Chapter 338 - 338 337. Knocked down with one shot_1

Chapter 338: 337. Knocked down with one shot_1 Chapter 338: 337. Knocked down with one shot_1 Amber was communicating.

Lu Ban could feel that the shrine maiden was in communion with this world.

On her face, her exposed arms, and around her neck, some dazzling, dark patterns began to spread.

These patterns were filled with evil, filth, resentment, and madness, a single glance was enough to drive one to the brink of losing their sanity.

And such complex and polluted patterns were spreading from Amber’s chest towards her limbs.

Having seen much, Lu Ban recognized at a glance, this was pollution.

Or rather, it was mutation brought about by pollution.

These profane patterns were the result of contamination while Amber communicated with this world.

As she spoke with the world, the world also responded to her.

It was like when Lu Ban sang to the Evil God, the Evil God would sing back to Lu Ban.

Communication and communion are never one-sided.

Even a lack of response is a response in itself.

In such case, when the world contaminated by filth hears its own words echoed back, it leads to pollution seeking them out.

Despite this, Amber showed no sign of stopping her chant-like murmuring.

She made the sunlight pierce through the dark clouds, calmed the stormy waves and deflected the oncoming cannonballs, Lu Ban saw that Amber’s fingertips had withered, much like a tree dead from rot, showing a ghastly and nauseating state.

Lu Ban had not seen Red Leaf use Word Spirit before, perhaps she had, but it was difficult to say in her condition who was corrupting whom.

Hence, seeing Amber’s condition, he was somewhat surprised.

Is this how the shrine maidens of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island resolved the filth?

Without giving Lu Ban much time to ponder, he saw a mass of fog drifting toward here amidst the storm.

The form of this gray mist was familiar, and Lu Ban quickly recognized that it belonged to the Bandaged People.

“Speaking of which, could it be that among this invasion there are Bandaged People?”

Lu Ban saw the mist head for the window, and he quickly pulled Amber back into the room.

His hand passed through the silk fabric of her clothes, touching a body that was emaciated and frail.

Lu Ban did not dwell on it, lifting his left hand where “Testament” materialized.

The mist rapidly took shape, forming a large humanoid figure.

Its body was primarily made of gray fog encapsulated by winding bandages, with a single ominous red eye emitting an ill omen.

In its hand was a dull gray blade, which under the dimming starlight outside and the distant flashes of lightning and thunder, produced a faint glimmer.

Flash noticed the two individuals, one of whom was clearly his target, the shrine maiden.

The other appeared to be a guard, insignificant.

Suddenly, Flash saw the other party raise a hand; even though it held nothing, a strong sense of danger made Flash instinctively choose to dodge.

But even as he moved away instantly, a kind of indifferent and grand murmur echoed in his mind.

In an instant, the shouts of the sailors below, the sound of the waves, thunder, and rain—all of these noises transformed into that ancient and distant murmuring, roaming within Flash’s consciousness.

He could barely even stand, let alone fight, as his entire form began to disintegrate, his bandages nearly falling off.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Ban fired consecutively, five shots in a row, inscribing the murmuring deep into Flash’s DNA.

Enveloped in bandages, the gray fog around Flash trembled, contracting and expanding continuously, and even flickered red, like those dazzling nebulae.

Along with the murmurs, Flash’s consciousness began to melt, like butter placed on a hot pan, slowly turning to liquid, bubbling, drying up, becoming charred black waste.

Flash’s body collapsed.

The bandages transformed into serpents, spreading tendrils made of countless green wisps of smoke in all directions from their mist-like bodies.

At the same time, a kind of voice emanated from within Flash.

It was a whisper unlike the murmurs Lu Ban carried with him.

These whispers, brimming with more malice and causing irritation and madness, came from the Bandaged People.

This voice was so uncomfortable that even Lu Ban felt uneasy. Amber covered her ears as the Pollution receded from her body. At the same time, blood flowed from her eyes, nostrils, mouth, and ears.

Almost simultaneously, the voice grew louder, acting like a transmitter that set the whole sea ablaze.

Friend and foe alike clutched their ears, and for a moment, the battlefield fell silent.

But Lu Ban knew well this was no good sign.

He didn’t know if it was his Speech Bullet that caused this change in the enemy or if it was a unique defense mechanism of their species.

Lu Ban switched his Speech Bullet, firing a shot that sent the mist creature out of the room and into the sea.

But the murmurs continued unabated, even spreading farther in the water.

Lu Ban picked up Amber, who was somewhat groggy from Flash’s murmurs and the backlash of Pollution, and made his way to the deck.

The people on the ship began to regain their Sanity amidst the murmurs, and Lu Ban, stumbling and struggling, made his difficult way forward.

At this time, his best option was to take Amber to the mercenaries’ dinghy and then quickly flee the area.

He had a feeling that Flash’s murmurs might attract something unwelcome.

Upon reaching the deck, Lu Ban encountered Shobu holding a long sword.

“How is she?”

Seeing Amber unconscious, Shobu asked.

“Polluted. I don’t know if the Shrine Maiden will recover naturally, but it’s apparent she’s lost her fighting strength,” Lu Ban replied.

The enemy warship had come within arm’s reach, and one could even see the tense expressions on the faces of the soldiers holding weapons on the opposite side’s gunwale.

The boarding battle was about to commence.

This ship was riddled with holes and would surely sink before long, even without any interference. It was clear the soldiers aimed to capture Amber.

“Go to our boat, follow the sea chart’s course, and avoid the Pirates and storms,” Shobu said as she discarded her scabbard and gripped her long sword tightly.

The blade of the sword was exceedingly thin, as if it would snap from the resistance of the air if not swung in a Perfect trajectory.

There were inscriptions on the blade, which Lu Ban couldn’t decipher, but he could feel the power radiating from those ancient inscriptions.

Shobu was probably more than just a common mercenary.

Lu Ban had no intention of staying. Escaping with Amber was his top priority.

He made his way to the port side, grabbed the rope with one hand, and with a great leap, jumped onto the nearby mercenary ship.

Being smaller and not the main target, this ship had only been hit by one cannonball and one dud.

Just as he reached the deck, Lu Ban saw the System’s cold and indifferent words formed by lightning amidst the gorgeous curtain of rain.

“Testament” Found invading Chosen by Gods: 1/2

“Testament” Killed invading Chosen by Gods: 1/2

The instant he saw these words, Lu Ban looked out to sea.

He saw a massive shadow covering the entire sea.
