Chapter 689: 688. Two character designs_1 Chapter 689: 688. Two character designs_1 “Is it fun?”
Lu Ban asked.
“Hmm!”
She nodded, and suddenly, the “Lu Ban” standing in the room turned into that twenty-year-old female college student, Char-grilled Salt and Pepper Seal.
“Hold on a second, I’ll be done with this game in no time, real quick.”
Qin Tiantian also called out from the room.
“Oh.”
Lu Ban responded.
A cat with a patchwork of colors crawled out from under the table, came to Lu Ban’s feet, and rubbed against his trouser leg, looking very wary of the girl.
“This person is dangerous!”
the cat said.
Baobao looked at the cat, half-crouched with curiosity, trying to play with it.
“To remain in your original form despite such pollution, it seems you have mastered the use of Pollution quite skillfully,” she said approvingly.
“Go to the room.”
Lu Ban picked up the cat by the nape of its neck—the cat’s destiny—and tossed it into Qin Tiantian’s bedroom.
“Hey, don’t cause trouble, go away, go away.”
Qin Tiantian immediately let out a wail, it seemed that every cat owner had experienced the frustration of a cat tapping the keyboard or mouse causing a mishap.
“What are you planning to do?”
Lu Ban turned his head to look at Baobao again.
“Just a joke, after all. Besides, your friend here seems a bit off, and I find it intriguing,” she replied, sitting on the couch and sinking into its cushions as if she were really enjoying herself.
“Speaking of which, hot pot lamb, I want some too,” she said, looking at Lu Ban with eyes full of anticipation.
This sort of anticipation is irresistible to ordinary people; they would be lost in those eyes, willingly offering everything they have, even their lives.
“You pay for it yourself.”
Lu Ban said without hesitation.
“Tsk.”
Baobao turned her gaze away and turned on the TV.
The main use of Qin Tiantian’s TV was as background noise when playing with her phone, but the TV fee was already paid, so it would be a waste not to watch it.
Upon turning on the TV, all that was on at that time were some economic and current affairs news programs.
“… according to our journalists at Silent Media, the electronic entertainment device “Morning Star,” released in January, has sold over eight million units to date. Its inaugural virtual reality game, Night of Summoning Spirits, has sparked a gaming craze among players. It is reported that on a certain gaming forum, a player has claimed to have reached the final conclusion…”
The TV anchor reported the news about Night of Summoning Spirits seriously.
“Someone completed the game?”
Lu Ban curiously looked at the forum post mentioned in the news.
The player who posted on the game forum had an ID called Dark Executioner. The post didn’t start off with the ending but went on about attending a gathering at a net friend’s villa, encountering a non-existent woman which inspired him, and eventually finding a clue. After being trapped in the villa by a blizzard for three days without eating or drinking, he finally completed the game.
Lu Ban was almost convinced by the story.
Subsequently, the player described his experience of completing the game, what to do and when, especially the information about the two Taoist Crane Cry, which caught Lu Ban’s interest.
After reading the entire post, Lu Ban saw that the author also mentioned the ID of the missing female net friend, Char-grilled Salt and Pepper Seal.
“?”
Lu Ban looked at the woman beside him who was watching TV intently.
“You’re also doing this?”
“Do you know about the Time Worm?”
Out of the blue, Baobao didn’t answer Lu Ban’s question but instead asked one of her own.
“I do.”
Lu Ban thought to himself that his [Mysterious Amusement Park] contained a Time Worm, so of course he knew about it.
“The Time Worm has a characteristic that any object that reflects the Time Worm for a long time will give birth to a new Time Worm. This characteristic is also possessed by many Ancient Overlords, including me,”
Baobao boasted with pride, puffing up her barely-there chest.
Lu Ban wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but she seemed livelier and more cheerful than when she wore the cheongsam.
Or could it be that Baobao and Charlotte are two separate characters?
“Your game carries my imprint. Through it, I can sense this Foreign Domain and thus, a new incarnation was born—me.”
Her smile bloomed beautifully.
“You mean, you are an incarnation of Charlotte? An incarnation of an incarnation?”
Lu Ban asked curiously.
“You could think of it that way. What do you think we use to cross over to Foreign Domains?”
Baobao asked again.
“Travel through?”
Lu Ban never seriously considered this question. He had no understanding of the structure between Foreign Domains, only remembering the colorful black and the various colors that did not belong to this world.
“Between Foreign Domains lies a region even more void than nothingness, deprived of all concepts of time and space. Normally, even Ancient Overlords need to think carefully before traveling. A incarnation like me only comes from one Foreign Domain to another when I have a clear destination.”
Baobao explained as she changed the channel. The TV was now showing a cartoon of marine creatures living together, which she watched with great interest.
“So, we use the Time Worm’s characteristic to leave our projections in Foreign Domains, incarnations. And that’s how I was born.”
She turned to look at Lu Ban.
“From your human theoretical understanding, I was born from the imprint in the game you made, so theoretically, she’s my mother, and you are my father, Daddy.”
“?”
At that moment, Qin Tiantian happened to be packing up after finishing her game and walked out of her room. She hadn’t heard the previous conversation, only the word “Daddy.”
A twenty-year-old female college student, calling a man only three or four years older than herself “Daddy.”
Qin Tiantian felt she had heard about this sort of play somewhere.
She looked at Lu Ban with suspicion.
“You’re pretty good at playing.”
“Let me introduce you, this is Baobao.”
Lu Ban pointed at the girl sitting on the sofa.
“Oh, I know, your friend,”
Qin Tiantian seemed to have assigned a role to Baobao, though it was unclear how she understood it.
“Speaking of which, did you change some setting on my computer? I feel like something’s not quite right.”
She added.
Lu Ban glanced at Baobao.
“I’ll take a look.”
He went to check Qin Tiantian’s room. In just the short time she had been away, the computer case had already started sprouting wriggling tentacles, attempting to stealthily eat the snacks on the table.
Lu Ban materialized a silver pen “Testament” in his right hand and wrote some words on the increasingly bloated case, making it sit still, before returning to the living room.
“We’ve become good friends already!”
Qin Tiantian boasted, though there was nothing to boast of on her chest.
“That’s good.”
Lu Ban looked at Baobao and nodded.
“Get ready and let’s head out. I’ll take you guys to a hotpot meal.”
