I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 871 - 871 870. Hiccuping

Chapter 871: 870. Hiccuping Chapter 871: 870. Hiccuping Lu Ban opened his eyes as the organs inside his body began wriggling, deforming, and melting.

The toxin was extremely fierce, similar to those injected by a king cobra into a captured mouse, spreading instantly through the blood, numbing the nerves while melting muscle tissue.

It could be said that from the moment he was poisoned, Lu Ban had already begun to be digested.

If it continued, what would be left of Lu Ban would eventually be nothing more than a puddle of decayed, easily digestible flesh, along with a skeletal frame.

The thought was somewhat appetizing.

And the greatest danger of this toxin was that it was difficult to separate from the body.

The method seen in movies where one sucks on a wound to remove the toxin was utterly unable to completely peel away the poison unless a vampire came and drained all of Lu Ban’s blood on the spot, and even that had to be done before the blood seeped into the organs, otherwise death was certain.

For this reason, seeing Lu Ban collapse and not get up, as his body began to emit smoke and bubbles formed, Mad Poison could only say one thing, “It’s too late, organism.”

Mad Poison had never imagined that Lu Ban could still survive.

The organs affected by the toxin were melting and breaking down at a speed faster than normal, turning into a mushy mess of flesh. Mad Poison tried to exit Lu Ban’s body but found himself unable to move.

The sticky mush enveloped every inch of the bubbles, firmly binding Mad Poison inside, and the smoke molded Lu Ban’s form, continuously kneading until the mush refashioned itself into a human shape.

And all the toxin had been infused into that clump of air.

Mad Poison, of course, couldn’t be affected by the toxin he created; among the poisons he made, only a few were tailored for the Misty City people, who were gaseous life forms without physical bodies. Those toxins were extremely complex, blending Mad Poison’s superpower ability, and common people would not be able to master and utilize them.

And the toxins aimed at organic bodies were nothing to fear for a gaseous life.

However, Mad Poison still felt a peculiar premonition.

He was now preparing to escape, trying to burst Lu Ban with the simplest expansion.

Suddenly, Mad Poison felt some whispers in his mind.

These whispers were like those encountered when facing those indescribable monstrous horrors.

Like the murmurs from the most ancient and deep evil in the cosmic void, though the meaning was unclear, mere moments of listening were enough to plunge him into madness born from a loss of sanity.

The murmurs came from all directions, Mad Poison could not avoid them, and his whole being stopped its expansion process, boiling inside just like those huge gaseous planets swirling with intense activity.

In Mad Poison’s view, the text warning of his decreasing sanity cascaded down like a waterfall, but he hardly had the capacity to feel fear.

Until the final moment he remained conscious, the thoughts echoing in Mad Poison’s mind were about the considerations before entering the mission.

“Is this what [Splendid] difficulty is?”

“Burp—”

Lu Ban burped, as if he had just eaten something that caused bloating.

[Chosen by Gods eliminated 1/???]

In his view, silver text coldly and indifferently emerged.

“Hm?”

Lu Ban noticed that there was no detailed number displayed behind the prompt.

Did this mean that more than one Chosen by Gods would appear in Utopia?

Surely not every faction had at least one Chosen by Gods behind them?

Was Utopia so important that it warranted various Divine Beings to send their stalwart delegates to compete here?

Lu Ban was beginning to understand why the mission difficulty was labeled as [Splendid].

Perhaps behind Utopia, there were even more significant matters involved, necessitating many Chosen by Gods to resolve the issues.

Actually, even in the Silent Lands, Lu Ban and Du Danping, both Chosen by Gods, had joined the competition.

But at least, the Chosen by the Yellow Sand Brotherhood should have been dealt with here.

Next, Lu Ban only needed to expose the poison present in the food they provided. He wouldn’t even need to act himself, as Cleopatra would be sanctioned by the laws of Utopia.

He left behind a portion of flesh here as a remnant corpse, took the box containing the food, and then bypassed those from the Yellow Sand Brotherhood waiting to collect the bodies, returning to the city.

However, Lu Ban had not yet had time to consider his next move when he saw the city become noisy again.

Many citizens were heading towards the city square, where a thrilling debate seemed about to take place.

Lu Ban casually grabbed a passerby to ask.

“Heard that the Wild Wolf Guard has big news to announce, they are gathering everyone in the city.”

The passerby seemed to be unaware of what was happening.

“Wild Wolf Guard?”

Lu Ban followed to join in the excitement.

On the way, he also saw Baobao, Ke Cheng, and Feng Yu joining the mass.

“How did it go on your end?”

Feng Yu inquired.

“It’s been dealt with, I just need to find the right moment to expose this food.”

Lu Ban replied, feeling the thrill of exposing inferior products on a 315 consumer rights show.

They arrived at the city square and found a spot with an open view to sit down.

The square was already full of people, maybe not all, but at least more than half of the citizens were there.

However, this wasn’t a debate, at least Lu Ban didn’t see anyone other than the Wild Wolf Guard on the stage.

Instead, some from the Yellow Sand Brotherhood, Quicksand Council, and academies were in the front row, even Hippocrates and Cleopatra were present.

Lu Ban saw a burly man with bronze skin and muscular build walk to the forefront.

He wore armor made from the chitinous shells of insects, also showing no signs of Crystals, and was nearly forty, surely a Saint too.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am Ares of the Wild Wolf Guard. Today, I have summoned you here to make an announcement,”

the man said.

It seemed he truly was a Saint.

After a brief introduction, he continued.

“As you all know, the Yellow Sand Brotherhood has been distributing food throughout Utopia in recent times, which should have been an act of goodwill. However, unexpectedly, we have found that the food they have been distributing contains poison!”

As soon as Ares spoke these words, there was an uproar among the people.

The citizens were buzzing with discussion, and the expressions of those sitting in the front row varied.

The representative from the academies was surprised; they immediately looked toward Cleopatra from the Yellow Sand Brotherhood who was sitting beside them.

The Quicksand Council, however, seemed to feel as if it was expected, silently watching everything with a cold eye.

As for Cleopatra, her expression remained unchanged, just quietly listening to Ares’s words, as if the matters being discussed were completely unrelated to her.

“We of the Wild Wolf Guard never lie, and now I can provide the evidence.”

Saying this, Ares gestured and a few burly men brought up a round barrel.

That was precisely the container used by the Yellow Sand Brotherhood to distribute food.
