I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 456 - 456 455. Carousel_1

Chapter 456: 455. Carousel_1 Chapter 456: 455. Carousel_1 Walking into the amusement park, Lu Ban didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary.

He used “True Sight” to examine things, only to conclude that this place was indeed an amusement park.

That’s the thing about the uncanny; if you can’t grasp the Rules, you can’t see through the deception. Lu Ban needed to get in touch with the Rules step by step, understand them, before he could possibly see through it.

“There’s an amusement park guidebook available,”

Feng Yu pointed to the ticket booth.

A staff member in a yellow uniform sat at the ticket booth and glanced at the trio.

“One hundred yuan for a ticket,”

he said in a flat voice.

“Can we use a QR code to pay?”

Lu Ban looked around but didn’t find an interface for QR code payment.

“Cash only,”

the staff member pointed to a sign beside him.

“…This is not user-friendly at all. In this internet age, how can you not have electronic payment? How are you going to attract more visitors?”

Lu Ban couldn’t help muttering under his breath.

Probably because this amusement park first appeared overseas, where mobile payment methods aren’t as developed as they are domestically—many places still use cash and credit cards—so there’s no update for QR codes yet.

More importantly, Lu Ban didn’t bring any money.

“…Do you have cash?”

Lu Ban turned to Feng Yu.

It went without saying that Shia had no money; it wasn’t even worth asking.

“…What do you think?”

Feng Yu looked at Lu Ban with a smile.

“I do have some money…”

Shia fished out a few Coins from her Armor and placed them on the counter.

“?”

The staff member was taken aback, unsure how to count this foreign money that the local uncanny had likely never seen before.

“I got it,”

Lu Ban stepped back a few paces, then stealthily pulled out his notepad. His right hand materialized that silver Steel pen.

The pen wrote a line of text in the notepad.

“Three hundred yuan.”

He tore off the note and returned to the ticket booth, handing the slip of paper with the writing to the ticket seller.

“Here.”

The ticket seller took the note skeptically, looked at it twice, then placed it into the cash register, and handed over three copies of the amusement park guide and tickets.

“Welcome to Happy Valley of Jiangcheng.”

Taking the amusement park guidebook, Lu Ban immediately turned and walked into the park.

After a moment, the ticket seller felt something was off as he watched the departing figures of three people and a Corgi.

He opened the cash register and saw a white sticky note lying inside, with “Three hundred yuan” written in bold letters.

“!!!”

The ticket seller was shocked.

“The equipment in this amusement park is quite comprehensive,”

Lu Ban mused, blending in with the crowd as he read through the amusement park guidebook.

These guidebooks typically feature maps of the park and descriptions of various attractions.

“Roller coaster, just a roller coaster, it looks thrilling and exciting!”

“Ferris wheel, perfect for couples, a world just for two!”

“Carousel, childhood memories, worth having!”

“Haunted house, screams and fear, a different experience!”

“Restaurant, all delicious food!”

“Grand parade, your source of joy!”

These were the main attractions.

“Do we have to experience all the attractions?”

Lu Ban watched the roller coaster roar by with bursts of screaming.

Speaking of roller coasters, one can’t help but think of a death due to a roller coaster accident—if you lose your head halfway through the ride, that would be rather unpleasant.

The three of them stood and watched the roller coaster rides that had passed, and there seemed to be no problem.

“By the way, where do these tourists come from?”

Lu Ban looked around at the people, who were mostly common folks, and also found nothing amiss.

“Just grab one and ask.”

Shia went ahead and grabbed a girl who looked like a high school student.

“What’s your name, and where do you come from?”

The girl was flustered and hesitated for a moment before she began to speak.

“I-I’m called Jennie, from Shangcheng No.3 High School.”

She spoke in German, which, aside from Lu Ban, the other two understood as well.

“Shangcheng No.3 High School, that seems to be the name of the high school where the incident happened before.”

Feng Yu pondered.

“Does that mean all those who disappeared are trapped in the amusement park, unable to leave, and can only repeatedly experience the rides day after day?”

Shia realized.

“According to the task’s description, we must play all the rides, grasp the Rules, and survive, meaning these rides will have events that lead to death, and if we don’t grasp all the Rules, we can’t leave the amusement park?”

Lu Ban roughly sorted out the steps of the task.

Perhaps there is a rule to master for every amusement park ride, or maybe there are some basic rules of the amusement park that need to be grasped. In any case, now that they’ve stepped into this place, they must decipher the Rules to leave.

“Then let’s start with a ride.”

Feng Yu pointed at the roller coaster.

“This one?”

“Shouldn’t we start with something simpler and more relaxing?”

Lu Ban looked at the carousel next to them.

“Sure.”

Feng Yu, resigned, headed for the carousel.

The three of them went through the ticket check, with each person picking what they would ride.

Feng Yu got on a unicorn, Shia got into a carriage, and Lu Ban on a bear.

There were also some other tourists, and the ride started quickly, just like any normal amusement park.

With joyful music playing, Lu Ban looked around for any issues.

The bear beneath him began to move, and the unicorn Feng Yu was riding swayed up and down, causing their vision to begin to shake.

After one round, aside from feeling a bit dizzy, there didn’t seem to be anything particularly unusual.

“Strange.”

Lu Ban looked at his palm and felt that there was no problem.

“Or is it that a mutation has actually occurred, but our cognition has been hindered so we haven’t noticed it?”

He glanced at Laika who was waiting on the side.

The Corgi sat quietly and obediently in place.

“Should we ride it again?”

Shia looked at the carousel.

She had quite a fun ride just now.

This time, Shia chose the unicorn that moved up and down, Lu Ban sat in the carriage, and Feng Yu climbed onto the bear.

The music started, and the world began to spin.

It seemed that staff members were also participating, as Lu Ban saw a toy bear sitting on the horse in front of him, waving to the crowd.

Another round ended, and the three of them still hadn’t encountered any abnormal conditions.

“It’s very strange, have we already fallen into a cognitive distortion?”

Shia glanced at Laika, the Corgi stretched out its tongue, sitting in place, looking towards the three of them.

“Maybe the carousel is safe.”

Lu Ban thought to himself.

“But we also haven’t grasped any Rules from the carousel.”

It was becoming stranger by the moment.

He noticed in the crowd, a toy bear holding many balloons, offering them to the children.

Laughter and joy filled the park, making one smile unconsciously.

The amusement park was enveloped in peacefulness, as if it were the happiest place in the world.
