I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 761 - 761 760. Smart Treasure_1

Chapter 761: 760. Smart Treasure_1 Chapter 761: 760. Smart Treasure_1 The TV seemed to be broadcasting the news, intermittently, as if affected by a disrupted signal, just like an old color television.

But the problem is that this is a modern LCD screen, which theoretically shouldn’t display the snow-like static from the last century.

Lu Ban could only assume it was playing a video.

He watched the performance carefully.

“…Welcome, to watch, Jiangcheng Evening News…”

With the host’s words, the TV picture cleared up a lot, revealing the very retro layout of the studio, making one feel as if they had gone back several decades.

“The main news for today is, Jiangcheng Mental Health Center hosted a large gala today, where medical staff and patients sang and danced together, celebrating a joyous festival.”

As he spoke, the screen shifted to an image of the familiar North Road No. 900, only the Jiangcheng Mental Health Center here appeared much newer, as if from footage of earlier years.

Lu Ban saw a stage set up in the middle of the hospital yard, where performers were singing and dancing.

However, these performers were dressed in patient’s clothes and appeared to be acting in a sketch, but their movements were so vigorous that it looked like they were fighting.

The audience sitting below, dressed in doctor’s white coats, clapped woodenly, watching the stage performance without any emotional fluctuation, like wooden figures that had lost the ability to think.

Joyful music interjected, but the scene was fraught with an eerie and disquieting atmosphere.

“Next is the news, our city’s elementary schools resumed yesterday, as students returned to campus to start a new academic year. Now, let’s go to our journalist for the report.”

The image changed to a journalist standing at the entrance of an elementary school, with students passing by, which appeared quite normal. However, Lu Ban noticed that these students all seemed to dodge the journalist and dared not speak, like hostages under surveillance.

“Now let’s interview one of the new students who just enrolled today.”

As the journalist said this, he suddenly reached out and grabbed a lone elementary school student next to him, who immediately burst into loud cries.

“What are your expectations for the new school year?”

Despite the student’s crying, the journalist asked relentlessly, seemingly unaware of the student’s distress.

“Don’t eat me, don’t eat me, don’t eat me!”

The student kept shouting, struggling to break free, but the journalist’s hand firmly grasped the student’s shoulder, as if it was not a hand, but a claw.

“It seems that this student is quite looking forward to the new school year.”

Speaking, the journalist suddenly opened his mouth.

His mouth split open like it was fake, quickly widening to the height of a person, and in a matter of moments, the student was swallowed whole. The journalist’s mouth then returned to its normal size, and he revealed a smile.

“Let’s interview the next student.”

Hearing the journalist’s words, the elementary school students who had just suppressed themselves watching their classmate be eaten immediately began to scatter and run away. The journalist effortlessly caught another, repeated the process, and devoured them too.

“Jiangcheng Grand Theater staged a new play today, attracting many spectators to buy tickets and watch, creating a fervent atmosphere.”

Accompanied by the news anchor’s voice, the scene switched again to the familiar Jiangcheng Grand Theater, although the theater was clearly already destroyed by the fire Du Danping caused and lay in ruins, even as shown on the TV.

At the same time, it was still ablaze.

It was as if the great fire from years past hadn’t been extinguished at all, with flames burning fiercely inside the theater, creating an intensely heated atmosphere.

On stage, several actors were performing, their costumes scorched by the flames, gradually disintegrated. Their skin blistered and charred from the heat, yet they continued the performance as if nothing was amiss.

The audience below was also bathed in flames, many of them burnt down to withered skeletons, yet they still clapped, their hoarse voices cheering and acclaiming the actors above.

The whole scene appeared extremely eerie and genuinely uncomfortable.

With the end of this news broadcast, the television fell back into static.

Lu Ban waited a while, and then the screen jumped to reveal a rosy-cheeked child.

Upon closer inspection, the child was one of the elementary school students that the journalist had devoured earlier. His skin was pale, with only his cheeks showing an unnatural flush, as if painted on like mortuary makeup.

Moreover, his eyes were entirely black, without any whites, as he wore the shirt and uniform of his school, bearing an unnatural smile.

“I like drinking ‘Smart Treasure’ the best, ‘Smart Treasure’ helps me grow healthily and study happily!”

As he spoke, he picked up a brown bottle of medicine and gulped it down, some of the liquid leaking from the corner of his mouth, its crimson color resembling fresh blood.

After drinking the medicine, the student’s lips turned a vivid red, matching the blush on his cheeks, creating a bizarre and strange contrast.

“I also drink ‘Smart Treasure,’ my mom says that only after drinking ‘Smart Treasure’ can I get into a good school.”

Another student approached him, another one of the elementary students the journalist had swallowed, equally pallid, with only blush on his cheeks. He took the medicine bottle and drank it all down as well.

After both had finished drinking, they exchanged a glance and then turned to face the screen.

“Smart Treasure, your perfect study partner.”

Having said that, the tops of their heads, through their hair, split open like blossoming flowers, brains spurting out, forming a small sapling that bloomed on the screen.

The picture returned to static.

After watching all this, Lu Ban couldn’t be certain if these events had truly happened. After all, in this world, if there were indeed supernatural entities capable of creating such scenes, it’s likely that people wouldn’t even realize it.

He figured that this must be one of the reasons why the neighbors rumored about the lights coming on when nobody was around. If the TV suddenly started showing these things in the middle of the night, it would probably cause anyone watching to become neurotic and suspicious.

Lu Ban approached the TV filled with static, examining it closely, only to discover that it wasn’t even plugged in.

As he was fiddling with the television, the static suddenly disappeared, and a face appeared on the screen.

“Do you also want to drink ‘Smart Treasure’?”

The face belonged to the journalist, monstrous and frightening, his teeth clenched as if he was uttering the name of an enemy.

“You also want to drink ‘Smart Treasure’!!!”

He bellowed again, and the entire television set began to shake, as if something was about to crawl out from inside it.

“Don’t rush.”

Lu Ban uttered softly, and suddenly, text emerged from the television like pages of a book.

He materialized a silver fountain pen “Testament” in his right hand, and began to read the text appearing on the television.
