Chapter 635: 634. Let me give you a physical checkup_1 Chapter 635: 634. Let me give you a physical checkup_1 Seeing Byron’s appearance, Stone once again grasped the magnifying glass.

“You repeat everything that you and Gaude discussed, exactly as it happened.”

Upon hearing Stone’s words, Byron immediately spilled everything about how he had made a name for himself, how Gaude had found him, and how the two of them had planned out their scheme.

Gaude’s plan was just as Byron had described earlier, very simple: they would use Byron’s “The Conjuring” to produce writing on paper through trickery, convincing Mr. Bronning’s family to sell the manor so that Gaude could buy it at a low price.

What was concerning, however, was that all this planning had been organized in less than a day.

After all, Bronning himself had died not long ago, and today was only the third day; Gaude had almost immediately contacted Byron and arrived at Storm Villa upon learning of Bronning’s death, which was suspiciously quick, almost as if he had known in advance that Bronning would die at that time.

To be honest, in Stone’s view, Byron was full of doubts.

Why had he fallen asleep on the way, where had the driver who brought him gone, why did the servants all know nothing of this, how had Byron been locked in a barrel and placed in the locked cellar, why had no one heard his cries for help, each of these points was quite strange.

Rather than trust Byron, it would be more believable to expect the torrential rain at Storm Villa to stop and for the police to arrive.

However, under the power of “Soul of the Seeker,” Byron’s words were not false; he indeed had experienced these things.

Unless Byron had known in advance that a Chosen by Gods would come here, and also known that Stone possessed this Extraordinary Item, and thus deliberately created such memories in some way, otherwise, Byron was just a common swindler who got involved by accident.

As for the organs of Gaude inside him…

“Let me help him with a body inspection.”

Lu Ban and Stone thought of the same thing, and he said.

“Inspect the body?”

Byron looked at Lu Ban and instinctively took a half step back, guarding his body.

“Let me see how well you’ve developed.”

Lu Ban took a step forward.

“Big, big brother, please don’t…”

Byron caught a whiff of something not quite right and hurriedly dodged.

“Here’s the thing, you’ve been here for quite a long time, we need to check your physical condition, this is also part of the investigation, I hope you can cooperate.”

Stone offered an excuse for Lu Ban’s behavior.

Byron’s expression clearly showed disbelief.

But after thinking about Stone’s revolver, he obediently stood still and closed his eyes.

The next moment, Lu Ban began to melt starting from his right hand, transforming into a sticky mass of flesh and blood that entered Byron’s nostrils and mouth.

After exploring inside Byron’s body, Lu Ban reshaped back into human form.

Of course, he also left a part of himself inside Byron’s body to monitor his actions.

“There are no remains of organs inside him, and apart from gastric juice, there’s nothing in his stomach; he definitely didn’t eat Gaude’s organs.”

Lu Ban concluded.

“I told you so, how could I possibly kill someone, let alone eat them!”

Byron chimed in.

“You come with us for now.”

Stone had Byron follow them back upstairs, found a room to lock him in, and had the old butler bring him some water and food.

“Has anyone been to the wine cellar during this time?”

Stone asked the old butler.

“Yes, the person in charge of the kitchen had gone to fetch red wine, which you all should have tasted during dinner.”

The old butler didn’t comment much on the person caught in the cellar; he knew this wasn’t a topic he should inquire into.

“They didn’t find anything unusual, nor did they hear any cries for help. To our knowledge, no one else has entered the mansion, let alone drove here.”

The butler pointed out the window. According to the clock, it should now be afternoon, yet the storm continued to rage outside, the wind battering against the windows with a whining that sounded almost like weeping. He looked toward the road up the hill, still covered with a landslide.

“There’s only this one road for cars to get up the mountain. To arrive by car, one would have to take this road, so we can be sure no one else has come.”

The old butler said with conviction.

At the same time, he glanced at the hallway clock with a worried look.

“It seems the police won’t be able to make it for quite some time; the weather is just too bad. I’ve worked here for several years and have never seen a storm like this.”

He didn’t doubt Stone’s words, attributing the absence of the police to the awful weather.

“So, you’re quite sure no one could have sneaked into the wine cellar?”

Shia looked at the old butler, trying to discern something from his expression, but sadly, the butler seemed genuinely sincere, showing no sign of deception.

“I’m certain, ma’am.”

The old butler nodded.

Just then, they heard the sound of hurried footsteps.

Lu Ban saw that Lorne, with an anxious expression on his face, was coming toward them quickly, holding a revolver in his hand.

“I heard you found a stranger in the cellar? He must be the killer who murdered Gaude and the main culprit confining us here; I’ll kill him!”

Lorne was visibly agitated, and it was clear that his unease had been magnified due to the mansion, resulting in his arriving furiously to punish the person upon learning of Byron’s situation.

However, his agitation subsided considerably upon seeing Lu Ban and Shia.

After all, even with heightened emotions, Lorne understood that these two wouldn’t reason like Stone, ready to take action at the slightest disagreement, so he immediately backed down.

“This bloke who turned up out of nowhere must be a dangerous character; we need to interrogate him thoroughly and not let him leave this room.”

Lorne changed his tune.

“He’s locked up.”

Stone gestured to the firmly shut door.

“He may not necessarily be the killer of Mr. Gaude. Although he claims to be a disciple of Taoist Crane Cry, he’s actually just a charlatan. Besides, he’s been locked in a barrel the whole time. Judging by the timing and capability of the crime, he isn’t the murderer of Mr. Gaude.”

Hearing Stone’s explanation, Lorne’s expression changed.

“He’s a disciple of Taoist Crane Cry, is he Byron? But Master Byron is supposed to be capable of The Conjuring; he should be powerful, shouldn’t he? How could he be…?”

Lorne didn’t understand.

“He teamed up with Gaude to try to seize Mr. Bronning’s inheritance, to take over this mansion.”

Stone explained briefly.

Hearing this, Lorne jumped up.

“What, Gaude wanted to take this place? Impossible! That bastard! Good riddance! They killed each other, serves them right!!!”

He immediately cursed out loud, as if his former desire for revenge for Gaude made him feel foolish.

“Also, thanks to his information, we now know that there indeed is an inheritance from Taoist Crane Cry in this mansion, and Gaude might already have figured out how to obtain it.”

Stone continued.
