I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 792 - 792 791. Video Tape_1

Chapter 792: 791. Video Tape_1 Chapter 792: 791. Video Tape_1 Lu Ban and Feng Yu walked side by side.

They attracted quite a few glances.

Mainly because the girls would stop in their tracks upon seeing Lu Ban, leading to a traffic jam.

Lu Ban quickly fished out a mask and put it on for the sake of Miskatonic’s traffic safety.

“I mentioned to you before that there exists a hidden danger in North America, and I only later discovered that it was in Miskatonic.”

Feng Yu said as they walked.

Lu Ban carefully recalled and it seemed there was indeed such an occasion. Earlier, Feng Yu even joked that Lu Ban owed her a favor and had to accompany her to Massachusetts. Now it looked like Feng Yu had long since detected the problem with Miskatonic.

“This land is strange; since ancient times, there have often been occurrences of pollution and anomalies, until the problem arose here in Miskatonic.”

“Every year during the film festival, that space appears here. I’ve tried to investigate it before, but quickly ran into trouble. You must know, what lurks there is not just any common anomaly.”

Feng Yu and Lu Ban walked out of the school gate. The churches in Miskatonic were not as numerous as what Lu Ban had seen last night, and even though there were still some buildings with an antique style, this place was obviously more modern than that city scenery with a strong religious atmosphere.

It was unclear which era of Miskatonic Scott had captured; it must have been from an even earlier time.

“So you want me to go and test it out?”

Lu Ban slowed his pace slightly.

“Don’t worry, I’ve been keeping an eye on you. If anything unsolvable really comes up, I can join you in a lovers’ suicide.”

Feng Yu smiled as she pointed to the box of videotapes in Lu Ban’s hand.

“Who do you think gave you this videotape?”

“Was that old woman you?”

Lu Ban flipped the videotape in his hand.

“To be precise, I’ve been observing you through this reel of videotape, or how else would those texts have been left behind?”

Feng Yu replied.

To leave text hints out of thin air was indeed difficult, but for scenes in the movie, Feng Yu simply needed to find the corresponding film stock and then leave text on it.

Similarly, if she wanted to add something, she could simply add it directly into the film stock.

But this film stock was clearly left behind by a Chosen by the Gods and had a certain Extraordinary nature, preventing arbitrary changes.

Lu Ban looked at the videotape in his hand, as many words emerged.

[Welcome to the Miskatonic Film Festival]

[Metamorphosis]

[The Miskatonic Film Festival is a carnival for niche enthusiasts, a feast of horror, thriller, and imagination held here]

[This box of videotape is a movie about the film festival, somewhat thrilling, slightly horrifying, and very easy to get deeply involved in]

[Once played, it will inevitably proceed to the end, and as for the role you play in the movie, that’s up to the Director to decide]

[Do your utmost to survive until the end, or else, never become the first one to ‘get the lunchbox’]

[“Every home has a videotape that children shouldn’t see, and this is one of them.”]

This tape had already become an extraordinary item due to the pollution from the Ancient Overlord that was contained within it.

If this tape were played, it would absorb the surrounding people into it, making them experience a horror film, and the only way for them to escape was for the film to reach its end.

As for what the plot would be now that the Divine Idol of The High Mother Goddess had already been removed, Lu Ban wasn’t quite sure.

He stored the tape away and then pulled out the ball wrapped in stone.

“Then there’s this, how should we deal with it?”

The Divine Idol wrapped in stone was still corroding the outside world, and in just this short period, Lu Ban had discovered that some peculiar, dark purple moss had grown in the crevices of the stone; he hurriedly wiped it off.

“This is easy, we find a Foreign Domain that’s already been destroyed, and then toss it over there,” said Feng Yu, reaching out a hand to Lu Ban.

Lu Ban took her somewhat cold hand, and in the next instant, he felt the surrounding noises fade away as myriad dazzling colors enveloped him and Feng Yu. When they came to, they were already shrouded by the sunset.

“Is this… Dusk City?”

Lu Ban confirmed it; the decrepit scene and the eternal sunset indeed belonged to Dusk City, the Foreign Domain where the four-eyed people lived.

He remembered that he had spread some beliefs here in the past, and wondered what the situation was now.

“This place has completely succumbed to destruction,” Feng Yu indicated towards the front.

Lu Ban found that this was the spot where he had initially manifested the [Mysterious Amusement Park] and incidentally taken a group of four-eyed people with him; if he remembered correctly, there should be some ruins nearby.

The ruins were indeed still there.

However, the place had undergone significant changes compared to Lu Ban’s memory.

Previously, it had been a building leftover from the last era, already in a state of decay with only low-rise huts remaining.

But now, the ruins had clearly been somewhat rebuilt, the scale had expanded considerably, and the place where Lu Ban had located the amusement park had even become a giant city center plaza. One could imagine that a city of this size must have housed a large population, perhaps it became the political and cultural center of Dusk City after Lu Ban left.

But it was destroyed now.

Even the corpses had turned to dust, the once splendid buildings were left as nothing but ruins, overgrown with weeds, lifeless and silent.

If it had been due to war, then this city should have been occupied by the victors. However, now there was not a soul in sight, and the wilds around were vast and empty. Lu Ban suspected that some extremely strange event might have led to the silent destruction of the entire city.

“Dusk City was already a Foreign Domain nearing its twilight, replete with considerable pollution that no one could handle. Their Chosen by Gods ultimately couldn’t avert the disaster. They tried to summon new Divine Beings, so after a sacrificial ceremony, the past, present, and future of the entire Foreign Domain became sacrifices, offered up to that deity. Naturally, it did not grant salvation to this place,” Feng Yu sighed.

Even though Dusk City was an enemy state to the Foreign Domain where Lu Ban resided, and he had once fought against those four-eyed people, the complete extinction of a civilization that had still been hanging on left him with a feeling of cold desolation.

“And the Divine Being they summoned?” Lu Ban asked.

Feng Yu did not answer but pointed to the sky.

Lu Ban looked up and saw in that eternal twilight, a teal flame tearing through the sky, seemingly rising from beyond the horizon and falling to the other side. In the fissures of the earth, a verdant gas was spreading, evidently poised to devour the entire planet.
