I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 459 - 459 458. Ferris Wheel_1

Chapter 459: 458. Ferris Wheel_1 Chapter 459: 458. Ferris Wheel_1 The slanting sun descended, casting a layer of golden hue over all the equipment.

“It’s already this late, I’m a bit hungry.”

Lu Ban remarked, finding it a bit strange that they had chosen to enter the park in the evening. According to his thoughts, they should have come during the bright daytime to scope things out.

“How about we go grab something to eat first?”

He pointed at a restaurant on one side.

The restaurant was crowded with people, and there was a souvenir shop next to it.

While Feng Yu took Shia to order food, Lu Ban browsed the souvenir shop.

Souvenir shops in amusement parks mostly sell merchandise related to their own IP.

Lu Ban saw some stuffed animals but didn’t spot any toy bears.

He picked up a fuzzy brown stuffed animal with two round ears that looked quite cute.

“How much is this… oh, you don’t support scanning codes here, do you?”

Lu Ban then remembered the park’s method of payment.

“One hundred yuan.”

The red-uniformed staff member answered and pointed at a QR code nearby.

“You can scan the code.”

Lu Ban took out his phone, scanned the code, and bought two stuffed animals, putting them into a paper bag.

“Two should be enough…”

As he thought this, he glanced at his phone’s record, which indicated the morning…

“I’m starving to death, let’s go eat something first, please, I’ll do anything!”

Shia said, pointing at the restaurant ahead.

“I’m hungry too.”

Lu Ban nodded, and he glanced at Feng Yu.

“No worries, even if you’re too shy to say you’re hungry, it doesn’t matter. We’ve already decided to go have dinner first; it’s already dark.”

In the night, the bright moonlight shone down, coating the Ferris wheels and carousels with a layer of silvery light.

The three entered the restaurant, and Lu Ban glanced at the neighboring souvenir shop, planning to visit it after dinner to buy some mementos.

The restaurant’s menu was clearly priced, and although there were no giant shrimp for eighty-eight yuan, it wasn’t cheap. Items like burgers and fried chicken drumsticks were quite expensive, and Lu Ban felt it was akin to daylight robbery.

But there was no helping it; hungry as he was, he had to buy.

Lu Ban sneakily wrote several notes on sticky paper and bought a lot of food.

Fortunately, the restaurant offered generous portions of food

Fried chicken drumsticks as big as an arm, hamburgers the size of a human head, palm-sized cookies, and quite tasty tomato juice.

Lu Ban ate happily.

Shia gobbled down her food.

Feng Yu didn’t eat, seeming to dislike this kind of high-calorie food.

“Not as good as home-cooked.”

As a paragon of thrift and household management, Feng Yu disdained such junk food.

Laika gnawed on a large chicken drumstick, quite satisfied.

Surrounded by many other customers, Lu Ban saw a blonde European girl laughing and chatting with her classmates while eating thick-cut fries from her plate.

The kitchen seemed very busy, and loud voices could be constantly heard. The restaurant’s TV was playing promotional videos for the amusement park’s various attractions, and Lu Ban saw ads for haunted houses, carousels, and roller coasters, and found them all very interesting. He planned to try them out after dinner.

“They still operate normally in the evening here, I wonder if there are any performances?”

Lu Ban thought of some amusement parks that had fireworks shows around seven or eight in the evening.

After finishing their leftovers, they planned to take a break before experiencing other attractions when they heard cheers coming from outside.

Lu Ban stepped outside the restaurant and saw that the roads on both sides were already filled with tourists.

Music streamed from the speakers under the streetlights on either side of the road, and one could see people dressed in costume characters, carrying musical instruments, emerging from one side.

This appeared to be the grand parade.

“Why are these people so excited?”

Shia didn’t quite understand.

“Because these parades usually feature the classic images of the amusement park and have a lively atmosphere, everyone likes them a lot,”

Lu Ban explained with his limited knowledge of amusement parks.

He thought if he were to create an amusement park, he definitely wouldn’t have people walking around in mascot costumes, but instead, he’d prefer something thrilling, like a night parade of a hundred demons.

The music continued, and Lu Ban also saw a teddy bear waving to the crowd, seeming to be one of the popular mascots of this amusement park.

Passersby took out their cellphones to take photos, and Lu Ban followed suit, snapping a few pictures as well.

After looking at the photos, Lu Ban felt something approaching from the front.

When he looked up, he saw it was the teddy bear.

The teddy bear waved to the blonde foreign girl beside Lu Ban, signaling for a picture together.

Lu Ban hurriedly took her phone and with his typical male camera skills, he snapped a photo.

“Thank you, my name is Jennie, from Shangcheng No.3 High School,”

The girl, noticing Lu Ban’s good looks, introduced herself.

“Oh, I’m just a common visitor passing by,”

Lu Ban quickly remembered that Shangcheng No.3 High School was the school where students had gone missing.

“Does that mean those missing people might have been trapped in this amusement park?”

He, Shia, and Feng Yu squeezed out of the crowd and discussed what they had seen so far.

Although they had only been to the restaurant and watched the grand parade, neither had shown any signs of oddities.

“Generally speaking, after the night parade, the park is supposed to close and visitors should be asked to leave,”

Lu Ban commented, based on his own experience.

“We should have come earlier; now we might not be able to experience all the attractions,”

Shia lamented.

“Yeah, why did we come so late?”

Feng Yu agreed, looking at Lu Ban as if asking for an explanation.

“Isn’t that because…”

Lu Ban seemed to remember something.

Next to him, Laika was rubbing against his leg, making an affectionate sound.

“What’s that thing?”

Shia shielded her eyes from the glaring sun. Under the morning light, the Ferris wheel was slowly rotating, sending couples up into the sky one after another.

“It’s the Ferris wheel; you can overlook the entire park from up there. Shouldn’t we go up first and have a look?”

Lu Ban thought.

However, only two people could fit into one Ferris wheel cabin, and there were three of them, which was a bit awkward.

“You two go ahead. I’ll just wander around down here and ask around,”

Feng Yu said she didn’t want to go to high places and stayed with Laika on the ground.

“Okay.”

Lu Ban and Shia boarded the Ferris wheel and as the machine started, their cabin gradually rose higher, allowing them to take in the views of the amusement park filled with mountains of joyful visitors.

He saw high school students from who knows where hanging out, employees in yellow uniforms selling ice cream, and the teddy bear handing out balloons to everyone.

Shia also observed these scenes, trying to spot any abnormalities. Soon, her gaze fell on a river—Lingjiang.

“In my Foreign Domain, you hardly see such scenes anymore,”

She expressed somewhat wistfully.

Turning her gaze, Shia noticed that Lu Ban’s expression had turned serious.

“What’s wrong?”

The girl asked.

“There’s a problem.”

Lu Ban felt that something was definitely off.
