Chapter 458: 457. It doesn’t hurt anymore, it doesn’t hurt now_1 Chapter 458: 457. It doesn’t hurt anymore, it doesn’t hurt now_1 At noon, the sun blazed like fire.

There wasn’t even a hint of winter’s cold, but rather it felt like the height of summer.

Lu Ban had already taken off his jacket, sitting on the bench, fanning himself.

“Should we ask someone about the situation first, then go try out some attractions?”

he suggested.

“Indeed.”

Feng Yu nodded, noticing a girl nearby holding an ice cream cone who seemed to be a foreigner.

“Hello, could I ask what your name is?”

Seeing Feng Yu, the girl was taken aback, then replied.

“My name’s Jennie, and I’m here on a spring outing.”

“Where are you from?”

“Shangcheng No.3 High School, I came with my classmates.”

The girl pointed at some classmates not far away who were getting ready to ride the roller coaster; those foreign high school students, surrounded by a toy bear with balloons, were lively and full of youthful spirit.

“It’s my first time here, do you know which attractions are fun?”

Feng Yu asked.

“Which attractions, uh, they’re pretty fun, but if you ask me, the haunted house is quite good.”

Jennie thought for a moment, then answered.

“Okay, thank you.”

Feng Yu thanked her and went back to where Lu Ban and Shia were.

“These are the missing people; it looks like all those who disappeared are still in the amusement park, endlessly riding the attractions, providing entertainment.”

She concluded.

“She said the haunted house is quite good, so we can go take a look there first before deciding.”

The haunted house had a very terrifying atmosphere, with the facade of an abandoned hospital, mottled walls, and even bloodstains.

“Not bad.”

Lu Ban gave his assessment.

At the entrance, a yellow-clad staff member was sitting at the ticket check. He told Lu Ban and the others about the precautions, then let the three of them into the building.

And Laika, being a dog, obviously couldn’t go inside, so she had to wait outside the door.

The decorations inside the haunted house had that distinct haunted house flavor – that semi-real, semi-fake look. At first glance, they seemed intricate, but actually had many flaws and looked fake.

Lu Ban walked at the front.

It wasn’t a matter of who was braver, but among the three people present, Lu Ban had the weakest combat abilities.

This way, if something happened and Lu Ban instinctively made a move, it would result in minimal harm to the staff.

If it were Shia walking in front, she might react to a scare by casting an Explosion Spell in an instant.

“It’s very dark here; do you need me to use a Detection Spell?”

Shia asked, about to raise her hand.

“No, no need.”

After walking a few steps and the surroundings completely darkened, Lu Ban saw what seemed to be a glimmer of light ahead.

Under that red glow laid a hospital bed with what appeared to be a corpse covered by a white cloth.

Lu Ban slowly approached, well aware that next, the “corpse” would surely jump up.

Getting closer, the “corpse” under the white cloth suddenly sat up, his face covered in blood, struggling to lunge at Lu Ban.

“Pain, pain…. pain!”

Before Lu Ban could retreat, Shia’s fist flew down and she knocked the staff member unconscious.

Thump—

The “corpse” lay back down.

“It doesn’t hurt now, all good.”

Lu Ban covered it back up with the white cloth, pretending as if nothing had happened, and muttered to himself.

“You can’t hit people; what if the amusement park makes us pay compensation?”

He gave another warning to Shia.

The three of them continued forward.

It was another room glowing with green light.

It appeared to be a consultation room, and inside stood several individuals dressed in nurse uniforms.

Just as Lu Ban approached the entrance to the consultation room, he saw the nurses inside suddenly begin to move.

They danced with twisted postures, inching closer to the entrance, and in the dim green light, one could see that their faces lacked normal features, only a massive mouth that resembled a monster from some game.

Watching their robotic dance movements, Lu Ban had a flash of inspiration and immediately opened his mouth.

“Good Fortune Comes to wish you good fortune, bringing happiness and love…”

The song Good Fortune Comes echoed in the consultation room.

The nurses in uniform seemed a bit thrown off for a moment.

They exchanged glances, unsure whether to dance along to Lu Ban’s tune or continue with their scare tactics.

This didn’t seem scary at all.

As the song ended, Shia exploded into applause.

Very enthusiastic.

“You sing so well!”

She complimented, noting such positive and uplifting music was what Night Country needed.

“Mediocre, just mediocre.”

Lu Ban said modestly, as the nurses also nodded, gave a bow, and returned to their original positions, waiting for the next guests.

The three of them continued forward, ascending the creaking staircase to arrive in front of a room flickering with orange-yellow light.

Here, a doctor wearing a mask was holding a saw, ready to cut off a patient’s leg.

“No, no, please no, it hurts so much, it hurts so much!”

The patient screamed in agony, but the doctor’s saw still fell.

“Aaaaah!”

The patient howled as his leg was cut off, dropping right in front of Feng Yu.

“My leg, my leg…”

The patient reached for his leg with a look filled with deep resentment, staring at Feng Yu and the others.

Feng Yu crouched down, picked up the prop leg, and then handed it back to the patient.

“Your leg.”

“…Thank you, thank you.”

The patient and the doctor stared, bewildered at Feng Yu, feeling like he wasn’t following the script.

Where was the screaming, the terror, the frantic escape?

Wasn’t this a bit too calm?

“When you use the saw, you should cut from this joint here; it’s easier to saw through, otherwise it damages the saw too much. I used to do this a lot, so I’m pretty clear on it,” Shia then advised the doctor.

“Oh, alright, thanks.”

The doctor nodded, trying to understand.

It wasn’t until the three of them continued forward and left that the doctor and the patient exchanged glances.

“Is something not quite right here?”

When Lu Ban and the others came out of the haunted house, there hadn’t been any frights. The haunted house was set up like any typical amusement park haunted house, relying on dimly lit environments and suddenly jumping staff to scare visitors. It was all very standard.

If Lu Ban were to design a haunted house, it definitely wouldn’t be like this. First, he would max out the atmosphere, then add a touch of psychological horror to suggest fear, letting the visitors imagine rather than directly see, for the unknown is the greatest fear.

Just like Lu Ban and his companions, now in the amusement park, everything looked normal, but this place was clearly dominated by eerie entities. All that was normal was abnormal.

After exiting the haunted house, Lu Ban still couldn’t find any trace of the presence of sinister entities.

He glanced at the corgi squatting at the entrance. Doggo was sitting there obediently with its tongue out, not even giving a passing glance to the toy bear strolling by.

“Perhaps the anomalies only appear at night?”

Shia glanced at the horizon. The sun was setting, about to dip below the horizon, and dusk was approaching.
