I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 802 - 802 801. We elbow
Chapter 802: 801. We elbow Chapter 802: 801. We elbow In Lu Ban’s hand appeared a human skull, around which black flames seemed to swirl.
This struck Lu Ban as odd, as he wondered what it might signify.
A tenfold could directly procure information, so Lu Ban didn’t hesitate to choose this mission.
Crushing the skull, black flames suddenly surged, enveloping him completely.
In Lu Ban’s ear, murmurs accompanied by the flames lingered incessantly.
“…Have you heard of the sea area with no wind at all, the absolute Windless Belt, where any ship that enters can never escape…”
“…There are mermaids at sea who sing, and if one is lured by their song, they would never be able to leave, lost in the sea forever…”
“…Have you seen a real storm, stretching over miles, where even the sea surface and the sky blur together, with thunderbolts connecting the ocean and the clouds like a spiderweb, and water twisters acting as pillars holding up the sky, surviving such a storm is already the greatest fortune…”
“…I have seen some peculiar creatures, gathering like shadows underwater, and in the blink of an eye, they covered the whole ship and then, right before my eyes, that ship disappeared, it was gone…”
“…Can you hear that voice, the one from the deep sea, it seems to be calling me, yes, it’s calling me back, where should I go, who am I…”
Lu Ban slightly closed his eyes, digesting this knowledge from a foreign domain.
This level of knowledge didn’t elicit any particular reaction from him anymore.
“It doesn’t seem like this is Earth…”
Lu Ban thought.
The scenes he saw were not of ancient Earth but of a place mostly engulfed by water, with only a few islands scattered through the seas, and many monsters, unlike this harmonious and loving world.
Thinking of many waters and an island-filled foreign domain, Lu Ban thought of He Dao.
However, if the previous mission had been to He Dao, it would certainly have included elements like cherry blossoms, Pure Fire, or Shrine Maidens, but this time there was none of that information, which puzzled Lu Ban.
Be that as it may, Lu Ban had no other choice.
After all, he had “Underwater Breathing,” so drowning wasn’t a big deal.
Having prepared, Lu Ban even ordered a packet of seeds online.
These seeds were said to be viable for space travel, and under suitable conditions, they could even take root and grow potatoes on Mars.
Since the task was about sprouting, it made sense for Lu Ban to bring some seeds to plant.
He then sent a message to Feng Yu.
After their last encounter in Miskatonic, Feng Yu had vanished without a trace, seemingly off traveling somewhere, and hadn’t replied to Lu Ban’s message.
He also sent a message to Baobao.
Though he wasn’t sure if that woman ever checked her phone.
Unexpectedly, Baobao replied.
Char-grilled Salt and Pepper Seal: You’re going to He Dao? I’ll come too, together.
She seemed quite interested.
The next moment, Lu Ban found a girl sitting beside him.
Baobao was wearing a pink pajama top printed with a seal sunbathing and patting its belly, sitting on Lu Ban’s couch.
“We elbow.”
She said, evidently having spent a lot of time surfing the internet recently.
“Do you really want to go?”
Lu Ban asked skeptically.
He didn’t know if there was a version of Baobao on He Dao and was curious about what would happen if the two met.
“There’s something exciting to see, of course I want to go.”
Baobao said matter-of-factly.
Lu Ban didn’t stop.
After all, if she wanted to go, he could definitely go too.
And seals, they really do go well with the sea.
Thinking this, Lu Ban pressed a button on the remote.
“Enter the Silent Lands?”
“Yes/No”
He chose “Yes.”
In an instant, the image on the TV swelled like overflowing water and rapidly enveloped the room in distorted, chaotic colors, wrapping around Lu Ban.
Swiftly, Lu Ban disappeared from the living room as if fading away.
Baobao stood up, just having realized there was something in the room.
She glanced at where Lu Ban had just been seated, her lips curling into a mysterious smile.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he comes back in one piece.”
Having said that, Baobao snapped her fingers, and her figure quickly dimmed and disappeared as well.
Amidst the dizzying whirl, Lu Ban saw a yellow mist rushing toward him, but soon, the brilliance of a deep red planet occupied his view. The planet, covered in rust color yet resembling a mass of flesh, pulsed with life.
In the void, black tentacles sprouted and were torn by a ray of aquamarine light, ancient melodies echoed in Lu Ban’s ears, nameless fogs swallowed stars in the universe, countless civilizations were conceived, procreated, annihilated in the darkness, transient as morning dew.
All of this swiftly receded, and in the bizarre eternity, even death would vanish.
He came back to his senses and found the world still shaking.
No, to be precise, it was the ship.
Lu Ban found himself in a ship’s cabin, filled with a damp, musty stench, like socks soaked in water and left in leather boots for days, overwhelmingly intense.
The moist wood gave an unsettling feeling; Lu Ban looked around. This was his cabin with a simple bed, the bedding equally damp, reeking of mustiness.
On the table, a wooden bowl contained food, naturally fish.
A soup made from various unknown varieties of fish boiled with seaweed for garnish and looking utterly unappetizing.
Lu Ban picked up a spoon and took a sip.
The taste reminded him of the Night Country cuisine Shia favored, which couldn’t qualify as delicacies but might pass for swill.
The cup contained liquor, diluted as if watered down, hardly commendable in taste.
Navigating the sea took ages, and fresh water easily spoiled, so during the Great Nautical Era, sailors often stored liquor for its distillation provided some antibacterial and preservative effects, though the taste was not to be expected.
From outside the cabin came voices, sounding like shouts. Lu Ban pushed open the door and saw busy sailors.
The sailors neither greeted Lu Ban nor spared him a second glance.
Lu Ban made his way up the stairs to the deck.
Sunny and bright, the sails were raised, moving swiftly through the waves.
He saw a lady in armor standing at the bow, looking ahead.
“So, it’s you.”
Lu Ban greeted, and Shia turned around.
“Listen.”
But Shia didn’t respond to Lu Ban’s greeting, instead speaking directly.
“This mission is very dangerous, you might die here.”
