Chapter 349 - 349 348. Poisonous Coins_1
Chapter 349: 348. Poisonous Coins_1 Chapter 349: 348. Poisonous Coins_1 “My lord, we will immediately dispatch people to search the entire Island and we will definitely capture the perpetrator!”
Inside the yamen, the Island Steward’s responsible officer said to Lei Ting with obsequious flattery.
“Enough, you may leave.”
Lei Ting, unable to hide his disgust, waved the people away.
He did not want to deal with these humans of the Foreign Domain, but he had to admit, sometimes these foolish humans could be quite useful.
With the token of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island in hand, they believed whatever he said. Lei Ting was now just thankful that he had learned a bit about this Foreign Domain, able to concoct a reason to issue warrants for those two people on time.
He did not plan on staying here for long. Lei Ting only needed to issue warrants on all the islands here, and those humans would start searching for the Shrine Maiden themselves, helping Lei Ting unwittingly. Watching them about to destroy their own hopes, Lei Ting felt a sense of pleasure.
“That guy really was too impulsive and not smart enough, only thinking about himself. If he had known a little more, he would have had completely different methods.”
Lei Ting thought of his companion who had met his demise.
He took out a Coin from within his body, looking at it as its surface gradually turned black, as if it were corroded. Lei Ting put it away.
“There isn’t much time left.”
As a last resort, Lei Ting was reluctant to use this Coin, because it was very valuable and had severe side effects. However, to complete this highly difficult mission, he thought it was worth it.
While pondering, Lei Ting heard a noisy commotion coming from outside.
“Why can’t these humans ever understand the meaning of Silence?”
Lei Ting pushed open the door, ready to curse loudly, only to see several Island Stewards, including the responsible officer from before, flying through the air and falling to the ground, breaking who knows how many bones.
Between the wailing Island Stewards, saw a man who looked like a samurai.
He was holding a Crowbar, seemingly unharmed.
“Would it turn into a historical drama if I now declared ‘XXX has come to mete out justice,’ followed by a shout of ‘Heaven’s punishment’?”
Lu Ban was muttering to himself at this time.
“He actually came to me on his own?”
Lei Ting recognized at a glance that this was definitely a Chosen by Gods who was hostile to him, as well as the enemy who had killed his companion.
Without hesitation, the Bandages of his body unraveled, and the gray mist spread, causing everything it touched to age and wither, and those Island Stewards who were close to him quickly aged and shriveled, as if they were drained of life.
Simultaneously, Lei Ting quietly dropped a music box, which automatically opened upon hitting the ground, emitting a pleasant melody that would turn into a sinister tune after a moment, freezing the consciousness of everyone who heard it.
Moreover, Lei Ting had already extended part of his body outside of the courtyard, ready to sever and escape at the slightest sign of trouble; fleeing was the best policy.
That was why he had survived till now; this was his secure strategy.
However, Lu Ban seemed to not have made a move.
He simply spoke a word.
“Laika.”
The next moment, from somewhere unknown, a ferocious and horrific monster, covered in eyeballs and tentacles, lunged out at Lei Ting.
Lei Ting reacted swiftly, allowing his gray mist to disperse, while the music box’s tune became distorted and shrieking, like the sharp noise of nails scraping on a blackboard and glass, causing the Island Stewards who still had their consciousness to painfully cover their ears, their movements becoming sluggish.
But Laika’s speed was not reduced at all.
The spread tentacles grabbed at the gray mist, but missed.
It seemed that the gray mist could resist physical attacks, hindering Laika’s movements.
But Lu Ban had already raised his left hand.
Materializing in his hand was a silver pistol that only he could see, and from its barrel, he fired a Speech Bullet.
The silver bullet instantly hit the gray mist.
For Lu Ban’s “Testament,” no matter how the gray mist changed its shape, it couldn’t escape the attack of the Speech Bullet.
In an instant, Lei Ting’s head began to buzz noisily.
Countless murmurs crowded into his mind, making him delirious and robbing him of his sanity.
Lei Ting saw that, in the face of the music box’s melody, Lu Ban remained unmoved.
This was the demonic sound that would affect any normal person! How could it be!!!
How on earth did he… Right, this was Hunter. Could he actually be controlling Hunter? Who exactly was this guy?
Lei Ting attempted to maintain his consciousness by focusing on his thoughts, but the voices—grand, indifferent, maddening—filled every inch of his body, causing the gray mist to begin squirming like octopus tentacles.
He was well aware that he was running headlong toward monstrosity, with no way at all to stop any of it.
Once mutation began, there was no turning back.
Many odd things jutted out from that clump of smoke—horns made of twisted conches, grim and bizarre statues, black-covered notebooks, green gem crystals, and more.
Each one of these objects exuded an extraordinary, eerie aura, but before they could fall to the ground, they were reabsorbed by the gray mist.
Along with the music box on the ground, all the extraordinary items merged together, forming a peculiar mask.
The mask had no facial features, only distorted and uneven scars that would make anyone feel nauseous and uncomfortable at a glance. Apart from the mask, Lu Ban also saw a black coin.
The coin looked infected by toxins, covered in mold-like filth, with no discernible original pattern.
At the sight of that coin, Lu Ban felt a sense of familiarity.
He hurriedly picked up the mask, and at the same time, the dust on the ground formed System’s indifferent and cold text.
[Found the hostile invading Chosen by Gods: 2/2]
[Killed the hostile invading Chosen by Gods: 2/2]
It looked as if the Bandaged People were indeed dead.
Lu Ban saw System’s text slowly emerge on the mask.
[Twisted Mask of Pain]
[Unidentified]
[Identification price: 100 Silence Points]
“???”
Dammit, even identification is needed.
A hundred points meant nothing to the current Lu Ban, but before he had the chance to choose identification, he saw shadows being released from the coin.
These shadows firmly gripped the surviving Island Steward, and upon contact, their forms quickly collapsed into a mush of flesh, which then rapidly reconstituted into half-humanoid, twisted, grotesque monsters.
Lu Ban was familiar with the appearance of these monsters.
He saw more shadows gathering on the coin, forming a bloating monster with a million eyes.
By this time, Lu Ban had completely confirmed it.
These were abominations.
The culprits that had plagued the world of Harmony Island for centuries.
The Bandaged People’s coin had summoned these things to this world.
