I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 907 - 907 906. Just today
Chapter 907: 906. Just today Chapter 907: 906. Just today The interrogation room was dimly lit, with Cui Siter sitting in the shadows, watching the man in front of him.
This man looked ordinary, like any passerby you see everywhere. You would never remember any particular features about him after just one glance. In life, countless passersby like him floated away with the wind, and if it weren’t for sitting at this table, Cui Siter was certain he would never have any interaction with this man.
Yet, it was such a man who had committed numerous crimes—based on what the police had obtained, he had already killed six people.
Moreover, he didn’t just kill; he used various cruel methods to mutilate their corpses, as if conducting some sort of evil ritual.
If it hadn’t been for the clue provided by Lu Ban, he might have escaped again.
After all, who would have thought he would dare to steal someone else’s identity in broad daylight and swagger around the crime scene?
According to other employees of the agency, they had seen this man coming and going before, but no one cared about him, considering him just a newcomer. The indifferent social relations provided him with opportunities, so much so that this man had actually signed several rental contracts with clients while masquerading as a real estate agent.
Cui Siter had never encountered such a criminal before.
They had captured this criminal at the train station, where he had just arrived at his seat and was helping an elderly person lift a suitcase onto the rack when the railway police subdued him. The elderly person was still confused.
After entering the interrogation room, this man remained silent, showing no change even when faced with police and evidence.
You see, reality is not like novels and movies. The kind of person who is mentally strong and can even play games with the police is almost non-existent. Moreover, modern case handling emphasizes evidence, and it is not like foreign countries where suspects are apprehended without full certainty.
When in the detention center’s interrogation room, faced with irrefutable evidence, a normal person would start crying within ten minutes if they had strong mental fortitude, but this man, faced with conclusive evidence, remained unmoved and kept silent.
He didn’t seek a lawyer, showed no interest in the evidence, and just sat there.
Until thirty minutes ago, when he finally spoke.
“You should know someone named Lu Ban. I want to see him,”
said the man.
The emergence of this name from his lips greatly surprised Cui Siter.
If this person had referred to a witness who had seen his crime, Cui Siter might still consider him a high-IQ criminal who was exceedingly clever.
But now, this person had directly mentioned Lu Ban!
You see, in order to persuade the higher-ups to issue the arrest warrant, Cui Siter did not discuss Lu Ban’s information with many people. After all, if others found out that Cui Siter had pinpointed the suspect because of a just-discharged mental patient, Cui Siter might be the next to be confined in Jiangcheng Mental Health Center.
He only said it was intelligence from an anonymous informant, hence there was no possibility of Lu Ban’s information leaking during the arrest.
So how did he know about Lu Ban?
Could it be… Lu Ban was telling the truth?
Is this world really in his Illusion Realm?
No, that’s impossible.
Cui Siter banished the idea from his mind, unwilling to accept such an outlandish claim.
“Who is Lu Ban?”
Cui Siter responded.
“Don’t play dumb, you found me because of Lu Ban. I want to see him. Once I do, you can get everything you want.”
The man spoke indifferently, as though it wasn’t him but Cui Siter across the table who was being interrogated.
Cui Siter composed himself, picked up his phone to send a message to Lu Ban,
and sent someone directly to bring Lu Ban over.
In the hallway, Lu Ban saw Cui Siter, who was smoking. The officer took a deep breath and stubbed out the cigarette.
“Don’t talk too much to him; this man is abnormal,”
Cui Siter said, adding a cautionary note.
“More abnormal than me?”
Lu Ban asked in return.
Cui Siter was momentarily speechless.
He spoke briefly to a colleague, instructing them to leave the interrogation room, then Cui Siter found an officer who had not appeared before, changed into plain clothes, and followed him into the interrogation room.
“This is Lu Ban,”
Cui Siter indicated the officer.
The man glanced at the officer then back at Cui Siter.
“Don’t trick me.”
His implication was that this was a fake, demanding the real Lu Ban to come.
Cui Siter glanced at the officer beside him, signaled with his eyes for him to leave, and called for Lu Ban to come in.
As Lu Ban walked in, the man’s expression changed slightly.
It was visible that within those originally calm eyes, a frenzied look appeared; he stared at Lu Ban, and if it weren’t for the handcuffs restraining him to the chair, he might have stood up and rushed toward Lu Ban.
“You are Lu Ban,”
said the man.
“What do you want with me?”
Lu Ban directly asked.
Cui Siter glanced at Lu Ban but said nothing.
“It’s not I who seek you; it is the master,”
said the man, his tone cold.
“Master?”
Cui Siter eyed the recorder, making sure it was capturing the conversation.
These statements here couldn’t be taken as testimony, but Cui Siter still wanted to record them for study.
Because his instinct told him that this murder case was not simple.
The man ignored Cui Siter and continued staring at Lu Ban.
His eyes suddenly rolled back, and he started convulsing as though he were in shock. Just as Cui Siter was considering whether to pause the interrogation to find a doctor for him, the man suddenly became still.
He raised his head, looking at Lu Ban, his eye sockets entirely black, devoid of whites.
“■■■■■!”
He uttered incomprehensible gibberish from his mouth; Cui Siter couldn’t understand what he was saying and could only look to Lu Ban.
Lu Ban listened intently for a while.
“What did he say?”
Cui Siter asked.
“I don’t know, hmm.”
Lu Ban replied seriously.
“…”
Cui Siter was momentarily speechless.
“Gaga, gaga wowo.”
Lu Ban mimicked the other’s voice, but the man did not respond.
Lu Ban was at a loss.
Previously, he either relied on translations from Silent Lands or the polluted knowledge in his brain. Now, hearing the other’s nonsensical sounds, he truly couldn’t understand.
“Can you do it or not?”
Cui Siter looked at Lu Ban somewhat disdainfully.
“Don’t rush, I know you’re anxious, but just don’t rush,”
Lu Ban advised.
He spoke earnestly to the man.
“You also know, this here is the Illusion Realm, a place without the Ancient Overlord. I can’t understand what you’re saying. Can you switch to a language I can understand? Uh, not English, I’ve almost completely forgotten that.”
The man fell silent for a moment after hearing Lu Ban’s words.
Then, with a voice as if phlegm was stuck in his throat, he spoke out,
“You, will die, today.”
