I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 878 - 878 877. Octopus Man
Chapter 878: 877. Octopus Man Chapter 878: 877. Octopus Man The person, similar to an octopus, lifted his head to look at the sky.
Torrential rain poured down, veiling all scents.
His tendrils writhed, feeling the icy water.
“This guy possesses strength similar to mine? He wants to obstruct me, could this be the enemy Chosen by the Gods mentioned in this mission?”
He recalled the images he had glimpsed through the Divine Idol just now, his adversary could melt into a pool of flesh and blood, no, perhaps that pool of flesh and blood was their true form, with the appearance of the natives being just a disguise.
Thinking about the mission’s condition to eliminate the enemy Chosen by the Gods, he felt a wave of annoyance, and the multitude of eyes on his head blinked.
“I originally planned to use the Divine Idol to mutate everyone at once, dealing with that unknown Chosen by the Gods in the process. Now it seems I have to go there in person?”
Octopus Man glanced at the Divine Idol again, and even a faint crack had appeared on it.
He put away the Divine Idol and looked at the torrential rain in the sky.
This storm would soon reach Utopia, and the clear rainfall would cleanse the corrupted world.
A teal smoke rose from Octopus Man’s body, the smoke soaring straight up and merging into the clouds above.
Soon, the color of the rainclouds gradually turned to a dark green, that deep color like mold, making the raindrops sticky, foul-smelling, emitting a nauseating odor.
Ahead, Octopus Man saw an army marching away from the colossal rain.
He had observed this army for several days, and after some deduction and investigation, he learned that they were from a City-state to the west. Their destination was also Utopia, a spy hidden in Utopia had sent out a message informing them of the intelligence on the Promised Land, and hence they dispatched the army to obtain the coordinates.
But, Octopus Man found it amusing.
Because their City-state had already been submerged in the torrential rain, destroyed as Octopus Man’s test subjects; now in that sunken city, only the bodies of rotting zombies went about their former daily activities.
This army had no idea what had befallen their hometown.
And now, even they were about to be engulfed by this rain.
“Let me test the effect of this rain.”
Octopus Man’s eyes flickered continuously as he watched the army, despite their speed through the desert not being slow, they were ultimately human flesh and blood and would need to rest.
After half a day, the green rain finally caught up with the army.
Despite their prior awareness and their hastened pace, not resting as per usual, once the rain fell upon them, everything became irreversibly doomed.
The robust soldiers were eroded by the rainwater, bursting into green fungal colonies on their flesh, their organs withering in an instant and then swelling, rupturing their bellies and spilling onto the sandy ground, dragging behind them as their cries of agony were quickly drowned out by the sound of the rain. Moments later, the army had vanished.
In their place was an undead legion, spreading plague, and utterly obedient to command.
Octopus Man approached their commander, the once valiant man now had one eye drooping out of his socket, his lips corroded, revealing rows of greenish teeth, his hollowed cheeks bristling with fungal growth.
“Continue marching.”
Octopus Man thought for a moment and decided that using this undying army to directly conquer Utopia seemed feasible.
Once Utopia was his, who dictates who the ruler is if not himself?
With that thought, Octopus Man submerged into the water and his figure disappeared.
…
…
Lu Ban soon returned to the house.
He also glanced at those tailing him along the way, they were quite earnest.
Lu Ban decided to reward them.
So, he first sneaked back to the academy and made a few insect-filled pancakes, then quietly placed them on the ground behind those people.
Finally, Lu Ban returned to the house and completed the handover with the paper figure Lu Ban.
He stood up, stretching lazily.
Although his real body was already a mess of rotten flesh, transforming into that form was still uncomfortable for Lu Ban.
“It’s better to be human.”
Lu Ban limbered up, invigorating his muscles and lifting his spirits.
Outside the house.
The person responsible for surveillance suddenly saw movement in the house. The sleepiness evaporated immediately.
“Hey, look, he’s moved!”
He hurriedly shook the shoulder of the person next to him.
He hadn’t expected that after Lu Ban had entered the room, he would just sit there and space out, and he’d been staring into space for a good half of the day.
Apart from occasionally turning over, there hadn’t been any other movement.
Was this guy here just to take a nap?
He was extremely puzzled.
Now, through the window, he saw that Lu Ban had finally stood up, and he actually felt relieved.
Watching Lu Ban stretch his body in the room, the young man stepped back twice, trying to hide deeper to prevent being discovered.
Just then, he noticed that an insect roll had been placed beside him at some point.
“Did you bring this?”
He picked up the insect roll and asked his companion.
“I don’t know.”
His companion also found it strange.
The two sniffed the insect roll to make sure there was nothing off about the smell, then they split it in half and each ate their share.
Just as they started eating, they saw Lu Ban leave the room.
The two hurriedly gobbled down the insect roll and chased after him.
They saw Lu Ban returning to the academy as if he had really just come over for a nap, which was baffling.
While they were contemplating whether to continue waiting for Lu Ban at the academy entrance or to go back and report the outcome, they saw a bunch of people bustling in from the other side of the street.
“You, how did your clothes get a hole in them, who did it?”
The man leading the group, upon seeing a hole in a passerby’s clothing, immediately asked in an elevated voice.
“Uh, I accidentally cut it at home…”
The passerby was intimidated by the other’s demeanor, stuttering in response.
“Someone, fix it for him!”
The leading man commanded, and immediately someone rushed forward to forcefully mend the passerby’s clothes.
Watching two people fiercely engaged in needlework was inexplicably juxtaposed.
This was Lei Ting, the boss of the Quicksand Council, who usually wasn’t modest or unassuming, but at least he was a domineering character; it was unexpected to see him treating others this way today.
“You, are you facing any difficulties?”
While the others were mending clothes, Lei Ting grabbed another passerby and asked harshly.
“I… I don’t have any difficulties,”
The woman said in panic.
“How is that possible? You must have difficulties, don’t hide it, tell me, I can solve them all for you!”
Lei Ting yelled again.
The woman shrank her neck and racked her brains before she hesitantly spoke.
“I haven’t decided what to eat for dinner tonight…”
“Someone, give her two of the biggest bugs, the fat ones!”
Lei Ting immediately had someone shove two wriggling bugs into the woman’s arms.
“Who else has something they need help with? You can all tell me; from now on, I will try my best to help everyone. Come on, speak up.”
Lei Ting addressed everyone there.
Leaving everyone completely befuddled.
What kind of drugs had he taken?
