I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 785 - 785 784. The Supreme Mother Goddess_1
Chapter 785: 784. The Supreme Mother Goddess_1 Chapter 785: 784. The Supreme Mother Goddess_1 In just a moment, James felt an excruciating pain in his hand. He looked at the entwined area, where the shape of his arm was gone, replaced by a blurry mess of blood and flesh.
Rather than fear, confusion took hold of his heart earlier.
If a gun were trained on him or a knife blade directed at him, fear would have been his first reaction because he understood what those “Deadly Weapons” meant. They could harm his body, take his life, and affect him in ways he could comprehend.
But now, lying in front of him was his girlfriend, with a hollow cavity in her abdomen, chilling teeth, and tentacles wriggling among her entrails—all beyond James’s understanding. He could not imagine how these things would torture him, erode his will.
It was like inputting a command into a computer program that exists outside its database, leaving the computer unable to process and subsequently crashing.
Faced with incomprehensible, immense danger, James also stopped thinking.
He couldn’t even scream, just staring blankly at his girlfriend.
“Dear, like this, we can be together forever,” she said with a smile.
Valeria’s smile cracked, quickly ripping into a gaping hole connected to the cavity in her abdomen, forming a maw beyond imagination. Numerous tentacles extended from within, completely enveloping James.
The instinct of his body, the will to survive, kicked in at that moment. James immediately struggled to back away, attempting to flee.
But behind him, a figure sat up.
“Wes, help me, please save me!”
James recognized him as his friend and called out desperately.
But Wes remained unmoved.
“So itchy… so itchy…”
He was scratching the blackened parts of his body as flesh festered and blood spattered inside the trailer, a gruesome sight.
James’s mind had crashed; even this scene did not provoke fear in him.
Compared to his girlfriend, who was about to devour him, even the blood-soaked Wes looked clean and handsome.
He grabbed Wes, fixating his gaze on Valeria.
The woman crawled forward, but not in a human posture. She lay belly-up, back against the ground, propping herself up on her elbows and bent legs. Her arms and legs, now covered in black hair and hardened at the ends like hooves, and her face had completely lost its human semblance. From her abdominal maw, innumerable tentacles formed a dense canopy similar to tree branches.
Valeria was mutating, transforming into a monster, a twisted and perverted sight that tormented James’s nerves.
Possibly due to blood loss from his arm wound, James’s consciousness grew blurry. In a daze, he saw Wes’s body, immobile yet seemingly trembling slightly.
After a moment, something burst forth from Wes’s body.
Like sprouts of a new plant, they broke through Wes’s mangled flesh, drawing nutrients from it and flourishing rapidly. Wes lay on the ground, lifeless, yet his mouth kept muttering incessantly.
“So itchy, so itchy, so itchy…”
His voice intertwined with Valeria’s footsteps, echoing in the trailer.
James felt his back being wrapped by something soft and slimy. The entity made contact with his skin, easily infiltrating beneath it as if his flesh and the tentacles were originally the same substance.
The sensation of his organs being seized and pulled by the tentacles caused a despair more chilling than pain, making James’s brain seethe.
The next moment, a massive force tore open the roof of the RV, launching the three people inside into the air. James felt dizzy, his head struck an unknown part of the vehicle, and he completely passed out.
“I certainly should have been inside the car, not underneath it.”
In Lu Ban’s hand, the silver revolver “Testament” gradually dimmed and disappeared.
He looked at the two individuals who had been normal humans just before, now transformed into twisted, ugly monsters. He felt no particular emotion as he approached one of the creatures, knocked down by the impact of car debris and covered in injuries.
Gently placing his hand on it, numerous words emerged.
“[Once human, but already mutated due to pollution]”
“[It worships a Divine Being born of darkness, that deity presides over reproduction and fertility, spawning countless offspring in the vast void, She is the supreme Mother Goddess]”
“[It feeds on flesh and blood, able to rapidly reproduce itself, a monster that can’t be killed in entirety]”
“[When you see these creatures, you should run away quickly!]”“The supreme Mother Goddess?”
As Lu Ban read these records, a strong sense of dizziness hit him, his brain overheated, even to the touch it was somewhat hot, which was highly unusual.
At his level of pollution, knowing the name of an Ancient Overlord wouldn’t normally affect him like this, giving Lu Ban reason to suspect that this deity of reproduction and fertility might be of an exceptionally high order.
“Are these creatures part of Her Clan, summoned by humans seeking power, resulting in Miskatonic becoming a cradle for monsters?”
The summoning ritual of a being of this level would inherently cause intense pollution, something humans wouldn’t typically be able to devise on their own, their mastery of such techniques most likely stemmed from contamination of a Foreign Domain.
There were many potential reasons for this to occur.
Perhaps it was due to some individuals with extremely high spiritual insight, who at certain times through specific methods, heard whispers echoing from the Foreign Domain, inadvertently learning names and, in a semi-mad state, recorded them for posterity.
It could also have been Chosen by Gods belonging to other Divine Beings who in the past had come here, just like on Jiangcheng Mountain, they spread dark beliefs on these lands, polluting the citizens.
Or it could be the work of some with perverse tastes, teaching the locals for their own purposes or simply for entertainment.
In any case, when such an extreme degree of contamination from a Foreign Domain arrived, humans couldn’t even resist; they could only be Corroded, mutate.
Yet, what was astonishing was that the Pollution from Miskatonic had almost no leakage.
Lu Ban looked up at the stars, knowing that the starry sky here wasn’t real; he theorized that the mist they had driven through earlier was some kind of special Seal, confining the city of Miskatonic here, preventing the Pollution from affecting the surrounding areas.
This place was like a larger Jiangcheng Mountain, or Pohnpei Island, concealing Indescribable terror, a trap only someone like Lu Ban would stumble into.
As for who was behind it and by what means, Lu Ban already had an idea.
He turned his gaze to the side, where another writhing monster attempted to struggle to its feet, its squirming tentacles reaching towards Lu Ban but easily dodged by him.
Lu Ban bent down and picked up the camera that had fallen to the ground. He turned it on and began recording the wide lawn ahead of him.
In the camera’s viewfinder, the lawn was filled with those twisted, ugly monsters.
Among the monsters, there stood a person.
