I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 351 - 351 350. Shrine Maiden of Pure Fire_1

Chapter 351: 350. Shrine Maiden of Pure Fire_1 Chapter 351: 350. Shrine Maiden of Pure Fire_1 Lu Ban had once seen the Pure Fire from the Great Shrine of He Dao, a pale flame that could ignite even the air itself, and within its fierce blaze, even eternity could dissolve away.

But he had never seen the Pure Fire from a common shrine maiden.

It was said that only the Shrine Maiden Lord of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island could command the Pure Fire, which was a fiery tapestry bearing the divine will. Before this flame, a common shrine maiden had but one fate—complete incineration.

Yet, in Amber’s hands, the pale flame ignited.

This flame appeared cold and indifferent, as merciless as the gaze cast down by the gods themselves.

Within the pallor, there was a myriad of iridescent colors like a rainbow, the purest black roiling and enveloping the pale fire, quickly shrouded by ash-gray. Countless hues brewed within this flame, and no one could discern every color present.

“Pure Fire.”

Lu Ban knew that seeing this flame meant Amber’s will was resolved.

She would forsake the life of an ordinary girl, plain and unadorned, and head to the Great Shrine of Harmony Island to vie for that supreme position, to become the Chief Priestess above all, serving the deities for life, blessing He Dao, never to step out of the Grand Shrine again.

And Lu Ban was very certain that Amber could achieve it if she wished to.

Because no shrine maiden before had been able to wield the Pure Fire with such ease before inheriting the title of Shrine Maiden Lord; they couldn’t even touch it.

But Amber, she truly was the chosen one, possibly the strongest shrine maiden next to the first Chief Priestess.

The pale and dazzling flame glided over Amber’s skin, not scorching her, but rather, like a living thing, it soared toward the sky, toward the location of the government office.

There, by the edge of a deep green pool, trees made of human flesh and bones grew, bearing human heads with expressions of agony, incomplete and misshapen, while all sorts of monsters, insects, birds, and beasts made from human limbs roamed in the black fog. No living being could endure such an environment; even just a glance by a normal person would cast doubt upon the reality of the world and eventually lead them to choose suicide in madness.

The silent fire burst forth in the darkest place where the mist was thickest.

Like a ray piercing through darkness, the blaze spread rapidly, devouring the green pond, the fungal-covered ground, the twisted trees, and everything from the abyss.

All returned to the primordial flame that had existed since the world’s creation.

The wails, the anger, the resentments—all dissolved into nothingness along with the flames.

In front of Lu Ban, countless monsters emerged.

Some fled from the Pure Fire behind them, while others sought to slay every living thing they saw; on the now desolate island, they spotted Lu Ban and Amber.

Lu Ban saw that Amber was murmuring under her breath.

It was a chant that seemed familiar yet incomprehensible to him, almost like a song.

According to the myths and legends he knew related to shrine maidens, the original shrine maidens danced and sang to please the deities. Hence, the first shrine maidens worshiped and sacrificed to the gods through song and dance.

Now, Amber seemed as though she were dancing.

Her right hand lifted delicately, as if picking up an invisible folding fan. With a gentle wave of the fan, a burst of multicolored black flame devoured the filth trying to charge at them.

A barrier of flame formed between the two and the filthy creatures.

Lu Ban felt he had overestimated himself.

With or without him there, Amber would not have suffered any harm.

In fact, because Lu Ban was there, Amber couldn’t use the Pure Fire to cleanse the entire Island directly; he was actually a hindrance to Amber’s combat strength.

In the heart of Changfeng Island, a thorough purification was underway.

And on the outskirts of Changfeng Island, those islanders fortunate enough to have boarded boats were paddling vigorously, trying to flee their homeland.

They watched their native land, enshrouded in black clouds, cleansed by flames of pale and pitch intertwining, but no one could feel any sentimentality.

Amid such extraordinary clashes of power, mortals could only look up in awe.

Some prostrated themselves in worship, muttering prayers to the Shrine Maiden; others fell into madness, erupting in unprecedented laughter; some remained silent, faces etched with depression and sorrow.

On the shore, where the black mist spread over the sand, Laika prepared to toss both the mistress and the little girl into the small boat.

However, several abominations stretched out their tentacles, entwining the mistress’s ankles. The corrupting force quickly caused that foot to decay and fall off, and the mistress lost her balance.

Laika feared the black mist and saw that two people, one big, one small, were about to be devoured by it.

Just then, the mistress, whose body had been mostly corrupted by the abominations and had become something neither human nor ghost, suddenly erupted with a might she had never possessed before.

With all her strength, she threw her daughter out of the black mist that spelled despair for mortals.

Laika caught the little girl.

The little girl did not see her mother’s final expression; she missed the eyes interwoven with both relief and fear, terror and despair. And Laika did not understand such human emotions.

She and the little girl got on the small boat, and among the wails of howling cries, the boat swiftly headed out to the open sea.

On the sand, the colorful black flames devoured the abominations, dust returned to dust, earth to earth, and everything was enveloped in silence.

Looking at the crying little girl, Laika turned back into her Corgi form and used her body to warm the girl whose temperature had turned icy from fear.

She barked twice towards the Island but got no response.

Just then, a clear and pleasant bell sound rang from the heavens.

All the people, regardless of their prior emotions or states, now looked up because of this bell sound.

Looking toward the sky, a stream of silver light came from the direction of He Dao and landed right in the center of the Island.

An even more magnificent and dazzling flame lit up.

“It’s the Shrine Maiden!”

“Shrine Maiden, please save us!”

“Shrine Maiden Lord, please forgive my sins, please redeem my soul.”

The islanders all knelt toward Changfeng Island, bowing their heads and offering their devotion and faith.

At that moment, someone saw that within the flames, there were two figures.

One was tall and handsome.

In front of him stood a petite girl.

Her black hair fluttered in the wind, and in her amber eyes, pale Fire converged.

“The Shrine Maiden has revealed herself!!!”

“Shrine Maiden Lord, Shrine Maiden Lord!”

“We are saved, we have been saved…”

The ignorant islanders thought this was the Chief Priestess of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island, their voices trembling even more, submissive to this transcendent power.

Only Lu Ban knew that within this Pure Fire, a girl had vanished.

From this moment on, she was Amber, the next Chief Priestess of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island.
