I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 816 - 816 815. What is Lu Ban eating tonight
Chapter 816: 815. What is Lu Ban eating tonight? Chapter 816: 815. What is Lu Ban eating tonight? Lu Ban looked at the plate.
A roast chicken—with several legs.
That wasn’t all.
Those roast suckling pigs had multiple eyes as well.
The fish fins had sprouted numerous tentacles; had they not been solidified, they probably would be writhing ceaselessly, attempting to seize other things.
The vegetables also exhibited an eerie appearance, akin to sprouting from the viscera of animals.
“Ugh—”
Zhang Zheng immediately vomited out what he had just eaten. On the deck, the vomit showed a deep purple color, seemingly still trembling slightly.
“Are you guys okay?”
Zhang Zheng looked at the three people and asked in surprise.
“It’s not a big problem.”
Lu Ban felt something rubbing against his teeth. Assuming it was bits of meat, he reached in to touch, but pulled out a slippery, dark tentacle that kept writhing. Touching Lu Ban’s skin, the smooth surface of the tentacle suddenly turned rough, forming sharp teeth that bit into Lu Ban’s skin, drawing the flesh and blood beneath.
He jolted in alarm, then bit off the tentacle, chewed it several times, before swallowing.
“Are you really okay…”
Zhang Zheng looked towards Shia again.
Shia patted her belly; no tentacles emerged from her mouth, nor was there any strange undulation in her abdomen.
He finally looked towards Baobao.
“Baobao is about to die; you have to save Baobao!”
The girl dressed in white and scarlet hakama clutched her throat, foaming at the mouth, seeming on the verge of death.
With a thud, the petite girl collapsed onto the ground, convulsed, and then lay unmoving.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Zhang Zheng hurriedly wanted to rush over to check, but Shia quickly held him back.
“How much longer do you want to play?”
Shia asked.
In a moment, the still, breathless girl twitched slightly, then got up again, acting as if nothing had happened.
“Don’t you two care about me at all?”
Baobao looked at Lu Ban.
“We’re more concerned about the chicken legs you ate than about you.”
Lu Ban reached out to touch the fish’s tentacles on the plate; they didn’t move. He plucked them off, and the writhing tentacles quickly began to entangle around his fingers.
“It seems that because of our arrival, the flow of time here has been affected.”
Shia said.
She had cast a spell on each sailor coming aboard, allowing them to resist the extraordinary powers of this place. This influence could gradually spread, causing the objects that were originally frozen in time to revert to their original timeline.
“These things could maintain their original state while trapped in solidified time, but if time flow resumed, they would manifest a polluted state… It should be the same for these people.”
Shia realized, and she immediately looked towards Zhang Zheng.
“Tell the sailors to go back, don’t touch anything here.”
As soon as her words fell, they heard a scream.
Zhang Zheng looked in the direction of the scream, only to find the sailors who had been standing there examining the situation had vanished without a trace.
“Where did they go?”
Zhang Zheng asked the other sailors, baffled, but they looked confused and oblivious to what had happened.
Without acting recklessly, Zhang Zheng ordered them to leave at once.
The two sailors had just nodded, turned to head for the rope ladder on the ship’s side when they suddenly disappeared into thin air.
“Ah—”
With an increasingly deepening cry, they disappeared out of existence.
“What, what happened?”
Zhang Zheng felt a visceral fear, not daring to move, standing only beside the three, as if this was the safest place in the world.
“Do you see it?”
Shia asked Lu Ban in a low voice.
“Only a general idea.”
Lu Ban replied. He placed his hand near the shoulder of one of the diners, and in an instant, an illusory book appeared above the diner. Lu Ban, holding a silver “Testament” pen, flipped open the book.
“[An honest merchant, who never deceives his own desires]”
“[Planning to make this last deal and then return home for retirement, this flag is planted too steadily]”
“[Having withstood the test of time without ageing, he even grew some unique organs, how marvelous!]”
“[Just a simple touch and he can bring unparalleled pleasure to everyone, don’t you want to try it?]”
The text was written in a similar vein.
From the outside, this diner showed no changes, just the appearance of an ordinary middle-aged man. In reality, however, he had been corrupted by pollution, mutated into a monster.
The humans and food on this ship are probably similar.
The Windless Belt must indeed contain pollution, only because of the extraordinary powers that cause time to freeze, these polluted beings could not mutate. However, as soon as their time started to flow again, the mutations would immediately become apparent.
Just like when Lu Ban touched the roast chicken earlier, the mutation of the chicken started to occur rapidly, with several legs growing out, and those chicken legs quickly mutated into twisted monsters.
Lu Ban didn’t know.
But why would the sailors disappear?
Lu Ban was curious.
He could see that when the sailors vanished, there seemed to be some dark shadows covering them.
But how could these shadows remain undetected under Lu Ban’s “True Sight”?
His gaze swept over the ship, but there were no abnormal conditions to be found.
The sailors on their original ship showed no anomalies and were still waiting for Lu Ban and others to return.
Although Baobao was here, there should not be any major troubles. However, Lu Ban speculated that according to Baobao’s character, even if she noticed something she would not tell him. Instead of giving out strategies for Lu Ban and Shia to clear the level quickly, Baobao would probably prefer to watch how they coped.
It was like watching a live stream, where watching the streamer clear the game quickly with a guide was not interesting; what was enjoyable was seeing the unexpected entertainer’s effects that would occur.
As Lu Ban was looking around, Shia suddenly disappeared next to him.
As if she had never existed, the armored girl vanished into thin air without a trace.
Not even a scream.
“What, what’s going on?”
Zhang Zheng’s voice trembled as he approached Lu Ban, looking around in an attempt to grasp Lu Ban.
“Don’t panic.”
Lu Ban said, his hand clutching Zhang Zheng as he threw him back towards the rope ladder, rolling Zhang Zheng back onto his own ship.
He glanced at that ship, the sailors were still moving as usual.
It seemed that Shia was still alive; otherwise, her spell would directly lose effect, and those sailors would gradually be captured by the Windless Belt, their time frozen.
So, where did Shia go?
Lu Ban looked at Baobao.
“Do you know something?”
“I only know what I know,” Baobao said with a giggly smile, seemingly unafraid of the current environment.
“If you’re willing to entertain me a bit, I can offer you some external assistance.”
“What entertainment?”
Lu Ban asked.
“What I want is some of that, the palpitations of youth, the trembling ambiguity, the sweetness of love, the annoyance of quarrels, the painful decisiveness, the deep-seated hatred… What kind of chaotic emotions can you offer me?”
Baobao grinned as if looking at a dish she had always wanted to taste.
“…I’ll look for her myself first.”
Lu Ban didn’t think accepting Baobao’s proposal would be easier than searching on his own. After thinking for a moment, he put his hand directly on that diner again.
Suddenly, the middle-aged man’s flesh swelled and something burrowed out from under his skin.
