I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 339 - 339 338.Evil Ghost_1

Chapter 339: 338.Evil Ghost_1 Chapter 339: 338.Evil Ghost_1 A huge, boundless dark shadow had appeared under the water at some unknown time. Lu Ban looked out to see that the blackness, thicker than even the storm clouds above, had already engulfed all of the sea that met the eye.

Within that darkness, something strange was brewing.

On the other side, the close-quarters battle had already begun; the war cries, even amidst the wind and rain, were deafening, and the sound of clashing swords and knives were enough to make one’s teeth ache.

With one slash, Shobu decapitated a soldier, her blade flinging off the fresh blood without the slightest resistance.

She wielded the longsword as if it were an extension of her own body, creating what seemed to be a barrier of blades in a short span of time, preventing anyone from getting close.

Standing at the entrance to the cabin, Shobu was like a guardian deity, fending off all enemies attempting to breach the interior.

“I am the representative of the Unmindful Style of Changfeng Island, the Thousand-Mile Sentry, come to vanquish the enemy general!”

A soldier wielding a katana approached Shobu.

He was tall, the sword in his hand shiny and incredibly sharp.

“Kill!”

With a loud shout, the soldier stepped forward, sword raised.

The longsword in Shobu’s hand twirled almost effortlessly, and as her blade moved, the soldier’s advance came to an abrupt halt along with his cry.

He had already passed by Shobu, his movements frozen, his face still twisted into the grimace it began with.

Just then, a line of blood appeared on his neck.

Plop—

The head of the swordsman from an unknown school fell to the ground, rolling several times before being stopped by another person’s foot.

“She’s just a woman, come on, let’s go at her together!”

A soldier from somewhere roared out this command, as several soldiers rushed forward with weapons in hand, not even noticing whether the one who yelled was charging with them.

Moments later, those soldiers too lay breathless on the ground.

“A demon, a demon!”

In such a situation, the morale of the attacking soldiers quickly collapsed. Many of them had never been all that strong-willed in combat to begin with, and now faced with such a terrifying enemy, it was already commendable that they weren’t fleeing.

Without a word, Shobu glanced at the neighboring boat; the majority of the enemy was invading this ship, while the other received fewer attacks and was slowly sailing away from the area. She was somewhat relieved, but her attention remained mostly on the current fight.

Only by winning this battle could she consider the future.

Just as Shobu had dealt with another soldier who recklessly approached, a figure appeared before her.

The person was wrapped in bandages, looking fierce and terrifying.

Instinct told Shobu that this opponent was extremely dangerous, unlike any enemy she had faced before.

“This one isn’t it either; where has that guy who could deal with ‘Flash’ gone to?”

Lei Ting looked at the woman in front of him. Even though she was strong, a level that would allow her to survive in the Foreign Domain for at least two or three worlds, unfortunately, she was not the Chosen by Gods.

His hand turned into mist, and the bandages flew out with it.

Crack—

Shobu swung her longsword, and the grey mist and bandages were instantly split in two, but such physical attacks couldn’t inflict any harm on Lei Ting.

His body turned into mist, circling around the longsword that sliced through the air, attempting to grab Shobu’s neck.

However, Lei Ting didn’t notice that Shobu’s longsword started to emit a faint light at that moment.

The inscriptions etched onto the blade seemed to come alive, twisting and writhing. As the sword’s edge made contact with Lei Ting’s misty form, the inscriptions spread onto the mist itself.

The fog that once seemed so ethereal suddenly became as tangible as reality itself. Lei Ting felt a wave of pain as he discovered his grey mist eroded by the sword’s literary script. His thoughts turned sluggish, like rusted gears, as countless incomprehensible murmurings flooded in, attempting to dominate his mind.

This sword is poisoned!

Lei Ting realized this immediately.

He retracted the mist he had extended from himself and, at the same time, expelled a box from his body.

When the box hit the ground and opened, it emitted a crisp musical note.

It was a music box.

The sound was clear and pleasant, like a lullaby melody that stood out distinctly amidst the thunderous cries and howling storm.

Shobu stepped back half a step, her long sword dragging out countless script characters, attempting to envelop Lei Ting.

But the music from the music box suddenly became distorted and monotonous as though a radio had lost its power.

Along with this change in the music, Shobu felt a chill creep up her spine.

Her movements slowed down as if entangled in a fishing net, every lift of her hand extremely strenuous.

What was more terrifying was that Shobu felt her head swell with pain as memories she shouldn’t recall, along with the madness of the murmuring voices, swirled in her mind, impossible to dispel.

On the deck, near the cabin, both friend and foe became enthralled upon hearing the music box’s sound. Some laughed hysterically, drool dripping from the corners of their mouths; some wailed bitterly, heart-wrenchingly; others, as if possessed, started stabbing their own bodies with their weapons, indifferent to the blood that flowed out.

No, I must wake up.

As this thought formed in Shobu’s mind, her fingers brushed against the blade of her sword.

The distorted and writhing script climbed up her arm; in an instant, even more harrowing whispers echoed around her ears.

Regaining her lucidity, she only felt a cold sensation at her heart.

A grey translucent blade had pierced through Shobu’s chest; her hot blood mixed with the rainwater, spilling onto the dirty deck.

Shobu saw clearly the figure wrapped in bandages up close.

She saw a bright red eye.

Then, with a shove, Shobu plunged into the sea, quickly sinking below.

Lei Ting walked into the cabin, paying no attention to whatever was beneath the sea surface.

Shobu sank into the icy seawater, where the pain of her wounds seemed trivial.

As the light from above gradually dimmed, she suddenly felt a wave of warmth.

In her fading consciousness, Shobu saw a massive dark shape slowly rising from the ocean floor.

The tremendous dark figure enveloped everything, embraced everything.

As more people fell into the water, the shadow wrapped around each of them, and its color grew even darker and deeper.

When the shadow touched the bottom of the ship, something strange happened.

Lu Ban saw the half-sunken warship, attacked by Laika, explode with a loud bang.

In the next moment, the seawater around the ship boiled violently, countless black tentacles rising from the ocean floor, ensnaring the ship firmly, and dragging it down into the sea before anyone could react.

The turbulent waves made it impossible for anyone to stand steady; Lu Ban’s boat, taking advantage of the chaos, tried to flee, but the shadow’s reach had already spread across the entire sea area.

“This is a disaster.”

As Lu Ban said this, he gripped Amber tightly.

Then, countless tentacles rose from the sea, treating all ships alike, whether they were from Amber’s family or the Great Shrine of Harmony Island, dragging them all into the water.
