I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 848 - 848 847. Reincarnated into Another World
Chapter 848: 847. Reincarnated into Another World Chapter 848: 847. Reincarnated into Another World Ke Cheng had never read any web novels and was naturally not very clear about concepts such as “unlimited flow,” “main god space,” “myriad realms,” and the like. When he saw those words, he had a sense of unreality.
“This place is virtual after all.”
He then ridiculed his own thoughts.
It was just a game, after all.
It might also be explanatory text to enhance the sense of immersion.
Ke Cheng stared at those words, sinking into deep thought.
Had he ever truly lived?
As a child, inheriting his parents’ expectations, he only focused on studying, and the few hobbies he had were extinguished under the relentless barrage of exams.
When it came to work, he had no time to enjoy life, only thinking about earning more money while he was young.
In the end, it all came to nothing.
He laughed, thinking he was being oversensitive—it was just a passage of text, after all.
He clicked “Yes.”
Suddenly, the starry sky around him seemed to undergo some changes, becoming mysterious and profound, and ahead, a wooden door emerged.
At the same time, a series of words cascaded like a waterfall in front of Ke Cheng’s eyes.
“Authentication Successful”
“Welcome to becoming the 37th Silent Chosen One”
“System Loading…”
“System Loaded”
“The aim of this System is to improve the host’s living conditions, enhance the level of spiritual entertainment, and enrich a perfect life.”
“All functions of this System are open for free access, no recharge required. Please be vigilant against any form of recharge scam information.”
“Arrange your time reasonably, enjoy a healthy life.”
“We wish you a pleasant life”
“…”
Ke Cheng was momentarily speechless.
The content of the words was too much like instructions for a game.
Well, this was a game, so no problem there.
He pushed open the old-style bronze door, and soon, amid swirling mists, he felt as if the world was spinning, the surrounding scenery losing its color, turning into a shade of gray.
When he stood on solid ground again, he felt an intense sense of vertigo.
He initially thought there was a problem with his sense of balance, but soon, Ke Cheng realized that wasn’t the issue.
He was standing on a ship.
The ship looked like something from the medieval era, also fitted with sails, and the sailors bustled to and fro, dressed in what appeared to be Eastern-style clothing.
“Enemy attack, enemy attack, raise the flags, everyone to the cannons, prepare to meet the enemy!”
A man who looked like the captain was grasping the wheel, shouting commands amidst the gale wind.
Not far away, a storm was brewing, and atop the waves, a black ship emerged, rocking in the swell.
On that ship flew a black flag, adorned with a skull emblem, just like the legendary pirate ships.
“Is this scene… real?”
Ke Cheng felt the moisture from the waves on his face, heard the howling wind; he had never experienced such a scene before—he had never even been out to sea.
This feeling was more real than any game, even more real than the world Ke Cheng usually perceived.
He felt his blood surging; since his diagnosis, his world had come to a standstill, but now, the pounding in his chest gave him a concrete feeling of being alive.
Simultaneously, silver-gray text appeared once more in his field of vision.
“Mysterious Seas”
“Above the ocean, there are countless legends of treasures.”
“The Pirate King, after a lifetime of amassing, has buried his gold on an unnamed islet, shipwrecks laden with treasures lie in shallow bays, and within mysterious caverns, secrets of eternal life.”
“Mermaid’s singing, sea monsters rampage, storms clash with steel, and legends unfold here.”
“You sail with the fleet, all for the pursuit of the Golden Wine that grants immortality. With just a sip of that golden liquid, all illness and pain would leave you.”
“Mission Objective: Find the Golden Wine.”
“Is this really a game? It’s too real.”
Had it not been for these words emerging to remind Ke Cheng that this was a game, he would have mistaken it for actually crossing into Another World.
“Golden Wine… The Elixir of Life, does it really exist?”
Ke Cheng, noticing the description of the mission, felt his heartbeat accelerate.
If this world truly had Golden Wine, could it heal his own sickness?
“No, this is just a game, what am I thinking?”
He mocked himself, certain that he was overwhelmed by the too-realistic scenes which made him fantasize so wildly.
Anyway, the goal of this game should be to defeat the Pirates and find the treasure, just like those Indiana Jones adventures.
As Ke Cheng thought this, he heard a voice.
“This isn’t a game.”
It was a clear voice, as crisp as a chilly mountain spring, coming from a young girl sitting atop the mast.
She wore sailor’s leather pants and a vest, with boots, and her black hair fluttered in the wind. There was a smile on the girl’s face that looked somewhat carefree yet impossible to ignore.
Ke Cheng had never seen such a beautiful girl before. He was momentarily stunned, unable to regain his senses even with the barrage of cannon fire.
“You’ve come to Another World, but don’t worry, I will make sure you leave here with at least your life.”
The girl flipped down from the mast and landed solidly on the deck.
Bang—
Cannonballs blasted from the cannons toward a distant pirate ship, several falling into the water and causing towering splashes.
In this critical situation, Ke Cheng’s gaze was unable to drift away from her.
“Another World? Not a game?”
Ke Cheng thought the girl was joking.
But then, he sensed something amiss.
“Aren’t you an NPC? How do you know I’m not from this world? Are you a player too?”
He quickly asked.
“Why don’t you try logging out?”
The girl looked at Ke Cheng with a playful gaze, posing the question.
Ke Cheng immediately searched for the log-out option, but after a careful look, he realized it truly wasn’t there.
Wanting to remove his helmet, Ke Cheng, no matter how he moved, couldn’t touch the actual helmet.
“Stop thinking about all that nonsense; they’ll be here soon. You better focus on surviving for now.”
The girl smirked with a hint of teasing, pointing ahead.
Ke Cheng watched the approaching pirate ship, feeling his heartbeat throb in his ears, a sense of unprecedented anticipation rising in his chest.
Had he truly crossed into Another World?
Here, was his body healthy?
And was this clearly not the modern day, but the Great Nautical Era, complete with the Golden Wine for immortality?
Countless thoughts swirled and fermented in his mind, and Ke Cheng suddenly felt rejuvenated.
He looked at the Pirates, now close enough to discern their faces, and courage surged from his palms.
Picking up a weapon, Ke Cheng felt for the first time, so vividly real, the sensation of being “alive.”
Behind him, the beautiful girl gave a charming smile, as if awaiting a good show.
