Chapter 529: 528. We have received professional training_1 Chapter 529: 528. We have received professional training_1 In the heat of the summer, He Jiaoyang felt a chill seep into his limbs, his entire body broke out in a cold sweat. After returning to his hotel, he immediately opened his suitcase, took out a talisman, and affixed it to the door. He then pulled out a pure silver cross, muttered to himself for a while, and chewed on two cloves of garlic.

After that, he rushed into the bathroom and turned on the shower.

Having changed into a fresh set of clothes, He Jiaoyang couldn’t help but recall what he had just seen.

“Many people in the film industry, as well as the wealthy, like to dabble in crooked and unorthodox practices. It seems Lu Ban is no exception, he must be using these things to bewitch people, making movies to earn money. I must expose this behavior!”

With this thought, He Jiaoyang quickly gathered his belongings and, following the map index, made his way to the police station closest to where Lu Ban lived.

Lu Ban wasn’t filming now, and he wasn’t at the company, so he must be at home!

He Jiaoyang arrived at the entrance of the police station and saw the on-duty officer inside.

“I want to file a report!”

he said.

“File a report? Slow down, speak clearly.”

The young officer instantly became alert, asked He Jiaoyang to sit down, and called a colleague to pour him a glass of water.

“What’s the issue that we can help you with?”

Hearing this, He Jiaoyang leaned forward over the table and lowered his voice.

“The thing I’m about to tell you, please don’t be scared.”

“We are police officers, we won’t be afraid,”

the officer sitting in front of him said, patting his chest.

“Come on, take your time.”

Another officer passed He Jiaoyang a paper cup filled with water.

“I just… saw a ghost,”

He Jiaoyang said very seriously.

Upon hearing his words, both officers straightened up in their seats, their facial expressions shifting, and they leaned in to ask.

“Which ghost are you talking about?”

“Not ‘which one’, it’s the kind of ghost that appears after someone dies!”

He Jiaoyang raised his voice slightly.

“You know Lu Ban, right? The director. He might be raising ghosts, even using them to make movies. His house must be full of ghosts!”

Hearing He Jiaoyang’s words, the two officers glanced at each other.

Then one of them covered his mouth, unable to suppress his laughter.

“…What are you laughing at?”

He Jiaoyang asked somewhat displeased, aware that what he was saying sounded like the ravings of a lunatic from a mental institution, yet these two officers shouldn’t be laughing.

“I was just thinking of something happy,”

replied the officer.

“I’ll say it again, I’m not joking!”

He Jiaoyang knocked on the table.

“Okay, back to the matter at hand, you mentioned a ghost just now, was she beautiful?”

asked one officer.

“It’s not a matter of whether she’s beautiful or not, she really is a rare kind… black hair, pale skin, dressed in simple clothes, quite cute… would you please stop laughing.”

He Jiaoyang called out to the two officers who failed to stifle their laughter.

“I was thinking of something happy.”

“Stop thinking about happy things already, you’ve been laughing nonstop, without taking a break!”

He Jiaoyang couldn’t help but shout, frustrated that he was discussing a serious matter, and these people just wouldn’t believe him.

Even if it’s about ghosts, I should at least be allowed to finish, shouldn’t I?

“Rest assured, we’ve undergone strict training. No matter how funny the story, we won’t laugh, unless we can’t help it.”

“How about this, leave your contact information here with us, and we’ll handle it back at the station. As soon as we have any progress, we’ll notify you immediately.”

The two police officers said, one after the other.

“Fine, you’d better respond immediately. Go during the day, and make sure not to go at night!”

He Jiaoyang stood up, leaving the police station. Just as he stepped out, he heard a burst of laughter. He turned his head, looking back inside.

The two officers were sitting upright, seemingly organizing their paperwork.

No sooner had he turned around than he found the nearest internet cafe and logged onto QQ.

