Chapter 462: 461. You must play all the items_1 Chapter 462: 461. You must play all the items_1 This pale humanoid creature had numerous eyes on its head that seemed to contain gears and clock scales, and its mouthparts, slender like a butterfly’s, greedily sought to suck the brains of the three people. Lu Ban could even see a kind of gray-white smoke rising from Shia and Feng Yu, being drawn into it.
But everything froze at this moment.
Of course, Lu Ban did not have an invincible time-stopping ability; he was just an ordinary person.
“If we keep watching it, it won’t attack us, right?”
Lu Ban asked, staring straight at this “toy bear,” without moving his eyes, not even blinking.
“This is the Time Worm’s self-protection mechanism. Because it isn’t the strongest creature in the Foreign Domain, its combat power is actually considered weak. So, to protect itself, it has mutated this kind of camouflage.”
Feng Yu also looked towards the Time Worm. Although it appeared as a toy bear to her, after Lu Ban’s reminder, she quickly accepted the concept that the “toy bear” she was seeing was entirely the Time Worm.
“Can we just use a spell or some other way to crush them?”
Shia raised her hand, ready to cast a magic spell.
“You can try, but my answer is no way.”
Feng Yu responded.
The next moment, Shia had thrown an Explosion Spell from her hands.
The formless and shapeless magic hit the toy bear but passed right through it and flew towards the sky, eventually releasing a booming sound, causing many tourists to look back.
The toy bear cocked its head, looking very puzzled.
“Don’t blink. If we blink at the same time, it will immediately steal our time and send us back to the past.”
Feng Yu warned.
Meanwhile, her body underwent a transformation.
Her left hand raised, and an eye appeared in her palm, surrounded by countless tentacles extending infinitely to the side, making those who saw it feel their scalp tingle and unable to restrain the fear welling up inside them.
Lu Ban noticed something—the eye had no eyelids.
Meaning, it couldn’t blink.
Feng Yu used the eye in her palm to fix her gaze on the toy bear, while suggesting that Shia and Lu Ban move a bit further away.
“While being observed, the Time Worm can neither receive nor inflict harm. Right now, it exists in a rift in time, perpetually living in the moment before you attack, so your strikes never reach it. Similarly, it also avoids the moment when you could have dealt it harm. The time they steal is used for this purpose.”
She explained briefly while maintaining her palm-eye’s stare at the toy bear, then turned to scan their surroundings.
“We now face two problems. First, whether there are more Time Worms in the theme park. If there are, we need to be wary of their attacks. Secondly… why this Time Worm hasn’t left and remains here.”
“What do you mean?”
Shia, while searching for other toy bears, was puzzled by Feng Yu’s second question.
“The Time Worm has two characteristics; I’ve just explained the first one. It has another feature.”
Feng Yu did not spot a second toy bear. She made eye contact with Lu Ban to ensure no other Time Worms were present, then continued.
“The second characteristic of the Time Worm is that any entity that reflects the image of a Time Worm for an extended period will give birth to a new Time Worm.”
“…Does that mean if we keep our eyes on the Time Worm for a long time, a new Time Worm will appear on our eyes?”
Lu Ban hastily glanced at his eyes with water at the side.
“Yes, and the same effect applies to videos and pictures, so it’s best not to take photos of the Time Worms.”
Feng Yu nodded and at the same time, her right hand rose, revealing the same eye in her palm. That eye observed the Time Worm, while the eye in her left hand retracted.
“This is a form of Pollution, as well as a way for Time Worms to increase their numbers. That’s why most creatures in the Foreign Domain do not choose to oppose the Time Worms or try to eliminate them completely. First, because these creatures only steal a bit of time, which is harmless to most beings—as long as it’s not a swarm, it’s just a matter of being a few years younger, which common humans won’t even notice. Second, due to this characteristic of the Time Worms, they are hard to kill.”
“So the problem now is that there’s no need for the Time Worms to stay in this amusement park. They could just absorb some of the visitors’ time and leave. The fact that they remain here must mean there’s another reason.”
From Feng Yu’s shoulder, flesh sprouted from her neck, extending and blooming at the end like a fruiting flower, with tendrils cradling an eyeball that fixated on the toy bear.
“Indeed, if it were only the Time Worms, they would just be monsters from the Foreign Domain, not a mystery of this world. We wouldn’t need to learn all the rules of the amusement park…”
As Lu Ban muttered to himself, he suddenly had a premonition.
“Is it possible that the amusement park is the real mystery, and the Time Worms are trapped here by it?”
“It’s possible.”
Feng Yu nodded.
“Mysteries manifest as Rules, and the Time Worms cannot steal the time of a mystery. They are trapped in the amusement park, unable to leave, only able to constantly steal time from the visitors.”
“We can try something now, attempt to leave the amusement park while keeping an eye on the toy bear, ruling out the possibility of the Time Worms stealing our time.”
Lu Ban proposed an experiment to control the variables.
He asked Shia to stay put while he walked towards the exit of the amusement park.
As he approached the exit, Lu Ban saw a staff member in a red uniform walking towards him.
“Hello there, are you planning to leave the amusement park?”
The person asked, a man of such common features that one would forget him the moment they turned away.
“Yes, I am.”
Lu Ban answered, while observing the surroundings of the man.
“I noticed you haven’t experienced all of our attractions. Would you like to do so before you leave?”
The staff member in red asked politely.
“All the attractions?”
Lu Ban thought about it; indeed, they hadn’t gone through all of the attractions.
“I have no plans to go on the other attractions, I’m heading straight home.”
He stated plainly.
“If you haven’t experienced all the attractions, it would be quite troubling for us.”
The staff member in red said with a smile.
“I’m sorry, but I have no such intention.”
Lu Ban said, and then he walked past the staff member in the red uniform heading towards the amusement park gate.
The next moment, Lu Ban felt an intense sense of danger. He barely managed to materialize a silver pen and inscribed [Immortality] on himself before his brain trembled violently, his body disintegrated into scattered flesh and blood, and fell to the ground.
The staff member in red looked at “Lu Ban,” fetched a trolley from nowhere, gathered the flesh and blood onto it, and then, humming the theme song of the amusement park, headed towards the restaurant.
