I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 894 - 894 893. Hospital ward
Chapter 894: 893. Hospital ward Chapter 894: 893. Hospital ward When Lu Ban realized this, he didn’t react quickly.
He just glanced at the nurse next to him.
When he saw the nurse, Lu Ban was stunned once again.
“Feng Yu?”
Because standing next to The Dark One, the girl in the nurse’s uniform was indeed Feng Yu.
Even though she was wearing light makeup, Lu Ban could not possibly mistake her, she was his old classmate, who had been taken over by creatures of the Foreign Domain and had assumed her identity to remain in this world!
“Hmm?”
The nurse seemed puzzled, not knowing why Lu Ban called her name at that moment; she looked at the doctor.
“It’s fine, normal.”
The Dark One came over to Lu Ban’s bedside and pulled up a chair to sit down.
“Mr. Lu, do you still remember who you are?”
He asked in a gentle tone.
“I am Lu Ban.”
Lu Ban answered matter-of-factly.
“Anything else?”
The Dark One asked persuasively.
“I was just in the Wasteland, undergoing a mission of the Chosen by Gods. Everything was already settled, but then you suddenly appeared, and then I ended up here.”
Lu Ban said seriously.
“The mission of the Chosen by Gods, you mentioned before that you are one of them and get transported to various worlds to carry out missions, which you call the Foreign Domain, right?”
The Dark One picked up from where Lu Ban left off.
“Correct.”
Lu Ban nodded.
“Can you talk about this mission?”
The Dark One’s expression remained unfazed as he continued the conversation with Lu Ban.
Lu Ban briefly described his experience in the Wasteland. The Dark One showed no objections, only listening silently, occasionally asking for details during the experience and taking notes with a pen.
During the conversation, Lu Ban covertly observed the expression of the nurse, Feng Yu.
This girl of similar age didn’t carry Feng Yu’s demeanor but instead showed a puzzled and bewildered expression as she listened to Lu Ban’s narrative, mixed with some fear.
That expression, Lu Ban was familiar with.
It was the expression of a normal person listening to a mentally ill patient describe their experiences.
After finishing, Lu Ban saw The Dark One take some more notes, then he heard a click as he clicked the ballpoint pen back into place and slightly put down the clipboard in his hand.
“Mr. Lu, don’t be surprised by what I am about to tell you.”
The Dark One revealed a smile, trying to reassure Lu Ban.
“In fact, all these experiences of yours are mere delusions. In this world, there are no such things as the Foreign Domain or Evil God, and there are no Chosen by Gods. You are not a well-known Director, just a university student who is ill.”
Hearing The Dark One’s words, Lu Ban felt an expected sensation.
“You mean, all that was my imagination?”
He calmly looked for flaws in this place.
“Correct. In fact, you have been showing symptoms for a long time now, mixing reality and fantasy and creating a logically consistent worldview, adding lots of plots and characters.”
The Dark One spoke somewhat helplessly, then pointed at the badge hanging on his chest.
“You see, my name is Wu Kelei,” known to you as Corea, “you’ve also projected me into your fantasy.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Ban used his eyes to confirm the other person’s name tag, then glanced at the nurse’s.
It was indeed Feng Yu.
“Actually, the people you encountered in that mission you just mentioned are mostly patients, doctors, staff, and people who appear on TV.”
The Person of the Dark motioned for the nurse to take out the tablet and opened some photos to hand to Lu Ban.
Lu Ban took the tablet and saw the photos on it.
At first glance, he recognized Du Danping among them.
“This is Du Danping.”
Lu Ban identified him.
“Yes, his name is Du Danping, a famous musician. Our hospital had once played a video of his performance in the Golden Hall, and you watched it then,”
The Person of the Dark quickly explained.
Lu Ban lowered his head; some of these photos looked very familiar, while others were relatively unfamiliar. He soon recognized another.
“This is Plato.”
It was an elderly mixed-race man.
“Yes, he is Doctor Yusuf, who came to our hospital two months ago, he is German-Chinese,”
The Person of the Dark said.“Mr. Lu Ban, you suffer from a very special disease. This disease wasn’t considered a ‘disease’ at first, because it allowed you to quickly memorize everything around you while perceiving many details difficult for ordinary people to feel, which could be considered a kind of hypersensitivity. However, the human brain has the function of forgetting. It can regularly clear unimportant memories or store them in another way. Your brain lacks this function, hence you remember all the details.”
He tapped his head with his finger.
“So your brain was overwhelmed, coupled with the pressure of studying, leading to abnormal mental conditions. You use everything you see to fabricate a story, immersing yourself in it, which has severely affected your life.”
Hearing the words of The Person of the Dark, Lu Ban remained silent for a moment.
His right hand tried to materialize the silver revolver “Testament,” but soon, Lu Ban realized there was nothing in his hand.
“So, we later developed a strategy: using the concept of the Chosen by Gods. Each of your delusions becomes a chapter. After psychological suggestions, as long as you go through that delusion process, that segment of memory will be transformed and cleared from your mind, preventing you from completely losing your sanity.”
The Person of the Dark continued.
“This is also a kind of experimental therapy. Initially, we were quite successful. After you imagined some stories, you could recover a period of lucidity. However, later we realized your brain is too clever. It quickly turned these stories into realities within your cognition. Not long ago, we performed some operations and administered medication to suppress some of your hormone secretion. This might make you feel somewhat lethargic, but at least you can communicate with us now, right?”
Lu Ban didn’t respond as if he was still pondering what he had said.
“It’s okay. Treatment isn’t instant. Fortunately, your family visited you today. Talking with them should help your recovery.”
The Person of the Dark stood up and gently patted Lu Ban’s shoulder.
He asked Lu Ban to wait, then left the room with the nurse.
Lu Ban thought about it, guessing this must be some sort of Illusion Realm. The other party being The Dark One, even among the incarnations of the Supreme God, was one of the most powerful. Trapping him in that illusion was effortless.
But why hadn’t he simply killed him or forcefully made him one of his followers? Instead, he created this illusion. What was his intention?
Did he want to extract some information from me?
Or did he just want to amuse himself by secretly watching my puzzled expression?
While thinking, Lu Ban saw the hospital room door being pushed open again.
A girl wearing a school uniform and still having traces of youthful innocence on her face stepped into the room. As soon as she saw Lu Ban, she immediately broke into a smile.
“Lu Ban!”
When Lu Ban saw her, his expression also became somewhat tense.
Because this girl was clearly Amber.