[Silver Winged Harbinger of Doom]: I’m back alive from Lu Ban’s company. There’s really a ghost there, and it’s a female ghost! Damn, I nearly died there. Thankfully my professional skills are solid, and I managed to escape. I suspect Lu Ban’s house has even more ghosts. This man makes his money by raising ghosts, his heart is so black.

[Apocalypse Dragon King]: Damn, is it that explosive?

[Sage Immortal]: Pics or it didn’t happen, bro. Without pictures, I could post a hundred similar stories in minutes—and none of them would be repeats. Where’s the female ghost?

[Observer of the World Lines]: Hang on, if Lu Ban can really control ghosts, wouldn’t he use them to harm people? Instead, he’s making movies for everyone to watch, which is like promoting the ghosts’ re-employment after being laid off. That’s a good thing!

[Heart of Darkness]: You’re such a sly fox!

[Silver Winged Harbinger of Doom]: Fuck, you guys are just like those cops, you don’t believe a word!

He Jiaoyang realized that these people, while seeming to be students of the mystic arts, were in fact merely admirers from a distance. When faced with a genuine mystic event, they didn’t believe it at all!

After eating some takeout and drinking a can of cold Coke to calm down, He Jiaoyang felt he had indeed been inappropriate. Without photos or videos, it was unreasonable to expect others to believe in supernaturals with just his word. The other party wasn’t some coal tycoon covered in gold chains and gold watches; of course, a normal person wouldn’t believe it!

He absolutely had to capture some evidence.

At this moment, He Jiaoyang saw himself as an Exorcist, a messenger of justice, acting to expose Lu Ban.

After some thought, he immediately devised a plan to go near Lu Ban’s house at night to gather material, and if possible, to get closer to Lu Ban to take pictures.

Dusk.

He Jiaoyang held a peach wood sword, stuffed talismans in his pockets, wore a cross around his neck and even ate a couple of extra cloves of garlic before heading to Lu Ban’s residential area.

Normally, stars and big directors live in high-end residential areas, the kind named ‘Supreme Mansion’ or something, where house prices are worth several hundred million, offering expansive river view apartments, or in luxurious villa districts. It was rare to see someone like Lu Ban living in a common residential area, sometimes even captured by the public going downstairs to shop for groceries or eat late-night snacks.

He Jiaoyang found it odd. Considering Lu Ban’s status, wouldn’t the properties near his residence be monopolized by the paparazzi within minutes? How could he still live such a peaceful life here?

As he walked through the neighborhood, watching residents walking dogs and children, he began to worry about their safety.

Ghosts are inherently yin, and they might even draw away yang energy. With Lu Ban using ghosts on such a large scale for filming, he was sure to harm other people!

He Jiaoyang’s sense of justice grew even stronger.

Touching the talismans, he reached the foot of Lu Ban’s building, eyeing the electronic lock and decided to pretend to admire the scenery around, waiting for someone to enter the building so he could slip in after them.

By a stroke of luck, He Jiaoyang quickly spotted a man in a T-shirt and shorts wearing slippers, walking toward this building with hands full of food containers and cups of snacks like barbeque and milk tea.

Turning his face away, He Jiaoyang kept an eye on the man with his peripheral vision and noticed that the stranger used a card to open the gate to Lu Ban’s building. He followed swiftly and entered the elevator behind him.

Once inside the elevator, He Jiaoyang didn’t dare to face the man directly and instead turned away, looking at the elevator buttons.

Through the stainless steel mirrored surface, He Jiaoyang took a glance at the man.

He jumped in shock.

Because that man carrying the fragrant barbeque happened to be Lu Ban himself!

At the same time, He Jiaoyang noticed that around Lu Ban, on his shoulders, at his feet, above his head, there swirled a thick and dark mist, much denser than that of the receptionist he saw during the day!

As the elevator began moving toward the floor where Lu Ban lived, He Jiaoyang felt his body tense up.

“Which floor are you going to?”

Lu Ban asked from behind.
