I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 893 - 893 892. Du Danpings Melody Fragment

Chapter 893: 892. Du Danping’s Melody Fragment Chapter 893: 892. Du Danping’s Melody Fragment In the ever-intensifying Pollution, the entire city was enveloped.

Around Du Danping, melody transformed into substance, forming a barrier that withstood the storm that mutated all things.

The swarm of insects belonging to Hippocrates trembled in the Torrential Rain, struggling desperately.

The pollution turned into a tornado, with countless Lei Tings flickering within. The howling winds reduced the houses made of sand and stone to rubble; on the Wasteland above, a storm surpassing all limits was forming.

If one could look down upon the planet from space, they would see a giant storm sprawled across the earth, as if the planet had opened an eye, awakening from a lengthy slumber.

In the midst of this storm that exceeded everything, even the clouds were stirred, revealing a gap.

This created an extraordinary state.

On the outside, Thunderstorms raged, Gale Winds howled.

On the inside, in the true Utopia, sunlight fell, its brilliant radiance illuminating the earth.

Cleopatra was left with only half a body, the upper part already devoured by Pollution, blossoming with disgustingly tentacled flowers.

Lu Ban lay in pieces, flesh splattered in every corner of the city, slowly coming back together at a snail’s pace.

Du Danping, on one knee, clutched the remains of his ethereal piano, gasping for breath as he gazed upon the remnants of Cleopatra.

And Hippocrates, those remaining insects gradually conglomerated, forming his broken visage.

“The storm is dissipating under the assault of the Pollution, at least we have protected the people of the other city-states,” Du Danping whispered, weakened, with hardly any strength left, unable to aid Hippocrates now.

The doctor had no intention to heal himself either.

Once a Saint of the Wasteland undergone transformation, with the insects inside fully hatched, the change was irreversible. Next, they would either become insects, circling in the Wasteland or choose to end themselves, leaving behind only their eggs.

“Did we really do it?”

Hippocrates posed the question.

He didn’t expect an answer; in this Doomsday world, who could give him one?

Yet, he felt there was still something he could do.

The insects on Hippocrates dispersed once more, his own form completely lost as the bugs flew in all directions, picking up the flesh of Lu Ban, bringing it together.

Soon, as the insects scattered their scales, they landed on Lu Ban, emitting a green glow.

The combination process for Lu Ban was accelerated, quickly returning to a human form, lying on the ground.

Opening his eyes, Lu Ban looked towards the remains of Cleopatra, towards the storm that was spreading outward, although weakening. He likely understood, at least he had survived the storm.

In his field of vision, silver words appeared indifferently and coldly.

[Survive until the Torrential Rain ends: 1/1]

Seeing this, Lu Ban knew that things must have already settled.

He rose, moving his body a little.

The insects originating from Hippocrates were steadily dying, each falling to the ground like the last rain of Utopia.

Du Danping glanced at Lu Ban, his eyes showing a complex expression.

“I’ve never seen an entity like you before,” he said.

Although Du Danping had seen various Chosen by Gods in the Foreign Domain, he had never encountered one like Lu Ban.

He was no longer human, nor even a monster; only those Indescribable and mighty entities lurking in the shadows, like the Evil Gods, possessed such power.

When heavily polluted, Lu Ban did not experience corresponding Corrosion and Mutation effects, which typically had only one explanation – the Pollution he embodied had long surpassed those he came into contact with.

An Ancient Overlord could not be polluted by beings of lesser stature.

“I’ve seen your future,” Lu Ban considered before speaking.

“I know Song Yunyan; she’s your lover, isn’t she?”

Hearing Lu Ban’s words, Du Danping’s expression froze, but quickly softened.

“Everything I’ve done was just so she could live a peaceful life,” Du Danping said. He suddenly hesitated, swallowed, and appeared to be at a loss for words.

Lu Ban knew Du Danping certainly wanted to inquire about his own future.

But Du Danping also understood that once he learned something from Lu Ban, the future would be set in stone.

If he was to encounter some unfortunate event, then it would no longer be avoidable.

He fell silent for a moment before finally asking,

“In the future where you come from, how is Yunyan doing?”

Lu Ban heard the question and fell silent for a moment.

“She’s doing well.”

“… That’s good.”

Du Danping didn’t continue to inquire.

He had already figured out the reason why Lu Ban only mentioned Song Yunyan and didn’t say anything about himself.

It was very likely that in Lu Ban’s era, he had long since passed away.

He felt somewhat wistful, but he quickly pulled himself together.

Since Song Yunyan’s future was alright, then everything he was about to do was worthwhile.

He thought for a while, then took out a harmonica from his pocket.

“This is an extraordinary item I once acquired that can help maintain sanity amidst pollution. I hope you can pass it to Yunyan.”

Lu Ban took the harmonica, and as he did, the cold, indifferent words of the Silent Lands appeared in his vision.

[Du Danping’s Melody Shard 4/4]

He carefully looked at the harmonica, which seemed to harbor a burgeoning light.

He hadn’t expected to find the last Melody Shard of Du Danping here.

But after some thought, Lu Ban realized the logic, as after all, [Du Danping’s Melody Shard] was certainly something left by Du Danping.

And now, with Du Danping himself right before him, acquiring the last Melody Shard was a simple matter.

Lu Ban saw that once again, a waterfall of text poured into his field of vision.

He was about to confirm those words when he saw, in this world that had survived great catastrophe, amidst the ruins of Utopia, a man standing.

The man had dark skin, was tall and thin, with handsome features, and wore a fitted, bright-colored suit, looking perfectly genteel.

He walked toward this place, strolling leisurely, like the sole ray of light in a world of decay.

But Lu Ban knew that this was no ray of light; it was the deepest darkness.

“Run.”

Lu Ban spoke and pushed Du Danping hard, causing him to tumble into the void between the Foreign Domains.

The moment after Du Danping disappeared, Lu Ban lifted his head and saw the dark-skinned man right in front of him, revealing a bright white smile.

“Caught you.”

The next instant, Lu Ban felt an excruciating pain in his head and he lost consciousness.

When he woke up, Lu Ban found himself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling.

He hadn’t died.

Lu Ban quickly came to realize this fact.

They say that after death, you go to a cinema where you watch the last movie about yourself before the curtain falls, the audience leaves, and you exit, ending your long life.

But now, Lu Ban was lying in bed.

He sat up and saw that he was in what looked like a single-person hospital room.

Lu Ban was wearing a striped pajama set, the attire of a hospital patient.

He felt what seemed to be something on his wrist, lifted his hand, and saw that it was a plastic wristband—lightweight, yet sturdy.

On the wristband, some simple personal information was written.

Subconsciously reaching for his phone, Lu Ban did not find anything of the sort.

How he had come to this hospital room and what The Dark One had done to him after that encounter, he had no idea.

Just then, the door to the hospital room opened.

A doctor walked in with a nurse. He seemed surprised to see Lu Ban sitting up in bed, but quickly regained his composure and approached the bedside to speak to Lu Ban.

“How are you feeling?”

Lu Ban didn’t respond.

Because he realized that the doctor standing before him was that dark-skinned man.

That was The Dark One!
