I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 426 - 426 425. Pig brain overload_1
Chapter 426: 425. Pig brain overload_1 Chapter 426: 425. Pig brain overload_1 This room was obviously going to be visited later in the escape room, and Lu Ban casually glanced around and spotted several mechanisms. One of them was a doll dressed in a red wedding gown that dropped down from above the bed, while another was a mirror that was actually made with glass and light projection. As the light shifted, the mirror would turn transparent, revealing the face behind it.
These two mechanisms were enough to frighten anyone.
Lu Ban glanced over and saw the woman standing in the corner, seemingly muttering something to herself.
“Ma’am, if you have something to say, you can talk to me,” he said persuasively, like a psychologist.
The woman glared at Lu Ban with eyes filled with resentment.
At that moment, the door to the room opened and the NPC dressed in the bridal outfit entered.
He immediately noticed Lu Ban in the room.
“Holy shit!!!”
Startled, he took a few looks to recognize this was a guest, wondering how the guest had gotten there. Then he heard Lu Ban speaking.
“It’s okay, I won’t hurt you, you can trust me. Just speak up, whatever it is, and if I can help you, I certainly will…”
He appeared to be talking to thin air next to him, as if—as if someone was standing there!!!
The NPC originally thought someone was standing in a dark corner, but after rubbing his eyes and taking a closer look, he noticed there was no one there!
“???”
As is well-known, the NPCs in the escape room definitely knew how many companions were supposed to be in the room.
So when an extra person suddenly appeared… the problem became serious.
“Oh, I see.”
Lu Ban nodded and turned his attention to the NPC.
“This lady has been here for a long time. She sees how hard you work every day dressing up as a bride, so she wanted to cheer you on. And she also said…”
Lu Ban paused to listen, and then continued.
“…she said when she died, it was from illness, not by hanging. You got it wrong,” he said.
Upon hearing Lu Ban’s words, the NPC froze.
“Sir, please, don’t joke about this.”
He tried to pass it off as Lu Ban making a joke.
Just then, a voice came through the walkie-talkie used for communicating with the control room.
“Hey, Xiao Xu, is that a guest next to you? Why is there a woman in red standing there?”
Upon hearing this, the NPC glanced beside him.
There was nothing there.
“No… there’s nothing,” he said, his voice beginning to tremble.
“Don’t worry, she means no harm to you,” Lu Ban reassured him.
The NPC took another look at the spot Lu Ban was staring at.
There really was nothing there.
But a chill ran up his spine.
His legs went weak, and he collapsed.
…
“What’s the big deal? These NPCs are so lame, they just fall apart so easily,” Qin Tiantian said smugly as she patted her flat chest outside the escape room.
“So, you are saying that you’re very brave?” Lu Ban asked.
“Duh, of course I’m super brave,” Qin Tiantian replied without hesitation.
“Then if you’re so brave, why don’t you walk by yourself?”
Lu Ban glanced at Qin Tiantian, who could barely move her feet without his support. Her legs were still shaking uncontrollably.
“It’s been too long, my legs, my legs are numb.”
Qin Tiantian managed to squeeze out a smile.
They found a place to sit down, and Lu Ban bought two cups of ice cream. It’s said that having something sweet after a scare could help replenish sugar levels and alleviate symptoms.
Handing the ice cream to Qin Tiantian, Lu Ban took a bite of his own. It was cold and refreshing, and the flavor was really good.
It was now September, and Jiangcheng was still quite hot. Qin Tiantian’s outfit of a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers was very casual, but it still attracted some attention.
She accepted the ice cream and pointed toward another side of the mall.
“I just saw a toy bear walk past. It must be tough in this hot weather.”
Following her gesture, Lu Ban didn’t see anything but some children holding balloons, probably sold by staff members dressed in costume.
“Why did you suddenly decide to try out an escape room? I think the places you’ve been before are much scarier than escape rooms.”
Qin Tiantian, enjoying her ice cream, asked casually.
“I’m planning to make something similar.”
Lu Ban spoke the honest truth.
“Are you gathering material for a movie about escape rooms?”
Qin Tiantian’s eyes were drawn to the grilled squid skewers being sold in the distance, sizzling with oil and emitting a tempting aroma that made her drool.
“No, I want to create ‘a large-scale immersive live-action game.'”
Lu Ban corrected her.
“What?”
Qin Tiantian reacted belatedly, looking at Lu Ban.
“You, a big-shot director, are running off to make an escape room? Are you out of your mind?”
She was forthright in her questioning.
Lu Ban, currently in the top five globally at the box office and having won the grand slam at all three major film festivals, could have considered his career in entertainment complete. With such impressive achievements, why would he be interested in creating something as trivial as an escape room?
This was as absurd as a six-time table tennis grand slam winner suddenly deciding to embark on a career in esports to reclaim the glory of the Chinese team.
“There is no high or low, no noble or base in forms. As long as it suits the expression, it is fine.”
Lu Ban answered.
Movies and novels are, in fact, forms of artistic expression. The same story, presented through text, visuals, or dynamic effects, can be completely different.
Some stories are suited to novels, where words can unleash boundless imagination.
Some stories are meant for films, where powerful visual impacts can move people’s hearts.
Certainly, there must be stories that fit puzzle games.
The main reason Lu Ban thought this was because presenting the storyline of Stone and Liz purely through film made it difficult to integrate smoothly with the normal puzzle-solving elements. If they ran concurrently, the audience would quickly lose the sense of suspense, but piling it up towards the end would seem rushed and lacking in setup.
However, if presented through a role-playing game with a strong sense of immersion, then the audience, or rather players, would be able to experience the emotions of these characters and the atmosphere of Abandoned Capital, which would surely be effective.
“So, where do you plan to do this? The rent for venues here is quite expensive, right? This place has three floors; I guess it costs tens of thousands a month… Uh, you’re not short on cash, so never mind.”
Qin Tiantian suddenly remembered that the guy sitting next to her was a damned rich person.
“It’s more than that. I plan to find an abandoned town and transform the whole town into the setting.”
Lu Ban said simply.
Although it wouldn’t be an exact replica of Abandoned Capital, at least most of the scenes should be restored for the immersion to work.
Moreover, Lu Ban thought that this might be an opportunity.
Looking at the trajectory of the Western Hemisphere’s Strongest Legal Affairs Department, owning a multitude of IPs could be the foundation for building a large theme park.
“What???”
Upon hearing Lu Ban’s plans, Qin Tiantian felt like her brain was about to overload.
