I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 872 - 872 871. Everybody listen to me

Chapter 872: 871. Everybody listen to me Chapter 872: 871. Everybody listen to me “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the food that the Yellow Sand Brotherhood has been distributing around the city these days,” Ares said gravely.

“You might wonder if this food contains poison, why is it still distributed to the common people? It is because the poison in the food only affects humans when it accumulates to a certain level.”

He waved his hand, and several people lying on racks were brought up.

“I believe you may recognize some of these individuals,” he continued. “They have eaten food provided by the Yellow Sand Brotherhood every day, and now, as they have consumed a large amount, their bodies have accumulated a massive load of toxins, rendering them unable to lead normal lives.”

The people groaned in pain, causing a shiver down the spine of the crowd.

As he spoke, Ares glanced down at the audience, his gaze sweeping over Cleopatra and looking in the direction where Hippocrates was.

“Dr. Hippocrates, you may come and verify whether what I say is true.”

Hippocrates stood up silently, walked over to the affected individuals, placed his hand on their chests, closed his eyes for a few seconds, and his facial expression changed slightly.

He did not speak, checking everyone in turn, then reached out and probed the food.

“…Indeed, there are large amounts of harmful substances in their bodies, and these harmful substances are also present in the food. It cannot be ruled out that the disease is caused by their consuming this food in large quantities.”

As soon as Hippocrates finished speaking, the entire city square immediately erupted into noise.

“What, I just ate a bowl yesterday?!”

“How is that possible, why would they poison us?”

“The Yellow Sand Brotherhood has betrayed us!!!”

“They deserve to be punished!”

“I’ve always known these sly, deceitful merchants were up to no good. Thankfully, I’ve never eaten any of this food!”

“I warned before that there is no such thing as free food in this world. Look, trouble has started now!”

“I’ve eaten quite a bit too. Am I the only one who feels perfectly normal?”

“Impossible, why would Cleopatra do such things?”

All eyes and anger were directed at Cleopatra.

“Is this true?”

A merchant from the Yellow Sand Brotherhood at Cleopatra’s side asked, his face full of disbelief.

Yet the woman who inherited the name of the Queen of Beauty responded with stern eyebrows and calmly spoke.

“What Lord Ares has said is indeed true,” Cleopatra said.

Upon hearing her words, the city square boiled over once more.

Yelling, shouting, they rose intermittently, some even became agitated, rising to their feet, wanting to take action against the Yellow Sand Brotherhood.

But the next instant, Cleopatra’s voice resonated again, striking straight to the heart.

“I too only discovered today that the free food we provided to the public has such a serious problem. In fact, as soon as I found the problem, I had already ordered everyone to withdraw the food that was about to be distributed. You didn’t see the Yellow Sand Brotherhood distributing food today, did you?”

Her words instantly calmed everyone down.

Many people recalled that, indeed, the Yellow Sand Brotherhood members who were supposed to be distributing food today had not appeared, causing previous complaints.

“As for the source of this food, I’ve already thoroughly investigated it. Steel Finger, responsible for the supply, colluded with external traveling merchants, distributing poison with the intention of profiting from drugs,” Cleopatra explained, waving her hand.

Immediately, several people brought from outside a man whose fingers were made of crystal. The man struggled briefly before being pushed to the center of the square and fell to his knees with a kick.

“This disturbance is my responsibility, the responsibility of the Yellow Sand Brotherhood,” Cleopatra declared. “I only wanted to benefit everyone, but never thought it would come to this.”

Cleopatra said, tears seemingly glistening in her eyes.

Her expression was incredibly vivid, deeply moving almost everyone.

Only Lu Ban noticed that her words were full of cunning.

For instance, she said Steel Finger colluded with foreign merchants for his own benefit and distributed poison, yet she did not deny whether Steel Finger’s interests aligned with her own. Given that someone could be pushed forward as a scapegoat, that person was clearly prepared to sacrifice themselves, and their interests naturally coincided with those of Cleopatra.

At the same time, Cleopatra claimed all responsibility, which seemed like she was taking the blame but was actually an outright truth.

Underneath her truthful words, many were deceived.

“So that’s it, it looks like Lady Cleopatra is also a victim.”

“I knew it—how could the Yellow Sand Brotherhood possibly betray us.”

“This Steel Finger, seemed like a decent person, I never thought he could be so evil!”

“How despicable! Lucky I didn’t eat that food, Steel Finger certainly deserves legal [Punishment].”

“Just like that, you want to dissociate yourself from this? I don’t believe that the Saint would be so easily deceived!”

“Everyone listen to me, Lady Cleopatra would never want us to get hurt. It’s the Steel Finger at her side who hid the real purpose from her, hiding all these facts!”

Everyone was babbling, and many no longer retained their previous indignation, simply believing that Cleopatra too was an unsuspecting victim.

After all, a Saint of Utopia intending to poison common people was too incredible to believe.

Seeing this scene, Ares from the Wild Wolf Guard slightly frowned. He whispered a few words to the person next to him and then looked towards Steel Finger, who knelt on the ground.

“If you tell the truth, the Wild Wolf Guard might consider vouching for you, you would only be banished from this city and not subject to extreme punishment.”

He coaxed.

“Is Lady Cleopatra truly unaware?”

Steel Finger looked up, glancing at Ares.

“It’s all my doing alone, you all simply do not understand the situation in Utopia now. Only the most radical change can save this place.”

Steel Finger said.

His voice was not shaky, but instead robust and resonant.

“Think carefully, this is not something you can atone for alone, all those involved in distributing, everyone related to this food, all will face the [Punishment] of Utopia, justice lies in the heart of the people.”

Ares continued.

Steel Finger did not respond.

The next moment, he suddenly moved.

The two holding him seemed to suddenly lose their strength, pushed aside by Steel Finger. His fingers, belonging to this Transcendent, flickered with a metallic glow, aiming for Ares’s throat, attempting to take his life.

Before the cries of the crowd could be heard, Ares raised his right hand.

His right hand, unremarkable, grabbed Steel Finger’s wrist, the sharp and dangerous finger stopping mid-air, just half an inch from Ares’s throat.

“Why go to such lengths.”

Ares sighed, then, Steel Finger’s expression twisted.

His veins bulged as if poisoned, and Steel Finger collapsed with a thud, his body’s flesh burst open instantly.

The splattered flesh suddenly combusted, evaporating in moments, leaving behind only a dim figure, as if forever fixed by the sunlight.

There was no doubt, he faced the [Punishment] of Utopia for his failed attempt to kill Ares.
