I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 383 - 383 382. Heartwarming Lu Ban_1

Chapter 383: 382. Heartwarming Lu Ban_1 Chapter 383: 382. Heartwarming Lu Ban_1 Bai Qiquan could no longer remember how he managed to watch the entire movie.

During the final segment of the plot, the entire studio was dead silent, everyone watching the images on the big screen with dilated pupils.

When Amber’s corpse appeared, someone in the movie theater suddenly made a vomiting noise.

Bai Qiquan felt his stomach churn as acid and bitter gastric juices surged up his throat, and he covered his mouth, feeling a wrenching pain in his stomach.

This was a stomachache caused by psychological effects, usually a result of too much stress, extreme nervousness, or after a strong stimulus.

The dialogue from the plot reached his ears, and Bai Qiquan felt as if he both understood and did not understand.

His eyes were blurry, and he experienced a surreal feeling.

The scenes he was responsible for depicted Amber as such a beautiful girl, her smile so delightful, so full of hope, so pure and innocent.

Why did she have to suffer like this?

What in the world is going wrong?

The scenes I crafted with my own hands…

Bai Qiquan’s brain buzzed, feeling blood rush to his eardrums, like three alarm buzzers of a nuclear alert exploding in his head.

His breathing became rapid, and a warm stream flowed from his nose.

Bai Qiquan realized he was having a nosebleed.

He quickly stuffed tissue paper into his nostrils and looked up, only to see Amber desperately struggling in the flames.

He glanced at his girlfriend beside him, and saw that Pang Zhen had turned completely dumbfounded, only able to open her mouth wide and stare at the scene where the fire raged, losing all reaction.

For a moment, cries of pain filled the cinema.

It was like a sharp knife plunged into his heart and was still twisting, tearing the wound open.

Bai Qiquan found it hard to breathe as the plot on the big screen delivered blow after blow, leaving him unable to react, as if he had truly gone through such a journey with a young girl, really witnessed her growth, her choices, her death.

In the movie that found its conclusion among the sakura, not a single audience member stood up to leave.

There was no applause, no cheers, no vehement scolding or curses.

Everyone’s face bore an extremely complex expression.

It was as if one had been struck hard by someone they were close to and just when the pain became unbearable, that person gently caressed the wound with the most tender and sincere concern.

It was also like, burning with rage to confront one’s most hated enemy, ready to revel in exacting revenge and slaying the foe, only to discover that over the years, he had saved countless children from suffering and even became the support of many people’s lives, realizing that killing him would plunge more people into greater misfortune.

Did Lu Ban’s film heal people’s hearts?

If one were to say that Lu Ban’s film healed people’s hearts, then this group of spectators would surely curse, ‘This is what you call healing people’s hearts???’

This is clearly like luring a dog in to kill it, if this counts as warmth, healing, or growth, then ‘Cry’ can definitely win Best Comedy.

He used every means to showcase Amber’s beauty to the audience, portraying the journey as a delicately warm tale of growth. In a hundred minutes, he wove a trip that was a tad thrilling yet mostly tender, then, in less than ten minutes, he shattered everything in the most unbearable way for people.

But it seems that getting the audience to curse aloud isn’t that easy.

Whose fault was Amber’s death after all? Was it the protagonist’s? The shrine maidens’? Her own talent’s? Or the Divine Sakura’s that had sheltered humanity for thousands of years? In the confusion of their thoughts, people came to the conclusion that the world was to blame.

If the world could be just a little bit better, then no one would need to get hurt.

But it is just that tiny bit less than perfect.

If they cursed Lu Ban over Amber’s death, attacking him indiscriminately or hurling vile comments, trying to find Lu Ban’s flaws, that would mean the world’s despair had successfully permeated the audience’s consciousness.

Lu Ban had achieved what he set out to do when making the movie.

This means it’s a perfect movie.

Many films, whether commercial or artistic, present a story to the audience, resonating with them through the narrative, thereby eliciting an emotional response.

But in Lu Ban’s movie, he materialized a hope only to crush it entirely, creating despair and making the audience genuinely feel it all.

After experiencing such a world of despair, Bai Qiquan suddenly felt that nothing seemed to matter that much anymore.

Though the world had all sorts of problems—environmental, wars, ethnic, religious, poverty, hunger—at least it wasn’t like the world in the film where one was doomed no matter what, where human civilization was being eroded bit by bit within sight, and where humanity was pushing itself into an abyss, where the best among them were only fit to become fuel for the fire, dying in agony and despair.

With this in mind, life now seemed a bit too blessed.

Bai Qiquan felt he could no longer afford to be despondent; he must try harder, as he saw everything in the world as so beautiful and hopeful. The mere fact that the sun would rise as usual tomorrow was happiness.

Stepping out of the theater, Bai Qiquan saw the next audience still waiting outside.

They bore faces full of anticipation, eyes brimming with envy, oblivious to what they were awaiting.

At the moment Bai Qiquan saw them and felt the crystal-clear moonlight, the azure sky, and the pure air, he suddenly understood everything.

He understood why the people he had seen at the premiere had such expressions, why the acerbic critic changed his tune so drastically after watching Lu Ban’s film, lavishing praise on Lu Ban and recommending his movie, and why all the viewers were giving unanimous praise, while completely avoiding any mention of the last scene.

Because they didn’t want to destroy the chance for others to be healed.

If the plot was known in advance, the movie’s impact would be much less; the audience would watch with a predetermined mindset, unable to fully immerse and engage in the story, naturally diminishing the strong impact and the true experience of despair.

And thus, they wouldn’t be able to enjoy that healing.

Now, in Bai Qiquan’s eyes, every person emitted hope, and the whole world was thriving. He thought it was fantastic.

Such an experience, tender-hearted as he was, he definitely couldn’t deprive others of it.

Everyone was just too gentle.

Bai Qiquan glanced at his girlfriend Pang Zhen beside him.

She had recovered from her earlier stunned expression. Her brows were furrowed deeply, but seeing the people outside, seeing those expectant viewers, seeing Bai Qiquan smiling at her warmly, she too understood everything.

Then, Pang Zhen also showed a healing smile toward those viewers.
