I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 822 - 822 821. Cradle Song
Chapter 822: 821. Cradle Song Chapter 822: 821. Cradle Song Tall humans, technologies surpassing their times, fighting against pollution in various Foreign Domains, even capable of sealing the Outer Gods and the Ancient Overlord.
These elements combined made Lu Ban think of that civilization that had been destroyed.
Realizing this, he felt there was no need to hide anymore.
“Are you people from the Splendid Realm?” he asked directly.
“The Splendid Realm? If you mean the Splendid Library, I can only say I once interned there. It was a painful yet beautiful experience, haha.”
Old Song, however, did not concede.
Lu Ban thought it was quite normal, just as the ancients wouldn’t call themselves people of the Tang or Han dynasty; the term Splendid Realm was probably coined by later generations.
“We’re not experimental subjects,” Lu Ban said once more.
“Not experimental subjects? That’s odd, Yang indeed created some beings your size; aren’t you the ones he brought along earlier for experiments?”
Old Song slightly furrowed his brows, leaned in closer, his head very large, giving a strong sense of oppression.
“I’m not quite sure who this Yang is, but we, um, consider ourselves your descendants, we are from the future,” Lu Ban said.
“The future, how intriguing, so Yang’s experiment actually succeeded.”
Old Song raised a finger, gently rubbed Lu Ban’s head, and then spoke again.
“So, you’ve come from the future to help us?”
“Not exactly help…” Lu Ban pondered how to explain.
He wasn’t sure if, in his perspective, the already destroyed Splendid Realm, there were still many people combating pollution within those temporal anchor points.
For those giants who had been fighting for seven thousand years, they might not know yet that their homeland had already been obliterated.
“We are here to help you,” Shia chimed in at that moment.
“We need to witness the germination of some matters; how do you handle the pollution here?”
“Germination?” Old Song’s eyes darted around, he thought for a moment, then shook his head.
“I don’t know about any germination, our current method of dealing with pollution is simple, using some God-given equipment to keep the pollution’s activity very low, just pressing down the concentration, ensuring it doesn’t spread.”
“Controlling pollution?” Shia sounded puzzled; it was well known that in Foreign Domains, only pollution could fight pollution. If the people of the Splendid Realm could control pollution, that would be terrifying.
“Not controlling pollution, just reducing the activity level of these pollutants, strange, since you’re from the future, haven’t you been taught the corresponding knowledge?”
Old Song asked doubtfully, but he wasn’t hung up on these matters and instead pointed to the red sky in the center of the island.
“Pollution, or let’s say knowledge, inherently has different levels of activity, the highest level of activity, we term it [Splendid], this level of pollution can only be disseminated by the supreme Outer Gods. That knowledge, or say pollution, will spontaneously spread towards every possible place, devouring other less active pollutants; indeed, we still haven’t found a specific way to deal with [Splendid] grade pollution.”
“And going further down, [Sublimation], [Mutation], [Corrosion] grade of pollution is less and less active, while the most common [Mortal] level of pollution has been deemed by the Library as not needing special handling. Even if ordinary people actively engage with it, read it, it won’t cause severe consequences.”
“What we aim to do is to make these active pollutions inactive.”
He withdrew his hand, a few low rumbles came from ahead, like the thunder before a storm.
“As to how to make them inactive, that involves the workings of the God-given Equipment, the specific structure might also be a pollutant for you so I won’t go into detail, but just know a theory, that higher-order pollution can suppress lower-order pollution, under the presence of higher-order pollution, the lower-order ones become inert, even more inactive.”
“[Lullaby], this is commonly used God-given Equipment to control Outer Gods level pollution; it can connect to some things you definitely don’t want to know about, using that end’s pollution to suppress this end’s pollution.”
Listening to Old Song’s explanation, Shia was even more puzzled.
“But as you said, you just introduce one form of pollution to combat another; what if that [Lullaby] gets out of control?”
“That is precisely the issue,” Old Song said and snapped his fingers silently, seeming to appreciate Shia’s point.
“[Lullaby] only puts those pollutants into temporary dormancy, but one day they will awaken again, and right now, we are dedicated to finding a way to completely eradicate pollution.”
Lu Ban remained silent.
This was as far as he knew about the history of the Splendid Realm.
The people of the Splendid Realm, in their quest for a way to fight pollution, traveled across all Foreign Domains, conducted countless studies, and eventually discovered that the whole world would inevitably sink into the abyss, which led them into the deepest despair and ultimately extinction.
And now, at the time point where Old Song resided, they had not yet touched the Wall of Sighs, still hopeful about the future.
Lu Ban did not know whether he should tell them about the outcome of the Splendid Realm.
It might be somewhat cruel, but Lu Ban thought that if Old Song and the others here gave up, it could cause significant changes in the history of The Island. The pollution brought by an Outer God was definitely not something Pure Fire could purge.
Since The Island would plant Divine Sakura, then the efforts of Old Song and his colleagues here must have achieved some results.
Even for the sake of The Island’s later history, Lu Ban needed to deceive them to some extent.
“What would happen if you guys failed?” Shia asked.
“The best case scenario is that the legion over there sends another team to anchor us; the worst case, perhaps they’d directly apply waste disposal to this Foreign Domain, sealing it completely, eradicating everything within,” Old Song said and then sighed.
“I really like the ocean here; if it had to be disposed of, that would truly be a pity.”
Shia stayed silent, knowing that what Old Song said was actually very reasonable.
If this Foreign Domain fell, then all the creatures here would mutate into monsters, and that Outer God might open a path to other Foreign Domains, spreading the pollution further. In this case, rather than losing several Foreign Domains, it would be more ruthless to sacrifice just this one.
In the long battle of the Splendid Realm against pollution, the worlds they saved might be as many as those destroyed.
And this time, whether it was witnessing the germination of the Divine Sakura, allowing The Island to continue, or witnessing its destruction amid the roaring awakening of the Outer God, remains unknown.
