Chapter 605: 604. Seeking Wealth at the Risk of Danger_1 Chapter 605: 604. Seeking Wealth at the Risk of Danger_1 The bathroom was ordinary, indistinguishable from any other.
In the cognition of Kuwei, there naturally was no concept of a bathroom; Misty City people didn’t need to bathe or had much need to excrete. The act closest to bathing was probably to wander in areas where the mist was thinner, and every lifeform of mist they swallowed became part of their bodies—excretion was simply wasteful.
But in the exploration of the Foreign Domain, Kuwei did witness some civilizations’ pretense; in most human civilizations, cleaning the body was an important part, their frail bodies couldn’t even bear the cover of dust.
If it were just for the sake of survival needs that they cleaned themselves, the Misty City people would simply laugh at the frailty of humans. But some humans actually took joy in cleansing their bodies, even when already exceedingly clean, they still washed themselves and expended a great deal of time on such behavior.
Illogical.
And the existence of the bathroom was an extension of this behavior.
Kuwei had already expressed his opinion on it; he was curious about what in this bathroom drew him here.
According to Kuwei’s existing knowledge, he believed that this kind of mutual attraction must be due to some pollution or the presence of knowledge.
The perception of the Misty City people was sharp, more easily noticing danger or hostility, yet now, he didn’t detect hostility. It seemed like a place where a Transcendent might have lingered, with a slight scent of pollution.
Kuwei’s mist-like body swept past the drainpipe and showerhead, arriving in front of the mirror.
He hadn’t paid attention to this small reflective trinket, but as he passed it, he suddenly felt something was slightly amiss.
Something seemed to appear in the mirror.
Kuwei stopped.
He discovered his shadow in the mirror, a cloud of smoke, drifting just as he did, exactly like Kuwei.
But just then, Kuwei suddenly noticed that the rhythm of the drifting smoke seemed to change.
He knew what mirrors were; they could accurately reflect the appearance of objects, so theoretically, the thing in the mirror should act in unison with him.
But the smoke in the mirror seemed subtly different from him; it was him, yet not him.
It was like when Kuwei turned slowly, the reflection in the mirror was always a beat too slow.
As if something was mimicking his movements.
But Kuwei didn’t feel any danger. He stared at the mirror for a while before preparing to drift on.
At that moment, Kuwei noticed some commotion behind him.
Turning his attention, he discovered a small tuft of hair at the drain he had just climbed through.
The hair was long, like someone had not thoroughly washed it down after a bath, laying wet and stuffed in the drain.
Kuwei’s mind filled with questions; he leaned closer to the spot to observe more carefully.
But the next moment, the tuft of hair retracted back into the drain!
Only then did Kuwei truly sense that something was amiss. Although there was no hostility, there seemed to be something beyond understanding present here.
In such a situation, Kuwei thought it would be dangerous to continue exploring.
However, in his current state, he needed to find a significant source of pollution to absorb to regain his original strength. Only by laying low in the Foreign Domain could he eventually complete his mission and return home or find a way back to Misty City.
The tempting pollution was like flowers attracting bees and butterflies, exceedingly alluring to Kuwei; he could not forgo the power now within easy reach.
After a moment of hesitation, Kuwei chose to continue forward.
Continuing the exploration might pay off, but running away would definitely be a loss.
Moreover, humans in this world can even endure the Pollution from the Sealed Ancient Overlord—who knows if the books they read and the visual materials they come into contact with on a daily basis contain even more provocative content? If they, like some natives of the Foreign Domain, hold wild celebrations in the streets, parades, and sacrificial rituals every night, then Kuwei would be overwhelmed.
If he continues to maintain such a weak posture, perhaps any random dog on the street might take Kuwei’s life later on.
He decided to take risks for the sake of potential riches.
Despite having some concerns about the mirror and the hair in the sewer, since they hadn’t harmed him, there was no need to worry.
Kuwei stepped through the doorway and entered the living room.
There was also a huge mirror in the living room that reflected his smoky silhouette.
Of course, the flow of the smoke and the flow of Kuwei had a certain discrepancy, which looked eerie and strange.
Outside, the sun was splendid, and Kuwei glanced at it, all the joy belonged to them, and he had nothing.
The living room furnishings—a sofa, television, and coffee table—were all simple, and Kuwei hadn’t found the source of that breath.
He then saw the kitchen, the place where humans processed food. Kuwei also thought the eating behavior of humans was quite wasteful.
The Misty City people only need to envelop their prey and absorb it continuously, leaving not even a trace of residue.
Yet humans required complicated processing methods and had an absorption efficiency far lower than that of the Misty City people, leading to a waste of energy.
Some humans would take pleasure in this, specifically researching how to prepare food in even more wasteful ways, causing the nutrition and energy to ebb away, just to make these items taste “better”.
To Kuwei, this was incomprehensible!
He looked around the kitchen but found nothing of value. The energy efficiency of the food in the refrigerator was too low, except for one mushy, sweet, and cold thing that was somewhat acceptable. Kuwei sneakily ate one, trying to digest and absorb it with his swirling, foggy body.
At that moment, he discovered that there was another room in the house.
There was no one inside, but there was a mysterious feeling about it.
Kuwei looked around and floated to the doorway of that room.
The room was quite bright, with a bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, computer, and so forth.
Kuwei first noticed the wardrobe.
The doors of the wardrobe were slowly pushed open as if something hidden inside wanted to come out. Kuwei initially thought there might be someone hiding within, but as his mist extended, he didn’t detect any trace of a human.
Kuwei looked inside the wardrobe, and he saw an eye suddenly open amidst the clothes, staring at him.
He recoiled suddenly but quickly realized it was an illusion.
Shifting his attention, Kuwei then noticed something under the bed.
He descended slowly, wanting to see what lay beneath the clean bed.
Kuwei kept sinking, sinking, his mist spreading under the bed, when suddenly, he felt a palpitation.
He found a dirty Clown doll under the bed, its ludicrous smile seemingly mocking him.
Kuwei let go of his concern.
The next moment, he saw a pair of eyes light up beneath the bed.
A pair of Hunter’s eyes.
