I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 809 - 809 808. Midsummer The Island Great Adventure

Chapter 809: 808. Midsummer! The Island! Great Adventure! Chapter 809: 808. Midsummer! The Island! Great Adventure! Fear and despair, pain and sorrow, these were Baobao’s favorite sustenance.

In terms of universal theory, even without these emotions to enjoy, she wouldn’t starve to death.

Just as people wouldn’t die without movies to watch, these emotions were simply pure entertainment for her.

In childhood, many could conjure up a grandiose civilization story from a puddle of water and, after losing interest, would kick it away without a second thought. Baobao shared the same attitude towards such entertainment.

If she found it amusing, she would treat her playthings seriously, caring for them delicately; but if she lost interest, casually discarding them would be the best outcome.

Seeing those pirates driven into frenzy, eventually turning on each other, the sailors and Captain Zhang Zheng exchanged bewildered looks.

If Shia’s magic was considered wondrous and powerful, then the actions of the girl in the white clothing and red hakama could only be described as cruel and cunning.

Merely with words, she was able to make others offer up their lives, a feat even more terrifying than witchcraft.

It even made one wonder if they themselves had been bewitched, trapped in some Illusion Realm without their knowledge.

In Zhang Zheng’s mind, these passengers were sponsors of his treasure hunting venture, but unexpectedly, they proved to be much more capable than himself.

Zhang Zheng even began to suspect they were after his ship.

Harboring such doubts, Zhang Zheng glanced once more at the girl in white and red.

The girl gave him a sweet smile.

“Lady, I am willing to be your ox and horse, exerting myself to fulfill your wishes,” Zhang Zheng felt his knees weaken and make intimate contact with the deck.

“Then let’s go to the pirates’ stronghold,” Baobao ordered with satisfaction.

Captain Zhang Zheng immediately organized the sailors to board the two remaining pirate ships, disguising themselves as pirates, and headed for the location marked on the map Lu Ban had provided.

Although these pirate ships were unsuitable for long voyages, their speed was truly fast; without control, they quickly distanced themselves from the ship carrying Lu Ban and the others.

“Summertime! Island! Great adventure!”

Baobao stood at the bow, cheering for the sailboat, trying to outpace the neighboring pirate ship, while muttering surf-side words that came from who knows where.

Fortunately, Baobao hadn’t learned too much abstract speech yet, and her comments weren’t so outrageous as to be exasperating, and as for being a mischievous tease, Lu Ban didn’t mind at all.

As long as Baobao was happy.

“Hoo hoo hoo!”

Baobao huffed vigorously, as if trying to make the ship go even faster, observing the sea with the curiosity of a child.

“The water here is very clear, completely different from the water near He Dao later on,” Lu Ban commented.

After being polluted, the waters of He Dao were no longer clear, shadows lingered over the seabed, and ghastly monsters occupied the ocean, devouring all living things. Even on a sunny day, the sea appeared murky and filthy. Only Pure Fire could burn away all sins, returning the whole world to its original purity.

“This water…”

Baobao leaned in, looking towards the sea at the front of the ship.

“It’s like the last glimmer released when a star is extinguished, dazzling to behold.”

She spoke earnestly.

“Isn’t your analogy a bit too preposterous?”

Lu Ban rarely made such a remark, but he looked ahead and could already see a different color on the sea horizon—it was a small island. By area, it was probably even smaller than the neighborhood where Lu Ban lived, small enough to be taken in at a glance.

The mountain ranges on the island were covered with green trees. In this era, human exploitation of nature had not reached the degree it would later on, and the pirates lacked the ability and technology to construct a true paradise in this desolate place.

If the pirates really had such capabilities, they probably wouldn’t have needed to turn to banditry.

After all, from what Lu Ban had seen, the rule over He Dao was quite lax. Each island’s Island Steward basically governed autonomously. As long as they paid taxes to the Great Shrine of Harmony Island on time, there were no issues. Compared to the layered exploitation in Abandoned Capital, this place could indeed be considered a paradise on earth.

Thus, becoming a pirate must really mean having no other skills at all.

Just now, when Lu Ban was probing the other person’s memory in search of coordinates for the island, he mostly came across thoughts filled with lustful desires, or thoughts as petty as a child’s spite, like getting revenge by eating three rice balls today because they had two yesterday.

Although that could hardly be considered a multitude of thoughts, one could at least say their minds were empty.

Before, Lu Ban had seen some prisons arrange for inmates to learn traditional crafts, and even some at-risk cultural heritages were taught to prisoners due to the scarcity of apprentices. After all, there’s not much to do in prison; aside from labor, there’s learning, which is the best way to quiet the mind and appreciate classical beauty.

There were those who sought enlightenment in Dragon Field before, and now there weren’t a few who sought enlightenment in prison. Some even became inheritors of intangible cultural heritage after being released, contributing to the promotion and greatness of traditional arts.

If these pirates were fortunate enough to be imprisoned, Lu Ban thought, he could also guide them in seeking enlightenment.

From afar, Lu Ban could see some people on the island.

They were not the weak or sick but the same kind of pirates as those on the ship before.

It was visible that there were two ships moored at the simple port: one a familiar two-masted sailing ship, and another, a three-masted vessel, presumably used for long voyages, moving between outposts and nearby islands.

“This haul isn’t bad at all; we actually captured a whole ship.”

From a distance, Lu Ban could read the lips of the pirates on the dock and mimicked their words.

“I wonder if there are any women; it’s been a long time since I ****ed.”

He repeated this along with some other words not suitable to be said in front of children.

“There’s no need to translate it word for word.”

Shia asked Lu Ban not to repeat such vulgar language anymore and was preparing to raise her hand to find a way to blast those pirates with a shot.

But the scholar Ah Xiang immediately stopped her.

“Wait, wait, Miss Shia, we need to keep the dock intact; otherwise, it won’t be convenient to dock.”

He reminded her.

Shia thought for a moment and realized he was right.

So, she changed her gesture, much like drawing a bow, pulling her right hand gently back while her fingers slightly came together.

The next moment, as her fingers released, some kind of invisible arrow shot forth, stirring up a violent wind around her.

In the blink of an eye, this magical arrow had reached the dock.

The pirate who had been fantasizing about women didn’t even have time to react before he burst into a cloud of blood.

From the point of impact, the massive force of the blast spread out, pulverizing those carefree sunbathing pirates on the island, who looked like seals, into dust.

But the dock remained unscathed, awaiting the arrival of Lu Ban and his companions.
