I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 911 - 911 910. Foreign Domain Second Law
Chapter 911: 910. Foreign Domain Second Law Chapter 911: 910. Foreign Domain Second Law From afar, Lu Ban glanced at the box stored in the warehouse.
In this world, approaching reality, such a pollutant possessed tremendous destructive power.
Previously on the internet, Lu Ban had read about monsters that netizens had imagined, some of which had the power of meme propagation. Simply put, they could spread not only through direct contact but also by visuals, sounds, and even names.
Though it sounded mystical, scientifically speaking, the spreading pathways of these monsters and anomalies indeed relied on knowledge—whether one saw with their eyes, heard with their ears, or merely knew a name, they would obtain relevant information, and with that, the corresponding pollution would naturally come calling.
Thus, here at least, Lu Ban had verified the Second Law of the Foreign Domain.
“What’s the First Law, then?”
Shia asked curiously.
“Pollution cannot be eliminated; only stronger pollution can cover weaker pollution.”
Lu Ban answered, looking at Shia somewhat strangely.
“Why are you here?”
“It’s summer break, and I had nothing to do, so I came over to help.”
At the police station, Shia was sitting in front of a nearby air conditioning unit, nonchalantly tugging at her shirt collar to allow the cool air to stream inside, rapidly cooling her down.
“Help?”
Red Leaf nearby didn’t quite understand.
They had come to the police station in Cui Siter’s car after Lu Ban was discharged from the hospital and had just met the newly arrived Shia.
“She’s studying psychology in college and sometimes comes over to help analyze some cases, uh, you guys mustn’t go around saying things like the police are leaking case files to college girls.”
Cui Siter cautioned.
“No worries, they’re both still in high school.”
Lu Ban pointed to Red Leaf and Amber.
Honestly, he didn’t want these two involving themselves in these dangerous events; unlike in the real world, this place’s Amber and Red Leaf didn’t possess the power to control Pure Fire and had no resistance against Pollution—they were merely ordinary girls.
“Both of you can wait in the reception room, or you can go home; I need to discuss some matters with Old Cui, uh, Officer Cui.”
So Lu Ban said.
Red Leaf glanced at Lu Ban, then looked at Amber.
“I’ll do whatever Amber decides.”
Amber looked at Lu Ban, hesitating to speak.
She tugged at the corner of Lu Ban’s shirt, gesturing for him to step aside.
Lu Ban followed her to a corner of the office, hearing Amber’s whisper.
“Will you encounter danger again?”
Evidently, she was deeply concerned about Lu Ban potentially fainting again as he had before; the sight of Lu Ban being lifted into the ambulance had nearly triggered her heart condition.
And now, as Lu Ban continued to investigate the matter, it was clear that danger was inevitable.
“Yes.”
Lu Ban spoke truthfully, knowing fully well that lying was pointless at this time and neither he nor Amber needed to deceive each other.
“…Then I want to be with you.”
Amber spoke after a moment of silence.
She didn’t stop Lu Ban because she well understood that facing such issues, Lu Ban could never choose to give up.
He had his own tenacity.
Thus, the only thing she could do was to accompany Lu Ban, even if it meant facing an endless abyss ahead.
“…”
Lu Ban initially wanted to dissuade her, but he also knew very well that whether this place was an illusion crafted from his memories, or some Foreign Domain, as long as Amber was still the Amber he knew, Lu Ban couldn’t possibly persuade her.
“Don’t go wandering off, you and Red Leaf.”
That was all Lu Ban could say.
“Okay.”
Amber nodded obediently.
Lu Ban asked Red Leaf to accompany Amber to the waiting room, then turned to Cui Siter.
“Uhh, by joining now, am I violating any rules?”
He gestured towards Shia who had fully recovered and was revitalzed.
“No worries, I can issue you a certificate for assisting the investigation, which will make you our witness.”
Cui Siter declared.
“That’s convenient.”
Lu Ban remarked.
“She was handled the same way, and this kind of investigative assistance allows for witness protection anonymously, so no one will come looking for trouble.”
Cui Siter pointed to Shia standing nearby, then pulled out a document bag and retrieved some old, aged documents.
“Some of the files were entered into the computer before, start by looking at these paper archives.”
Although paperless operations are encouraged now, ten years ago, many documents were still kept in paper form, and some transcripts and statements could be accessed at any time.
Lu Ban flipped through the files.
The couple who had lost their child seemed somewhat out of their minds; their testimonies were confused and needed repetitive confirmation and guidance to form logically coherent statements.
That made sense.
To lose one’s child so suddenly, especially in such a brutally dismembered manner, would drive any parent insane.
From these testimonies, the influence of the Jade Pendant on the couple was not evident.
However, as Lu Ban reviewed these testimonies and records, he found no description of the Jade Pendant.
While the records mentioned that the couple had lost several pieces of jewelry, the key term “jade pendant” was not included; it was as if it had never existed.
“Did they conceal the existence of the Jade Pendant, or did they perceive the Jade Pendant as something else?”
Lu Ban pondered.
Clearly, the Pollution inherent in the Jade Pendant was not something a normal human could handle; if the couple had truly made contact with the Jade Pendant, their mental state would be far more shattered than just losing their child.
“Where are this couple now?”
Lu Ban asked.
“They should have gone abroad by now. After leaving Jiangcheng, they settled overseas after two years. We’ve found their contact, but to avoid alarming them, we haven’t reached out directly.”
Cui Siter explained.
“Alarming them?”
Shia, who was browsing through the archives, glanced over.
Because Cui Siter’s phrase made it sound as though the couple were criminal suspects, and as a professional police officer, he shouldn’t be making such judgments so early.
“You’ve seen the effect of the Jade Pendant; it’s hard to imagine nothing happened while it was in their possession as a collectible, so there must be some hidden circumstances.”
Cui Siter explained.
“Let’s contact them directly.”
Lu Ban suggested.
“So direct?”
Cui Siter seemed somewhat incredulous at Lu Ban’s suggestion.
“If that really is a contaminate from Another World, then they would definitely want to retrieve it. There’s no reason for them to just run away.”
Lu Ban asserted.
This couple was either victims or informants. If the former, knowing that the perpetrator who harmed their child had been dealt with, they would certainly want to know more; and the latter, they would definitely be interested in the whereabouts of the Jade Pendant.
“Why do I feel like the more I talk to you, the more I believe there really might be Another World.”
Cui Siter muttered under his breath.
“Maybe there really is.”
Shia suddenly spoke up.
