Chapter 460: 459. The first snow of the New Year_1 Chapter 460: 459. The first snow of the New Year_1 “How did we get into this amusement park?”
As the Ferris wheel gradually ascended, Lu Ban asked Shia.
“We used… your money to buy tickets?”
Shia recalled while speaking.
“Then we came straight to this, uh, Ferris wheel.”
She was still not accustomed to the language of this world, but she seemed to have learned some basic usage.
Lu Ban didn’t know if mages had any special talent for languages, but Shia was indeed learning things at an impressive pace.
“We were indeed the first ones to choose to ride the Ferris wheel, weren’t we?”
Lu Ban wanted to confirm again.
“Yes, as soon as we entered the amusement park, we came right here, because it offers a wide view.”
Shia nodded.
“That’s strange, when did it snow here?”
Lu Ban glanced at the Lingjiang Riverside; the grass and green trees were covered with snow, clearly, there had been a considerable snowfall last night, and it hadn’t completely melted by morning.
It definitely hadn’t snowed yesterday; the sky was overcast, and the weather forecast showed that it would snow tonight.
But now, the scenery that Lu Ban saw seemed as if it had already snowed last night.
Could there be some unnoticed issue in between?
“You’re saying, it is no longer the time when we first came in?”
Shia quickly understood what Lu Ban meant.
If everything was normal and there were no anomalies, then Lu Ban and the others had just entered the amusement park and chosen to ride the Ferris wheel.
But now, snow that was supposed to fall tonight had come a day early, which meant that something was definitely wrong here.
“What if, it’s not that the snow has come early, but ‘today’ is actually the second day?”
Lu Ban proposed a hypothesis.
“Do you think our perception of time has been confused, or our memories have become disorganized?”
Shia followed Lu Ban’s train of thought and spoke, looking at the adjacent carriage, where a toy bear was seated, waving at them.
“Strange, wasn’t this toy bear just on the ground handing out balloons a moment ago?”
She mentioned, making Lu Ban turn his head to look.
Lu Ban saw that the toy bear was sitting in the carriage, its eyes fixed on them, an unchanging expression that elicited a kind of eerie fear.
The music of the Ferris wheel surrounded them, amid peals of laughter, yet Lu Ban felt as though the sounds around him were drifting away.
He looked down and saw Feng Yu walking Laika, asking something of a passing blonde girl.
Not far away, balloons flew up; the toy bear that had been holding them had already disappeared from among the children.
Shia also looked around subconsciously.
“Is there only one toy bear in this amusement park?”
As she inquired, she lifted her gaze.
She discovered that the toy bear was sitting right next to Lu Ban, its constant smile bearing a somewhat fierce meaning.
“When did this toy bear… come over?”
Shia couldn’t help but ask.
“Shia, I have a question,”
Lu Ban said, sitting up straight and looking at the toy bear beside him while addressing Shia.
“What is a toy bear?”
“… A toy bear… is a toy bear,”
Shia couldn’t help but respond.
“When did I ever explain to you what the concept of a toy bear represents?”
Lu Ban asked again.
Immediately, she too understood Lu Ban’s point.
To Shia from the Foreign Domain, the concept of a toy bear was unfamiliar, nonexistent.
Therefore, Shia originally couldn’t have directly said the word “toy bear” unless Lu Ban had once pointed at one and told her that it was a toy bear.
It was like someone who had never come into contact with a suona picking it up and blowing out a piercing melody just like that.
This signified that the concept of a toy bear had been implanted into Shia’s mind in some way.
In the terms of the Foreign Domain, this was known as Pollution.
And the source of the Pollution…
In the blink of an eye, Shia felt a warm coziness; the sun, after the snow had ended, shone upon her, bringing a feeling of warmth. It was nearing noon, and the winter sun had become quite intense, making one want to shed their coat.
“Which attraction shall we go to first?”
Lu Ban asked, holding the amusement park brochure they had just received.
“The Ferris wheel can only seat two people at a time, so how about the roller coaster? What do you think?”
Feng Yu pointed to the minecart-like roller coaster and suggested.
“Hmm…”
Shia always felt that something was off; she felt as if she needed to do something or had forgotten something important.
After riding the roller coaster, Shia glanced at Lu Ban.
He seemed to have sensed that something wasn’t quite right as well.
Lu Ban sat down to rest, watching a toy bear not far away, distributing balloons to children.
“Shia, what do you think that is?”
He pointed toward the toy bear.
“It’s a toy bear. What about it?”
Shia glanced at it, puzzled.
“Nothing.”
Lu Ban looked at Laika, the Corgi sitting still beside him, panting with its tongue out, as if it felt very hot.
“Laika, I have a favor to ask of you.”
Lu Ban said to Laika, looking at the nearly Melting snow atop the carousel roof.
“Go back to January 5th at 11:52 am, next to me, and bark three times.”
Upon hearing Lu Ban’s command, Laika barked once and then disappeared from sight.
“What’s going on?”
Feng Yu sensed something amiss; as she was checking on something, she asked.
January 5th was today, and in less than a minute, it would be 11:52 am. She did not understand Lu Ban’s intent.
Lu Ban, meanwhile, glanced at the time.
The next moment, Laika reappeared at Lu Ban’s feet and barked three times.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
“?”
Shia witnessed this scene, feeling somewhat perplexed.
“What are you doing?”
“Have you discovered the Rules of this amusement park?”
Feng Yu, seemingly having realized something, asked.
“I still need to verify, and besides, I can’t just tell you directly, or else it might lead to accidents.”
Lu Ban nodded; he glanced at the toy bear a short distance away, which after having distributed the balloons, seemed to have arrived at the bench next door. The endearing toy bear was watching the roller coaster riders as if it was full of longing.
“Laika, go now to January 6th, noon at 11:54 am, next to the bench beside the roller coaster, and bark three times at the person sitting on the bench.”
Lu Ban again petted its head.
The obedient Doggo wagged its tail and once again disappeared into the space.
“???”
Shia was completely baffled.
What was the purpose of sending Laika to the future?
Could it be that their concept of time was disturbed due to the amusement park causing cognitive disorders?
But what could Lu Ban’s actions uncover?
While Shia was pondering, she saw Laika reappear beside the bench.
It looked around and then barked three times toward Lu Ban.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
