I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 902 - 902 901. Old Cui

Chapter 902: 901. Old Cui Chapter 902: 901. Old Cui Jiangcheng City Police Department.

The operator had just hung up on an emergency call and before she could take a break, the phone rang again.

Contrary to what many people think, the emergency center is actually very busy.

It is not only serious murder cases that lead to emergency calls; in fact, all sorts of trivial matters can cause the phones at the emergency center to chime continuously.

Arguing with someone after a minor bump on the street, getting increasingly upset over a bowl of noodles that didn’t taste right, couples quarreling over who should mop the floor, reporting a sighting of an alien—

There were all sorts of outrageous reasons.

Although making false alarms is punishable, in most cases, the police generally do not follow up on such ambiguous situations.

Picking up the handset, the operator asked politely what difficulty the caller was facing.

She quickly heard the caller’s calm voice.

“Regarding the murder case at Jiangcheng University, I might have some clues.”

Upon hearing this voice, the operator’s first reaction was to think it was another joke, but professional ethics prompted her to continue asking.

“What clues do you have?”

“I need to talk to the police in person, I’m currently at the city center, near the square—could you inform the nearest police station? I’ll head there in a bit.”

His voice was very calm and methodical.

“Uh…”

The operator felt something was off but, since the caller said they would go to the police station, there seemed to be no danger.

She then told the caller the location of the nearest police station and also made a call to notify the corresponding police station.

Lu Ban hung up the phone and checked the time.

Of course, he could have just told the operator all his suspicions over the phone, but whether she would believe him was another issue. Lu Ban didn’t know if the operator would believe him, but he certainly wouldn’t.

Therefore, Lu Ban needed to interact with the police, to understand certain details of the case, to see if it matched his memory, and then provide information.

After all, Lu Ban’s goal was not to find the perpetrator but to test the difference between the real world and this Illusion Realm.

Thinking this, Lu Ban stood up.

“What’s up? Where are you going?”

Amber sipped her milk tea in little bites, looking at Lu Ban as he stood up.

“I remembered something and I’m going to check it out. You guys continue shopping, just let me know where to have lunch later.”

Lu Ban thought it over but decided not to tell Amber directly about these matters.

Because most likely she would definitely worry about Lu Ban and want to accompany him.

Although this was the Illusion Realm, Lu Ban still didn’t want to disturb Amber and Red Leaf’s peaceful life.

“Can you manage on your own?”

Amber looked at Lu Ban with some trepidation.

“What are you going to do?”

Red Leaf looked at Lu Ban warily. Though her tone wasn’t very friendly, she still seemed reluctant to let Lu Ban leave alone.

“It’s nothing, I’m just going to the police station.”

Lu Ban had no choice but to tell the truth, pointing to the TV store.

“Didn’t you see the news just now? There was an incident at Jiangcheng University. I feel like I might be able to provide some clues, so I’m planning to go talk with the police comrades.”

He also pointed to his head.

“An incident?”

Amber appeared slightly anxious.

“We’ll go with you,”

Red Leaf spoke up for her good friend.

“Uh, aren’t you going shopping?”

Lu Ban looked at their bags.

“No problem, we can shop anytime; the summer vacation is still so long.”

Red Leaf stood up and even gave Amber a tug.

Lu Ban could only lead the two girls toward the nearby police station.

The downtown police station was very busy; with so many people around, frictional incidents were frequent, not to mention fights breaking out over a few drinks—sometimes, just an extra glance at someone’s girlfriend could start a brawl.

Seeing Lu Ban with two girls, the officer at reception subconsciously thought Lu Ban must have committed some crime and looked at him sternly.

“Hello, I’ve come to provide clues,”

Lu Ban greeted and said.

“Providing clues?”

The officer was somewhat at a loss; there hadn’t been any cases in their jurisdiction?

At that moment, a police officer walked out of the office.

“Are you Lu Ban?”

The officer asked.

“Yes.”

The officer sized up Lu Ban and then glanced at the two high school students behind him.

“Come this way, your two friends can wait in the reception room.”

He instructed another officer to take Amber and Red Leaf to an air-conditioned room on the side while he led Lu Ban into the office.

“Wait here for a bit, the comrade in charge of this area will be here soon.”

After closing the door, the officer said.

“Is this a serial murder case?”

Lu Ban suddenly spoke up.

The officer was taken aback and looked at Lu Ban.

“I don’t know the specific details, you’ll find out when he arrives.”

He asked Lu Ban to take a seat and poured him a glass of water, then went behind the computer and started sending some messages on his phone, occasionally glancing at Lu Ban.

Lu Ban took a sip of water and after ten minutes, there was a knock at the door.

The door to the office opened and two uniformed police officers came in, followed by a man in plain clothes.

As soon as Lu Ban saw the two officers, he felt a strange sensation.

These two were He Youwu and Chen Danshen, the local community officers in Lu Ban’s neighborhood in the real world.

And the man in plain clothes gave Lu Ban a moment of what felt like fate.

It was Cui Siter.

“What’s up?”

Cui Siter noticed something subtle in Lu Ban’s expression and asked.

“I’m glad to see you.”

Lu Ban said.

“Do we know each other?”

Cui Siter looked puzzled, pulling out a notebook and a signing pen.

“Hard to say.”

Lu Ban’s response put the three officers on alert.

“Tell us what clues you have.”

Chen Danshen lacked his usual unreliable demeanor from the real world and appeared very serious and focused.

“Did this case happen in the villa district?”

Lu Ban asked.

Hearing his question, the three officers exchanged glances.

“Did you see it in a short video?”

The specifics of the case hadn’t been publicized, so unless he was an eyewitness or the reporter of the crime, Lu Ban shouldn’t have known that the incident took place in the villa district.

Of course, many onlookers might record videos of the scene and upload them on short video platforms for attention, causing the police much trouble. Therefore, they speculated that Lu Ban must have learned about the villa district from a short video.

“This case must be a serial killing, and the surveillance cameras haven’t detected any suspicious criminals?”

Instead of answering, Lu Ban continued to ask.

Cui Siter’s hand holding the pen stopped, and he closed the notebook, looking deeply at Lu Ban.

“Who are you, exactly?”

In response to the question, Lu Ban didn’t give a direct answer either and instead looked back at Cui Siter.

“Officer, may I know your name?”

“My name? My last name is Cui, you can call me Old Cui.”

Cui Siter said, feeling perplexed.

“Alright, Old Cui, do you believe that we have met before?”

Lu Ban said.

“You mean…”

Cui Siter was confused.

“In the real world, we have met.”

Lu Ban said.
