I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 715 - 715 714. Farming is still what suits me best_1

Chapter 715: 714. Farming is still what suits me best_1 Chapter 715: 714. Farming is still what suits me best_1 People always say that the Chinese have an innate talent for farming, but in reality, most are just like Ye Gong who adores dragons—they’re intrigued by even the mundane task of clicking away to play a digital hamster in a game, but when it comes to actually picking up a hoe and farming the land, they keep their distance.

Old Eggplant had intended to use a search engine, but a casual search for farming just led him to page after page of similar texts paired with images.

[What’s the deal with farming? I believe everyone is familiar with it, but what exactly is farming? Let’s have the editor take everyone to understand. Farming, in fact, is just farming. You all might be surprised, how can farming be just farming? But that’s the truth, and the editor is also quite amazed. So, that’s about it concerning farming; what are your thoughts? Feel free to tell the editor in the comment section.]

“What the heck, if there was any usefulness to this, it wouldn’t be completely useless.”

Old Eggplant decided to search on a video website instead, seeing as farming—well, who doesn’t understand farming? Isn’t it just about sowing, watering, and waiting for things to sprout?

It’s like putting an elephant into a refrigerator, isn’t it just opening the door, putting the elephant in, and then closing the door—three steps.

Saying it is one thing, doing it is quite another.

Without a video for reference, Old Eggplant was still uneasy.

He tried searching for key terms on an older video website.

Unfortunately, the site was still too young, and most of the results were game animation entertainment videos like [Steel-Hearted Farming Strategies][How to Farm in MC][Farming Suits Me Best].

After browsing for a while, Old Eggplant finally found a few real-world farming videos that hadn’t even reached ten thousand views.

He quickly learned a thing or two, watched the videos twice more, and then put on his helmet to return to the Night Country.

Due to the difference in the flow of time between the two realms, by the time Old Eggplant returned, the others had almost finished building the foundation of the wooden house.

Immediately, Old Eggplant picked up that bag of seeds, and while he still remembered how to sow them, quickly buried the seeds in the soil.

Unable to do it alone, he called others to help.

It took them over two hours to finish sowing all the seeds in the bag.

Old Eggplant was soaked in sweat. His helmet’s battery, after the morning’s wear and the recent toil, was nearly depleted, so he chose to log off.

After removing his helmet, Old Eggplant reflected on his actions in the game, feeling as if his real muscles were starting to ache.

He ordered some takeout and, while waiting for it to arrive and his helmet to recharge, he surfed the web for a bit.

All sorts of news, real and fake, flooded the internet, giving Old Eggplant a chance to see what the other players had done.

Then, Old Eggplant realized, this game really was something special.

There were players like him who went into the forest to fight Demonic Beasts, burned a swath through the Black Forest, cleared wasteland, and those who helped farmers and got paid for it. There were even players who, based on their knowledge, were directly recruited by the Baron into the Baron’s Mansion and attained the status of Knight.

Some players, whose spirit for adventure and exploration could never be quenched, walked forward through the forest. They carefully avoided the Demonic Beasts, and after roughly half a day’s journey, they compiled a detailed survey report on the Black Forest.

In short, many gameplay elements Old Eggplant had thought of, and hadn’t thought of, were being developed by the players.

However, the majority of players have come to realize a fact, that if they want to unlock more gameplay, they must develop Sunset Town.

Old Eggplant clicked into the forum, where most gaming forums already had a dedicated section for [Cage], but due to the limited number of players participating in the test, and those who could play the game being immersed in it, there weren’t many substantial posts—mostly speculative discussions by bystanders.

He clicked on a thread titled [Closed Beta Players, Let’s Unite, Develop the Wilderness, and Establish the Frontline against the Demonic Tide].

The thread was evidently posted by a tester who analyzed the current situation in Sunset Town and combined it with the lore of the Night Country, surmising that the game’s main storyline should be about battling the Demonic Tide. Without Mages, they would need to farm and develop their community in order to stand against the Demonic Beasts.

Old Eggplant agreed wholeheartedly.

The replies to the thread were quite genuine.

[Never thought that me, a bricklayer in real life, would still be a bricklayer in a game. Looks like I can never escape the fate of hard labor.]

[Isn’t this like a virtual reality version of Battle Royale, where you start with nothing and have to scavenge for everything you need?]

[From what the OP says, is this game basically a farming simulator?]

[You know what, farming by clicking with a mouse and actually digging in the soil feels totally different.]

[I followed the leader to burn those monsters in the forest, and the Baron even gave us weapons, so awesome!]

[How does that saying go? If you want to be rich, build roads first, have fewer children, and plant more trees!]

[Farming is just right for me, I’m gonna farm and be a hoarding mouse.]

[Seems like the strategy is to develop the wild land, expand the town, and upgrade equipment as much as possible. Just don’t know when we’ll be able to learn Magic.]

[Damn, watching you guys chat makes me really want to play, anyone selling their account? I’ll pay 5,000 for it.]

[Then I’ll offer 10,000.]

[It’s tied to facial recognition and device binding, you can’t even sell the hardware if you wanted to, otherwise scalpers would be everywhere.]]

Old Eggplant noted that many in the forums were discussing how to farm properly, how to prevent soil erosion, and how to deal with weeds—it was almost like an agriculture forum.

Some people were also being proactive, starting to research how to build defense towers.

Old Eggplant’s takeaway had arrived; he had ordered eggplant with braised pork and shredded potatoes with white rice.

Usually, Old Eggplant wasn’t picky about fast food takeout.

But today, perhaps it was the fatigue from farming that made the meal seem especially delicious to him.

The oil-soaked eggplant and the sour and spicy shredded potatoes, when mixed with the rice, were incredibly tasty; Old Eggplant polished off the food in no time, leaving only the takeaway containers behind, with no need for waste sorting.

Having dealt with personal matters, he saw that his helmet was almost fully charged and put it on again.

Returning to Night Country, Old Eggplant looked over the fields he had planted, and a sense of ambition welled up inside him.

In the past, his forebears had also braved the wilderness, clearing a path and exploring the unknown. Now, it was his turn.

He picked up a hoe and gazed at the Black Forest.

“Farming is really fun!”
