I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 885 - 885 884. Mimic

Chapter 885: 884. Mimic Chapter 885: 884. Mimic Lu Ban hopped and ran, much like a rabbit delving deeper into the labyrinth, occasionally glancing at the golden pocket watch in his hand.

“I’m going to be late, I’m going to be late.”

He muttered under his breath.

Plato had no clue what Lu Ban was scheming, but he followed along.

“Do we have little time left?”

He asked, since Lu Ban clearly knew more about the situation at hand.

“Not exactly, it’s just that the line seemed fitting, so I couldn’t help saying it.”

Lu Ban replied on the spot.

“?”

Plato was unclear about the young man’s thoughts, but his curiosity was piqued when Lu Ban mentioned his earlier statement about blowing the whole place up, wondering how he planned to do it.

According to Lu Ban, this place was the Octopus Man’s spiritual world, like a dream, but the difference was that the Octopus Man had absolute control, akin to a master who could manipulate and alter the dream at will.

Here, Urukluqqa could create various things, and any changes made by intruders could be wiped out in an instant.

Even though Plato could comprehend the ideal world and find the core of Urukluqqa, that would only be a surprise attack while the octopus was off guard. If the octopus noticed his movements, like the previous splitting clone, and prepared in advance, then Plato might not be able to overcome it easily.

And if, as Lu Ban said, they were to blow up the entire spiritual world, it would certainly startle the octopus, increasing its vigilance. At that point, resolving the problem would require a lot more time and effort.

He decided to observe Lu Ban.

He watched as Lu Ban, with rabbit ears atop his head, moved between the labyrinth’s walls, deftly and nimbly avoiding traps and monsters. Several times, Plato was tempted to use his power, but Lu Ban would just barely dodge the monsters that were within an arm’s reach.

Plato was curious as to how exactly Lu Ban detected these dangers.

As they reached the edge of the labyrinth, almost able to see the void of thought on the outside, Lu Ban suddenly stopped.

He looked over at a dead end next to them. There, at the end of the road, in plain sight, was a chest.

The chest was magnificently decorated, gleaming with gold, as though it contained countless treasures.

“Suspicious.”

Plato voiced his caution.

In such an environment, a chest so openly placed at the end of the path was a thousand percent likely to be problematic.

However, Lu Ban walked straight towards the chest, completely indifferent to potential traps.

Plato watched Lu Ban with a skeptical look but did not follow.

Lu Ban arrived at the chest and, without inspection or testing, opened it directly.

“Could it really be here?”

Plato murmured, half-believing and half-doubting.

The next moment, the edges of the chest sprouted sharp teeth, and evil eyes opened on top of it, biting down and engulfing Lu Ban’s upper body.

Clang clang clang—

Lu Ban struggled for a while, and just when Plato thought he might not make it and was ready to step in to help, the young man finally climbed out of the chest.

The mimic lay wide-mouthed, unmoving, as if it had lost its breath.

“What is this?”

Plato approached Lu Ban and pointed at the mimic, asking.

“It appears to be a mimic, a very basic trap that lures adventurers by disguising itself as a common chest. It opens its mouth to engulf them at the moment they touch it.”

Lu Ban explained earnestly.

“So you just…”

Plato stopped mid-sentence.

“Competent adventurers won’t overlook any treasure chest within their sight,” Lu Ban said with what seemed like pride.

“…”

Plato was unsure whether he should continue trusting this young man.

“It’s okay, I just figured out the general structure of this place through communicating with the Mimic. Rest assured, I am a professional Adventurer, and I dare to make judgments.”

Lu Ban patted his chest, further unsettling Plato.

“First of all, we need to get out of this maze because we’re going to blow this place up. If we stay here, won’t we be reduced to dust and ashes?”

He said matter-of-factly.

“… You make a lot of sense.”

Plato felt like there must be something seriously wrong with either the young man in front of him or himself.

Fortunately, the maze hindered those who tried to delve deeper, whereas leaving did not involve so many twists and turns; soon, the two of them arrived at the edge of the labyrinth.

Continuing forward lay an endless void, a subconscious realm even Urukluqqa himself could not control. Despite bioengineered improvements allowing the Octopus Man to dominate most regions of his own consciousness, there still were instinctual areas beyond his grasp.

Of course, if Plato ventured into these areas, the chaotic and frantic thoughts would also affect him, causing him to succumb and become unable to extricate himself.

It was said that these subconscious areas might even connect to the higher collective subconscious sea of the entire species and, under certain special circumstances, even glimpse the imprints left in the souls of these species by great existences.

Plato was determined not to enter.

He saw Lu Ban turn around, facing back toward the Mind Labyrinth.

Then, seemingly from nowhere, Lu Ban produced some metal items.

He assembled them seriously, crafting what resembled a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher.

However, a normal rocket launcher would have a single barrel, but this one had holes clustered as densely as a honeycomb, making one question its design.

After all, the recoil from a single rocket grenade was enough to handle, let alone that from these densely packed barrels.

Plato did not recognize this object, but his intuition told him it was extremely dangerous.

Lu Ban squatted down, lifting the rocket launcher.

Without any hesitation, he pulled the trigger.

In an instant, countless rockets launched from the honeycombed barrel, flying towards the Mind Labyrinth in dizzying trajectories.

Meanwhile, deep within the labyrinth, Urukluqqa’s core consciousness wondered what Lu Ban and his companion were doing.

These two didn’t seem to want to delve deeper into the maze; instead, they were moving away. Regrettably, they did not know that once inside, escape was impossible, and they would be forever trapped in Urukluqqa’s Spiritual World, eventually fading away.

The Octopus Man, though rich in martial righteousness and not lacking in spiritual cultural victories, grew puzzled at the sight of Lu Ban holding an object.

What was this person planning to do?

Did he really think he could shatter this place through attack?

Didn’t he know that in his realm, all attacks could be completely erased with just a thought?

Urukluqqa watched the splendid fireworks, and with a mere thought, all the rockets vanished, and the Mind Labyrinth returned to its previous quietude.

However, the next moment, even more rockets soared into the air.
