I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 910 - 910 909. Im super brave

Chapter 910: 909. I’m super brave. Chapter 910: 909. I’m super brave. Lu Ban woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling.

“You’re awake? The surgery was very successful, you’re a girl now.”

A voice came from nearby, and Lu Ban instinctively looked down.

Thankfully, there was no second transmigration.

Turning his head, Lu Ban looked at the person beside the bed.

Red Leaf was peeling an apple, her skills were much better than Amber’s, not even breaking the apple skin.

Lu Ban watched Red Leaf finish an entire apple, just as he reached out to take it, he saw her bite a large chunk out of it.

“Both crisp and sweet.”

She commented.

The scene felt somewhat familiar, and Lu Ban didn’t quite know what to make of it.

But he soon realized something, his cognition had recovered.

At the very least, when he looked at Red Leaf, he didn’t see tentacles or a monster.

“Do you have tentacles under your skirt?”

Lu Ban asked, fearing Red Leaf’s hem might suddenly sprout several tentacles and tie him up securely.

“Get lost!”

Red Leaf nearly lifted her leg to kick Lu Ban but considering what was underneath her skirt, she didn’t go through with it.

“You faint in a police station, how capable is that?”

Red Leaf taunted him.

“I’m super brave.”

Lu Ban immediately replied.

“Forget it, better not to be brave in the future, Amber was worried sick. If she’s worried, I’m not at ease either.”

Red Leaf finished the apple, wiped her hands with a napkin, stood up, and pointed to the other side of the bed.

Lu Ban saw Amber lying on the other side of his bed, seemingly fast asleep from exhaustion.

“How long have I been asleep?”

He glanced at the bedside but couldn’t find his phone.

“About a day and a night.”

Red Leaf said as she was already at the door of the ward.

“I’m going to call the doctor over, ha—”

She yawned, muttering about how tired she was and stepped out of the ward.

Lu Ban didn’t wake Amber, waited for a while, and then the doctor came in with Cui Siter and Red Leaf.

This didn’t seem to be a mental hospital, just a common ward.

“How are you feeling?”

The doctor checked on him and asked.

“Pretty good.”

Lu Ban answered.

Amber then woke up, rubbing her sleepy eyes, a bit out of it, looking at everyone.

Everyone looked at her kindly.

“Huh?”

Amber immediately sat up straight and wiped the corner of her mouth.

“I didn’t, I haven’t.”

She defended herself, even though no one knew what she was denying.

“Are you really okay?”

Cui Siter asked, knowing that the two forensic officers hadn’t woken up yet, and the examination results weren’t optimistic, while Lu Ban seemed sprightly, as if he had just had a long sleep.

Could it be that mental patients are actually better at fighting those things?

He thought of the iron box that was still in the police station.

Following Lu Ban’s instructions, they had covered it with several layers, finally preventing any further incidents.

Cui Siter saw such a sinister thing for the first time; just one look could make people hallucinate and fall into madness.

Of course, he didn’t recklessly let people experiment, just waited for Lu Ban to wake up before deciding.

What scared Cui Siter was that the things Lu Ban talked about seemed to be coming true one by one.

After the serial killer woke up, he became completely crazed as if he had lost his soul, attempting to bite off his own tongue in an attempt to commit suicide. After being stopped, he was constantly in extreme fear, mentally collapsed, and unable to communicate.

It was as if meeting Lu Ban had completely wrung the last bit of reason out of me.

This kind of thing couldn’t be explained by science.

Could it be that the “Pollution” and “Foreign Domain” Lu Ban mentioned are real?

Is this world fake?

Cui Siter grew increasingly uneasy.

“No problem. It seems that even though it’s the same Pollution, its effect in this world is still slightly different. The Pollution from the Jade Pendant isn’t as serious as I had imagined.”

Lu Ban looked at himself, his limbs were all intact, and his internal organs should also be in their original positions, showing no signs of Mutation.

And his mental state was quite good; he hadn’t fallen into madness.

Either the Pollution from the Jade Pendant was just a Light condition, or the form of Pollution in this world was different.

It might be both.

It had been a long time since Lu Ban had actually come into contact with a source of Pollution that reduced his Sanity, so it was reasonable that his sensitivity to Pollution had become dulled.

What would barely tickle the past Lu Ban, capable of driving ordinary people mad on the spot, could now give him a real challenge.

“Did you guys secure that thing?”

Lu Ban confirmed once more.

“Yes, it’s in the warehouse. We’ve added several more layers around it, just like you said.”

Cui Siter answered.

“What the hell is going on here? I’ve never heard of anything that can affect people like this. Does it have radioactivity or is it chemical Pollution?”

He asked again.

Cui Siter knew that some heavy metals were harmful to humans and that long-term exposure could lead to manic episodes and depression.

Radiation sources could also cause physical harm and confusion of consciousness.

Furthermore, Lu Ban’s method of wrapping the Jade Pendant in an iron box to block its influence didn’t exactly dissuade people from associating it with a radioactive source.

“It’s ‘knowledge.'”

Lu Ban answered.

“In the Foreign Domain, knowledge is Pollution, and Pollution is knowledge. The Jade Pendant is engraved with the likeness of an Indescribable great existence from the Foreign Domain. When you come to know its appearance, Pollution follows.”

Listening to Lu Ban’s words, Red Leaf was stunned.

What puzzled her was that normally when Lu Ban said these things, everyone would look at him as if he were insane.

But now, Amber aside, this police officer was actually listening very seriously.

Was it not Lu Ban who had gone mad, but herself?

“This is too preposterous. If knowledge is Pollution, wouldn’t we be Polluted all the time while at school?”

Cui Siter found it unbelievable.

“Hasn’t the process of learning knowledge influenced your cognition?”

Lu Ban replied indifferently.

“The knowledge we learn is only fairly superficial and doesn’t involve the fundamental laws of how the world operates. This kind of knowledge’s Pollution is not fatal for humanity, which has been subtly influenced by it for millions of years.”

“That explains why I always felt dizzy and overwhelmed when studying math; I was polluted.”

Red Leaf couldn’t help but interject.

“That’s not the case; you probably just couldn’t learn it.”

Lu Ban immediately responded.

“…”

Red Leaf was momentarily speechless.

“Years ago, a merchant acquired the Jade Pendant from somewhere. Two thieves broke into his villa, stole the Jade Pendant, and were affected by it. The child at home was then murdered. Afterwards, the two thieves suffered long-term Pollution from the Jade Pendant. One couldn’t bear it and chose suicide, while the other turned into a serial killer until he was caught.”

Lu Ban briefly summarized the situation they had grasped.

“Indeed, that seems to be the case from what we have learned.”

Cui Siter nodded in agreement.

“But the trail stops here, er, or rather, the case should end here.”

He had initially been investigating a serial killer case; the Jade Pendant was an external matter. He couldn’t possibly tell the judges that the crimes were committed due to the influence of Pollution.

“We’re not done yet.”

Lu Ban felt that his thinking had become much clearer and more active after being impacted by the Jade Pendant. He looked at Cui Siter.

“Since the thieves were Polluted when they stole the Jade Pendant from the merchant’s house, why wasn’t the merchant who had collected the Jade Pendant affected?”
