu Ban and Amber packed their things and, along with Red Leaf, arrived at Jiangcheng City Airport.

Similar to Lu Ban’s previous trip to Pohnpei Island, they needed to first take a flight abroad, then transfer to a nearby major airport, followed by either taking a yacht or a helicopter to reach the vacation island.

Sitting on the airplane, Lu Ban gazed at the blue ocean, uncertain about what would happen next.

Upon reflection, he could have chosen to lead an ordinary life in this world, and he might even have had a relatively happy family.

But he had chosen to continue investigating, even if it meant encountering pollution.

Next to him, by the aisle, Amber had fallen asleep, the long journey making her drowsy, her head drooping onto Lu Ban’s shoulder.

Lu Ban gently adjusted Amber’s head.

After a while, Amber’s head leaned back onto him.

Lu Ban continued adjusting it.

After all, sleeping in the wrong position could easily lead to cervical spine disorders.

Yet the little head still slowly slumped onto Lu Ban’s shoulder.

Lu Ban, helpless, could only fish out a neck pillow from his seat and carefully placed it behind her neck.

Amber was finally able to sleep upright in her chair without leaning towards Lu Ban.

He was quite pleased.

“Tsk.”

The sound of dissatisfaction came from Red Leaf behind him, Lu Ban figured it might be because the space was a bit cramped.

Although this was business class, it was only marginally more spacious than economy seats.

Lu Ban flipped through the airplane magazine, observing the scenery of the islands.

Islands in the ocean typically offered sunshine, beaches, and blue seas. Being near the Equator, they were also free from typhoons and enjoyed spring-like weather all year round, making them ideal for rejuvination.

Lu Ban was curious whether there were any ancient relics or strange religious structures here.

Unfortunately, there was nothing of the sort; it was just an ordinary island.

Once the airplane landed, Lu Ban and his group quickly arrived at the pier.

From the large island to the vacation island, one could either take a boat or a private plane. Although Lu Ban didn’t believe in curses of transportation accidents, he still felt private planes were unreliable.

Traveling on a merchant’s yacht, Lu Ban and the others quickly reached the small, hard-to-pronounce Pacific island.

Just off the boat, Lu Ban immediately saw a man and a woman standing on the pier.
