Chapter 473: 472. A place that brings everyone relaxation and happiness_1 Chapter 473: 472. A place that brings everyone relaxation and happiness_1 Pale was a Jeramaidian.
He had a wish, which was to become a Chosen by Gods, to be selected by the Chaos Gate and venture to other Foreign Domains for battle.
Indeed, in Misty City, the Chosen by Gods were not a secret, but common knowledge.
The Misty City people called these Chosen by Gods great warriors. The Chaos Gate afforded the Misty City people the opportunity to leave their barren land for other Foreign Domains, and since then, the Misty City people’s understanding of the world had expanded.
For the first time, they knew there were worlds with mild climates, a variety of creatures in different shapes, and inexhaustible sources of energy.
Unfortunately, the selection of the Chosen by Gods was entirely up to that supremely great being, and no one could be chosen by any trickery—it was all up to luck.
And once one became a Chosen by Gods, it meant the highest authority beneath the kings, more gray mist, more resources.
Being a Chosen by Gods was also quite dangerous. For instance, not long ago, there were two Chosen by Gods thought to have perished in a Foreign Domain, Flash and Lei Ting, which was a significant loss for the Misty City people.
Pale considered his strength to be quite decent, and becoming a Chosen by Gods was just a matter of time. He even sometimes wished despicably, with ill intent, for more Chosen by Gods to die, so he could replace them.
Having left the Primordial Cloud Sea, Pale intended to find some friends but suddenly felt that the gray mist ahead was somewhat unusual.
“When did a building appear here?”
He sensed a grand cluster of mist buildings in front. Their shape was peculiar, completely different from anything he had seen before.
A surge of curiosity arose in Pale’s heart, and he wanted to take a look inside the building cluster.
His fellow tribespeople were nowhere to be seen, but Pale was not puzzled. Instead, he drifted toward the less dense part of the building cluster, as it was customary for Jeramaidians that such places generally served as entrances.
Once there, Pale saw a strange building, short like a pavilion, with an open window through which a Misty City person with a yellowing color could be seen.
Even though the Misty City people were all made up of gray mist, some, for differentiation or personalization, would dye themselves with color. Pale thought that was simply crazy.
Pale approached the side of the building, about to walk inside when he heard a voice.
“Guest, you need to buy a ticket to enter.”
Pale turned and saw the yellow-tinged Misty City person blocking his way.
“What place is this?”
Pale inquired.
“It’s an amusement park, a place that brings joy and relaxation to everyone.”
The other responded promptly.
Pale understood somewhat. In the Primordial Cloud Sea, there were similar facilities using special mist, enabling people to indulge in it and derive great pleasure. This place seemed to be a large store.
“How much?”
Misty City naturally had commerce, but their currency was gray mist, which was their power. Using gray mist for transactions was also a manifestation of the survival of the fittest Rules.
“One hundred gray mist.”
The other replied.
“That’s expensive.”
Pale immediately got cold feet. One hundred gray mist, even in the Primordial Cloud Sea, could sustain two full meals of mist. To explore this peculiar “amusement park” seemed a bit of a loss.
But having come all this way, Pale paid the money and prepared to enter.
“Please wait a moment, guest. Here’s a tour guide.”
A clump of condensed gray mist was handed to Pale.
As he walked into the amusement park, absorbing knowledge from the mist, first he saw a map.
Ferris wheel, roller coaster, carousel—these were terms Pale had never heard of, but fortunately, there were some structural diagrams of mist that allowed him to understand roughly how these machines worked.
Next, Pale saw a few rules at the bottom.
[Rules ①: You must play all the attractions before you can leave the amusement park.]
“?”
Pale didn’t quite understand why the amusement park would have such a rule. What would happen if one left without experiencing all the rides?
His curiosity piqued, he glanced back.
The yellowing Misty City person was showing a benevolent form towards him, which in Misty City, was the equivalent of a smile.
However, leaving immediately after entering would be rather foolish, and Pale immediately grasped the intention behind this rule.
“Could it be a scheme to fool those idiots so that after they’ve paid, they’ll try to leave and get scammed out of more money?”
“As smart as I am, I’d certainly not do something like that,”
Pale took a few more steps and continued reading the rules.
[Rule ②: The toy fog bears in the amusement park will not drift around on their own. If you see a toy fog bear drifting by itself, please immediately contact the nearest yellowing staff member]
“What the heck?”
Now Pale was genuinely puzzled.
A fog bear is a creature from Misty City, fierce and formidable. But a toy fog bear is something else, usually used to comfort children. Toys were a luxury in Misty City, and Pale had never had his own toys as a child. He could only use those left over by his older brother.
A toy fog bear not drifting on its own?
Pale felt this was self-evident, wasn’t it?
Thinking these rules were somewhat nonsensical, Pale lifted his head.
Then, he saw a toy fog bear with a goofy appearance drifting through the amusement park.
Laughter and cheerful voices came from a nearby facility, and Pale saw several young Misty City people seated on something called a carousel.
Turning his head, he saw a group of young Misty City people surrounding the toy fog bear, which was distributing clumps of gray fog to them. These clumps of fog, once absorbed, could bring varying degrees of pleasure, much like toys.
Pale felt he didn’t need those things.
He decided to try a ride.
“This roller coaster looks good, let’s give it a try.”
He took a ride on the roller coaster. Misty City’s roller coasters were genuine thrill rides, with tracks spanning tens of kilometers, giving Pale the thrill similar to hunting monsters in the Primordial Cloud Sea. After one round, he was still not satisfied.
After another glance at the handbook, Pale saw the fourth rule.
[Rule ④: The grand parade’s program does not include a toy fog bear performance. If there is one, please do not raise any questions and contact the nearest yellowing staff member after the performance is over]
“Hm? What is the third rule?”
Pale flipped through the handbook but couldn’t find a third rule.
Could it have been left out?
He felt something was amiss, but the sound of music accompanied by the vibration of the fog came through.
Pale saw that many Misty City people were participating in a grand parade. These Misty City people were dressed as various anthropomorphized Misty City animals, and particularly, a pink Misty City fox caught Pale’s eye, making him wonder if his XP had gone awry somewhere.
At that moment, he spotted a toy fog bear standing within the procession.
In an instant, Pale remembered the contents of the second rule.
“How can a toy fog bear start drifting on its own…”
As he was speaking, before he could finish, Pale found himself back at the entrance of the amusement park.
“You can take this brochure, and I wish you a joyful journey through the amusement park,”
The yellowing Misty City person handed Pale a clump of gray fog.
