I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 425 - 425 424. Im super brave_1

Chapter 425: 424. I’m super brave_1 Chapter 425: 424. I’m super brave_1 River Oblivion: An escape room? Are you underestimating your intelligence or mine? Do you really think I’m the kind of person who can get out of an escape room?

Motionless: Quite confident, aren’t you?

River Oblivion: Of course, I am. Back in university, when my class went to an escape room and did a side quest, I was the only one who didn’t make it out.

Motionless: That’s pretty impressive.

River Oblivion: Which escape room is it?

Motionless: This one.

Lu Ban shared a link.

Qin Tiantian clicked it and immediately saw a woman in a red wedding dress with a pallid face and pitch-black eyes without whites, looking at her with a resentful gaze.

“Holy shit!”

Qin Tiantian couldn’t help but curse as her phone almost smashed into her face while lying in bed.

Picking up the phone, she saw it was a horror-themed escape room called “Red Candle”, claimed to be the scariest in Jiangcheng and referred to as the pinnacle of horror escape rooms.

There are many escape rooms with wedding themes, most of which are just variations on the same old story: years ago the groom wronged the bride, leading to her death, her restless spirit haunts the descendants of the groom, or just minor variations on that theme.

But they’re genuinely scary.

Some classmates might say, “I watch horror movies like I’m eating and drinking, without even blinking. How could I be scared of such things?”

But when you’re actually inside an escape room, the atmosphere created and the innate human fear of the dark still give you chills. Add a few classic scary setups, and at least you’ve got an opportunity to grab a girl’s hand without a problem.

You could even say that the rise of horror escape rooms is like taking a girlfriend to see a horror movie in the past, just an excuse to get more physical contact.

If it were someone else inviting her to this kind of escape room, Qin Tiantian might suspect they had too much free time on their hands. But it was Lu Ban inviting her, so she instantly felt relieved.

River Oblivion: Okay, no problem!

Qin Tiantian immediately agreed.

If it were still her face-showing livestream, then this would make for another video to create content.

Thinking this, Qin Tiantian immediately looked up information related to the escape room.

Some escape rooms have people upload puzzle solutions and plots. While this kind of spoiler can ruin the mystery of the escape room, for some male students wanting to show off in front of their girlfriends, it couldn’t be better.

After all, it’s better than your girlfriend remaining unscared while your own legs turn to jelly.

Qin Tiantian quickly found a video exploring this escape room.

She clicked play, clutching her shark pillow, and watched carefully.

After a while, Qin Tiantian couldn’t help but press the pause button.

“This is way too scary!”

This escape room not only had puzzles, but also side quests where a single person had to venture out alone, and NPC chases where being caught meant game over. Even without considering anything else, just the idea of running wildly in that unfamiliar confined space was enough to make anyone’s heart race.

Qin Tiantian was suddenly having second thoughts.

What’s wrong with me? Is the game not fun anymore, or is my blanket not warm enough that I have to do this?

But since she had already agreed, cancelling last minute would probably get her mocked.

Moreover, according to Qin Tiantian’s observation, Lu Ban definitely was keeping some secret from her.

Although curious, Qin Tiantian knew something: in normal stories, the more you know, the quicker you die, so she decided to act as if she knew nothing.

The next day, near a commercial plaza in the Jiangcheng District.

This commercial plaza was a project developed by Jiangcheng Industries. Rounding up, it could be considered a colleague of Lu Ban.

Aside from shopping, dining, and movies, this escape room was also part of the square’s attractions.

Lu Ban had reserved a session of “Red Candle” in advance, but as the room required at least four people to form a group, he and Qin Tiantian had joined with others.

The other two were a young couple, seemingly college students, who did not recognize Lu Ban. Still, they whispered that Qin Tiantian was pretty cute, which made the youngster a bit too pleased with himself.

Once inside the escape room, the surroundings darkened. Lu Ban took a look around; it was a typical traditional Chinese setting, but quite rough in execution. It would look quite fake with the lights on, relying heavily on the dark environment.

The story was simple: the player’s grandfather had suddenly passed away, and the player had to return to inherit the old house, only to encounter a haunting.

Lu Ban, with a mindset to learn, carefully examined the setups.

Thanks to True Sight, Lu Ban could see everything clearly, even in this environment.

As he looked around, he suddenly noticed someone sneaking out of a cabinet behind him.

It was pitch black there, so normally one wouldn’t be able to see anything.

Lu Ban saw that the person was wearing a red bridal gown, with long black hair, but the build was muscular, likely a man.

It must be an NPC, he thought.

To not spoil the experience for the other players, Lu Ban pretended not to notice.

The NPC crept up behind Qin Tiantian, who was trembling with fear, and made threatening gestures.

However, Qin Tiantian seemed a bit slow to react; the NPC’s exaggerated expressions went unnoticed by her for a long time.

When people are too tense, they can become like this, focusing so intently that they ignore dangers close by.

The NPC, seeing this, looked towards Lu Ban.

Then, he saw Lu Ban’s eyes.

“…”

The two locked eyes for a moment, and the NPC still made a show of waving its arms around.

Lu Ban couldn’t stand it anymore; he tapped Qin Tiantian’s shoulder.

“Wahhh!!!”

Qin Tiantian jumped up abruptly with an electric shock-like scream. Instinctively aiming to cling to Lu Ban, but the clever and witty Lu Ban didn’t give her the chance; he picked up the young girl, leaving her nowhere to run.

The couple were also startled, with the girl clutching her boyfriend’s hand and looking over in panic.

“Over here.”

Lu Ban kindly pointed it out to Qin Tiantian and the couple, who all screamed upon seeing the NPC.

This left the NPC quite bewildered.

After the scare, Lu Ban felt he had grasped something essential.

Watching the NPC leave through a secret door and preparing to follow the rest of the group, he suddenly noticed something different.

A woman was standing in the corner, casting a melancholic glance towards where the NPC had exited.

At first, Lu Ban thought the NPCs here were quite professional, knowing to inflict secondary trauma during the phase where everyone had just relaxed from the initial scare. But upon closer inspection, he realized something.

That woman, might she not be human?

In this haunted escape room, was there really a ghost?

Lu Ban watched as the woman entered the half-open secret door, seemingly in pursuit of the NPC.

After pondering for a moment, Lu Ban looked back at Qin Tiantian and the others, who were shaking and exploring ahead in the darkness. He decided to follow this eerie entity to see what would unfold.

Lu Ban moved through the secret door into a room that resembled a boudoir.
