Chapter 875: 874. Please wash your hands after use Chapter 875: 874. Please wash your hands after use The Divine Idol stood on a black square stone, its corpulent body covered in greenish stone skin marked with pustules and wounds. A massive mouth opened in its abdomen, revealing sharp teeth, and its face was indistinguishable, twisted like kneaded rubber, giving it a terrifying aura.
Simply laying eyes on this Divine Idol was enough to make one’s scalp tingle and eyes blur, especially as it was covered in a layer of already coagulated filthy blood. The murky blood, like a spider’s web, draped over the surfaces of the Divine Idol and the corpse, eerie and horrifying.
Yet Lu Ban, a veteran of countless battles, had seen it all. Such ugliness was not enough to shake his spirit.
However, he wondered where these children had found the courage to worship such an Evil God within Utopia.
Ignorance knows no fear.
Lu Ban thought for a moment, realizing that many reckless kids in reality were pretty much the same.
There were those who climbed into electric boxes and ended up well-done, those who blew up manhole covers with excrement flying, and those who led funeral processions with ghostly fire, even in the civilized modern society, the means of courting death were plentiful.
Worshipping an Evil God, a small matter really.
Lu Ban glanced at the corpse, not knowing if this was a mortal or one of those fervent individuals among the elite. He squatted down to examine, finding the death gruesome; the internal organs had vanished, presumably “offered up.”
Thinking it over, Lu Ban placed the insect wrap from his arms onto the corpse.
It seemed a bit disrespectful to the food, but he wanted to try if conducting an offering could establish contact with the [Heavenly Father] on the other side.
A blood-constructed Array emitted a faint light, a mysterious connection burst forth from the insect wrap, intertwining with the Array like threads.
Lu Ban could feel that in the void, a passage was being opened.
This passage was filled with sticky flesh, the deeper one looked, the more chilling it became.
A ghastly green light illuminated the entire room, Lu Ban saw the insect wrap begin to decompose, being absorbed and disappearing into the void.
After a while, the insect wrap turned entirely into fragments, violently sucked into the eerie green passage.
Lu Ban awaited a response from the other side.
According to Lu Ban’s research, the act of offering was somewhat similar to the three-step handshake of the Magic Network of the Night Country.
What was offered didn’t matter much, the main purpose of the sacrifice was to confirm a connection had been established.
Like data transmission, to verify that the other party is indeed the intended recipient, it’s customary to include something as a form of validation, either a useless verification code, a specific set of numbers, or perhaps even encrypted data.
The offering was this verification code.
The reason many rituals used flesh, souls, and such was mainly because these elements were easier for those Indescribable Beings to recognize. Many such entities could track the scent and find their way without fail.
Different Evil Gods required different offerings. Some liked chicken feet, others preferred darker essences, and still others dismissed stains completely, perhaps some Evil Gods could be contacted instantly by simply writing 4396 on a piece of paper.
Moments later, all fragments of the insect wrap were completely sucked away.
A while later, Lu Ban heard a noise from the other side.
Pfft—
The fragments of the insect wrap were spewed back, splattering across the room.
It seemed they were too disgusting to be accepted.
“So they are indeed disgusting,” Lu Ban muttered, now certain there was nothing wrong with his taste.
Picking up the Divine Idol, the flickering connection vanished immediately, and the green passage in the void disappeared as well.
Lu Ban had seen such Divine Idols before, they served as anchor points.
During his time at He Dao, there was communication between Divine Idols; Lu Ban had even briefly interacted with the Misty City people.
But this Divine Idol seemed to directly connect to the [Heavenly Father].
After pondering, a silver steel pen named “Testament” materialized in Lu Ban’s hand.
On the Divine Idol, countless characters surfaced, forming elusive pages.
Lu Ban flipped them open to check the instructions of the Divine Idol.
“As long as offerings are made, gifts can be harvested. The benevolent Heavenly Father rejects no one’s joining, He forever watches over you.”
“Used in conjunction with a specific Array, the effect is even better.”
“Please do not casually feed it food, especially not insects!!!”
“After using, please wash your hands, pay attention to hygiene.”
Such texts interspersed among them.
Lu Ban hastily looked at his own hands.
While holding the Divine Idol, his hands had already undergone Corrosion, now exhibiting a moldy cake-like, dark green color.
Lu Ban swallowed his saliva, suppressed the urge to taste it, and set the Divine Idol down.
Just then, Lu Ban heard footsteps coming from behind.
It seemed that members of the Quicksand Council had come downstairs.
Lu Ban originally wanted to hide, but suddenly had a more interesting idea.
He melted into a puddle of flesh, coiling around the Divine Idol.
Thud—
The door was pushed open as two members of the Quicksand Council, who had just been pecking at insects in the courtyard, entered.
“See, it was just an illusion, there’s nothing here… hmm?”
The person in the lead was still talking to his companion but suddenly noticed that next to the Divine Idol, in the center of the sacrificial ceremony, there was a lump of meat wriggling.
He immediately became alert, thinking it might be the possible intruder the guards had mentioned earlier, but then he reconsidered. This place was a domain of Divine Beings, capable of rivaling even the Rules of Utopia, so how could there be anything dangerous here?
“What is this…?”
The other person was dumbfounded, watching the meat slowly wriggle, encircling the Divine Idol as if possessing its own consciousness. Then, the lump of meat started to vibrate and emitted a buzzing sound.
“Mortal, who granted you the right to stare directly at me?”
The voice was grand, indifferent, as if coming from a supreme overlord, causing both men to unconsciously feel their heads heat up, a sense of dizziness wash over them, and their legs trembled uncontrollably, nearly prompting them to kneel and prostrate themselves.
“You… are you… [Heavenly Father]?”
The person in the lead hurriedly changed his words, one knee hitting the ground, saluting the lump of flesh.
The second man was still skeptical; he looked around and felt that indeed something crumb-like seemed to have been added.
“What are you waiting for? Hurry and salute!”
His companion pulled him, making him also kneel down.
Almost simultaneously, some change occurred in the void, and inside the sealed basement, a gust of wind rose.
The wind carried a decaying scent. Smelling this, both men rolled up their sleeves to check the tattoos on their arms.
The fierce tattoos faintly emitted a green light, making their expressions intoxicated as they seemed to hear soft whispers and overlapping murmurs.
Although they couldn’t make out the whispers clearly, this was indeed the feedback after offering a sacrifice!
Could they have really summoned an incarnation of a Divine Being?
Both men stared at the lump of meat, secretly ecstatic.
