I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 692 - 692 691.【Revival】_1
Chapter 692: 691.【Revival】_1 Chapter 692: 691.【Revival】_1 “Is this description about the Wasteland? An era before it was completely overrun by the swarm?”
Lu Ban quickly thought of that civilization which had chosen to hang itself amidst madness.
Now, the mission also involved traveling to the early days of the Wasteland, and it seemed there might even be a chance to try and save the Wasteland.
Lu Ban thought about it and felt it wasn’t entirely impossible to accomplish.
For instance, to ensure the closed loop of fate remained unchanged, even if he truly saved the Wasteland, he would have to isolate a region and let the insects live there, making sure “the past” him could accurately complete those missions in “the future” Wasteland.
Thus, he would indeed have witnessed the Wasteland’s swarm and the fall of Future City, but that would be an illusion, a lie woven by “the future” him.
Similarly, for things he had already experienced, Lu Ban would only need to go to their origin and make certain arrangements to reverse the facts without altering the past.
If he had the opportunity, Lu Ban really wanted to try it, after all, he might be able to save Cui Siter and even more people.
Moreover, Lu Ban had not yet truly met the Saint of the Wasteland, and he suspected that the Saint might also be related to the original civilization of that Foreign Domain. As for what the answer was, he would have to truly experience such a Doomsday to understand.
Gathering these thoughts, Lu Ban looked towards the planet that was a bit farther away from him.
This planet was very familiar to Lu Ban, with its azure seas and a land of yellow and green.
Cold and indifferent words emerged from that planet.
[Revival]
[He has awoken]
[A civilization yet unborn, the savagery still sprawling, an unknown past, a history wedged within the annals of time, who will bear witness?]
[Abnormal natural disasters, gigantic figures, battles within sky and sea, a call from the ancients, there are gods in this world, and humans are but insects struggling for survival amidst these grand beings]
[You come to this world, behind you are countless clansmen yearning for life, ahead are endless oceans and realms of fire, can you lead them to the Promised Land of bliss?]
[“You must leave your homeland, your family, to go to the Promised Land flowing with milk and honey.”]
Clearly, Lu Ban realized this was likely referring to his own world.
In the past, before civilization emerged, this place might have been trodden by real Ancient Overlords, but with some developments, those Overlords were either sealed or left this Foreign Domain.
This mission seemed to be about scurrying beneath the Ancient Overlords’ feet while leading a group of people away from the Polluted land to a new home.
Perhaps upon completing this mission, Lu Ban would be worshipped and become the savior in some primitive religion, something akin to a Saint, which sounded rather appealing.
He shifted his gaze to the third, also the farthest planet.
This planet was mostly the same azure sea, and Lu Ban even felt this blue area was much more extensive than Earth’s.
Above the land, lush trees formed forests as dark green as pitch black.
[Cage]
[He has built a Prison Cage]
[In the Night Country, from ancient times to the present, people worship gods, offering sacrifices, giving up everything they have, but the gods have never responded. Only under the red moon do frenzied beasts plunder lives, Corroding the land]
[Some wish to do something, since the gods do not respond, then we shall save ourselves with our own hands. Those that slaughter life at will are not trials from the gods]
[You come to this wild place, in the pitch-black forest, besides the green glowing eyes of beasts, only the faintest sparks of starlight illuminate the surroundings]
[“The scariest thing at night is not the darkness but the loneliness, it’s so cold here.”]
“Night Country.”
Lu Ban quickly grasped that this mission must be about going to the ancient era of the Night Country, an epoch before the Gray Tower was established, when people struggled meekly against the oncoming Demonic Tide.
If the Chosen by Gods went there, he would probably be helping the first Mages to construct the Gray Tower and combat the Demonic Tide.
Lu Ban suddenly felt a clever connection of fate.
If he chose this task, he would be able to build the Gray Tower, and moreover, the spells passed down by the mages born of the Gray Tower in his “past” would provide him with enough assistance.
It was like a closed loop of fate; what he had to do next was to complete this final piece of the puzzle.
With this in mind, Lu Ban decided to choose this task.
“I never expected that the bricks of the Gray Tower weren’t something I had to search for, but rather whichever brick I chose would become the first brick of the Gray Tower.”
Once again, Lu Ban felt the incredibility of the Silent Lands.
He would hardly make any other choice.
Thinking thus, Lu Ban reached out and touched the most distant planet.
In an instant, the planet collapsed, exploded, and amid the massive cloud of smoke, a further explanation of the task appeared.
Skipping the repeated explanations, Lu Ban directly looked at the task objectives.
[Task Difficulty: Splendid]
[Task Objective: Resist the onslaught of the Demonic Tide]
[Task Objective: Establish the Gray Tower]
[Cooperative Task]
[Issue an invitation to Chosen by Gods you know, or accept the invitation of Chosen by Gods, the task begins when there is more than one fellow Chosen by Gods]
[If no invitation is accepted, a fellow traveler will be matched randomly]
[Number of Fellow Travelers: 0/1]
“Well, that’s a new difficulty level.”
Lu Ban hadn’t encountered this level of difficulty before and according to normal logic, ‘Splendid’ difficulty would certainly be harder than ‘Sublimation’ difficulty.
And facing the Ancient Overlord was already a part of the ‘Sublimation’ difficulty; could it be that ‘Splendid’ difficulty requires one to confront and prevail over the Ancient Overlord?
However, Lu Ban didn’t worry about it too much—after all, a choice had been made, could it still be returned?
Whether it was a dead horse or a live horse, as long as it could run, it was a good horse.
“A cooperative task, it seems I can invite Shia to join me, but I’m not sure how effective her magic would be in that era.”
Lu Ban felt he had encountered a paradox: Shia’s magic was obtained by praying to the deities of Night Country, and these spells seemed to work across Foreign Domains, but what about the time when there was no Gray Tower in Night Country, and spells and the Magic Network hadn’t yet existed? Would her magic still work across time?
If not, well and good, but if it did work, would it not lead to a chicken and egg cycle where Shia’s spells inspired the creation of magic in Night Country, and these spells were then passed down and taught to Shia?
Could that be another closed loop of fate?
He was curious.
Anyway, Lu Ban sent out the invitations, hoping to get everyone’s help.
Soon, Lu Ban received a response.
[Number of Fellow Travelers: 3/1]
“Hmm?”
Lu Ban was stunned; there were three travelers who accepted the invitation, including Shia and Stone, but who was the third…?
