I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 874 - 874 873. Insect Pancake

Chapter 874: 873. Insect Pancake Chapter 874: 873. Insect Pancake Speaking of the heretical cultists of the Wasteland, it was the [Heavenly Father].

The followers of this Divine Being spread disease across the deserts, plunging entire cities into terror until they ultimately became His kin.

Lu Ban’s mission mentioned the possibility of Divine Beings from the Foreign Domain attempting to meddle with Utopia.

From this angle, the Quicksand Council was indeed the best entry point.

But Lu Ban did not act immediately. Instead, he sent Ke Cheng into the city to gather information about the Quicksand Council, including their recent activities, external contacts, and relations with the common citizens.

Ke Cheng certainly couldn’t gather details thoroughly. Rather, his current actions were very likely to be captured by other factions, especially the Quicksand Council, and be discovered.

This was exactly what Lu Ban wanted.

Sometimes, to find out what a naughty child is thinking or secretly doing, forcibly making him speak might not work. Instead, it might be better to take an opposite approach, using some other means to misinterpret what he is doing so that he might just jump out and contradict it.

Retreating ten thousand steps, if the Quicksand Council truly had ties with [Heavenly Father] as Du Danping said, then they would at most be dealt with by him.

If that time came, with Baobao present, there was no need to worry about Ke Cheng’s safety, and those people would show their true colors.

Although Lu Ban felt the Quicksand Council probably wasn’t that foolish.

As for Lu Ban, he had now definitely caught Cleopatra’s attention. The Yellow Sand Brotherhood would be constantly watching his actions, and rash action would be laborious and thankless.

Thinking this, Lu Ban decided to eat first.

The library provided a type of food similar to a wrap.

Using gray insect wings as the base, topped with various bug legs, pupae, wriggling insects, and smeared with a sauce made from a mix of plant and insect fluids, all wrapped up, creating a savory and delicious bug wrap.

Lu Ban’s face scrunched up like a bitter melon.

He held the wrap, finding it a bit difficult to stomach.

Meanwhile, Feng Yu ate without changing his expression.

With each bite, the crunchy insects combined with the dark green sauce, staining Feng Yu’s lips, looking quite convincing.

Lu Ban swallowed.

He took a bite.

The insects seemed to be fried, the shell crispy, the insides tender and juicy, with different insects offering varying textures—some as soft as cheese, some crispy like chips, and others chewy like beef.

The sauce was sweet and sour, cutting through the greasiness of the food.

The outer insect wings were like the wrap, stretchy enough yet not too tough to chew, mixing with the filling to provide considerable satisfaction.

As long as one accepted this setting, the taste was quite good.

“Oh—”

Lu Ban belched, feeling a bit nauseous.

Having finished one wrap, he grabbed another and pocketed it.

“What are you doing?”

Feng Yu looked at Lu Ban’s actions, somewhat puzzled.

“A gift for a meeting.”

Lu Ban said mysteriously.

Feng Yu frowned, but didn’t ask further.

After eating, Lu Ban said goodbye to Feng Yu and left the library.

He walked in the streets, his gaze sweeping over the crowds, quickly noticing someone covertly monitoring him.

[In the 0.42 seconds you were making eye contact, she had already spent an unfulfilled lifetime with you]

[His mind is torn between whether to step forward with his left foot or his right]

[He is worried if you have spotted him, but fortunately, his worry is unnecessary]

[She hesitates to follow you, especially since you have already looked in her direction three times]

Such was the case, the actions of passersby were all seen by Lu Ban.

At least five people were tracking and surveilling him from different positions.

Yet Lu Ban wasn’t worried about danger, as in Utopia, these people surely wouldn’t be able to do anything outrageous.

However, having them constantly follow him made it inconvenient for Lu Ban to act.

He had naturally anticipated this.

Lu Ban snaked through an alley, and those people followed, pretending to enjoy the scenery.

He circled around and quickly reached the empty houses of Utopia, where there were few people during the day as the merchants were out at the market, and there was no worry of thieves.

Lu Ban casually picked a vacant house, quickly grabbed a stone from the ground, carved his name on it outside the door, and then entered the house.

Right after Lu Ban entered the house, the people tracking him muttered curses under their breath, hurriedly concealed themselves, and observed the area.

Obviously, they couldn’t simply enter a house that Lu Ban had marked with his name; they could only watch from outside.

Yet no one knew what Lu Ban was doing inside.

They exchanged glances and hid near the house.

As for Lu Ban, after entering the house, he looked around.

Immediately, his whole body collapsed, melting into a decaying lump of flesh and blood.

He left behind a little bit, shaping it into a paper figure of Lu Ban that lay inside the house.

Next, Lu Ban seeped into the sand.

Though the gaps between the grains of sand were small, they were more than enough to accommodate Lu Ban.

His entire being sank down and then suddenly sprang out.

Carefully wrapping up a bug leg wrap that had fallen to the ground, Lu Ban sank down again.

Traveling through the sand, Lu Ban quickly arrived at the headquarters of the Quicksand Council.

It was a three-story cottage near the Oasis, the courtyard offering a view of the lush lake at the Oasis.

Several members of the Quicksand Council were sitting in the courtyard, eating bug snacks the size of fingertips, and whispering among themselves.

Lu Ban bypassed these people, transforming into a blob of Slime, flowing among the gravel on the ground.

He entered the building, trying to find any evidence that the Quicksand Council might be communicating with other beings.

The first floor was a hall, the second a conference room, and the third housed many small rooms for solitary use, their purpose unclear.

Lu Ban did a round but found nothing.

He avoided the people coming and going, then again used “True Sight” to look around.

Soon, Lu Ban discovered a hidden door in a corner of the hall.

He didn’t know where the mechanism for the door was, but he didn’t need to use the main entrance anyway, so he snuck in.

It was a basement under the building.

Entering the basement, Lu Ban immediately felt a thrill.

Clearly, within this basement, some supernatural power was at odds with the rules of Utopia, creating a strange area that the rules couldn’t influence.

At the very center of the basement, a mutilated corpse was arranged in a bizarre manner on a complex Array, its blood long dried, and its grotesque and twisted expression genuinely horrifying.

And in the position for worship within the Array, stood a Divine Idol.

That Divine Idol was familiar to Lu Ban; in the Silent Lands, it was called “[Benevolent Heavenly Father Statue]”.

It seemed, the Quicksand Council had indeed chosen the most dramatic way to prevail.
