Chapter 332: 331. 【Benevolent Heavenly Father Statue】 (Monthly ticket extra!) _1 Chapter 332: 331. 【Benevolent Heavenly Father Statue】 (Monthly ticket extra!) _1 As the guard began to pray, Lu Ban distinctly heard some kind of murmuring from a foreign domain rising within the warehouse.

However, these voices, though annoying, did not cause any headache or confusion in Lu Ban’s mind.

Compared to the murmuring he had heard before in “The Wisdom of the Fool,” these were child’s play.

“Could it be that my resistance is too high?”

Lu Ban thought to himself.

If one were to start from this point, then the evil deity represented by the divine idol the guard worshipped didn’t seem so dangerous.

Above the blood-like array, a green smoke began to spread.

This smoke, as if it had its own will, crept towards the warehouse’s water and food supplies.

Even Lu Ban could imagine, if these were contaminated by the smoke, then the food and water were bound to become problematic.

In the midst of a long voyage, if logistical support were compromised, then despair and chaos would surely follow.

Lu Ban saw that two bags of supplies near the array were infected by the green smoke, slightly swelling up, and a barrel of water was penetrated by the smoke, seeming to produce the sound of bubbles.

However, the smoke did not continue to spread, only contaminating a small area.

The guard worshipped the array for a while longer, then packed up the divine idol, ready to leave.

Lu Ban decisively struck the back of his head with a crowbar, rendering the guard completely unconscious.

First, he moved the contaminated bags of food and the barrel of water out, and upon opening the bags of food, he smelled a rotten stench.

The water in the barrel was teeming with green algae, emitting a foul odor.

Just taking a couple sniffs, Lu Ban felt as if grass was growing in his nose and throat, seemingly a victim of corrosion.

“Is it possible to propagate disease and the effects of corrosion through this array?”

Lu Ban set these aside, planning to dispose of them at sea later.

Clearly, this guard had either been controlled, tricked, or was inherently bad. He was following the directives of some unclear figures, intending to incite chaos on the ship, and the ultimate result would certainly be Amber’s life.

Since that was the case…

Lu Ban took out the divine idol and observed it carefully, feeling an odd sense of familiarity.

He flipped through the Silent Department Store catalog but couldn’t find a match.

“Was this exchanged by someone?”

Lu Ban quickly considered more.

Firstly, if this item was exchanged by a Chosen by Gods from the Silent Lands, then Lu Ban should have a companion, as the Silent Lands hadn’t yet shown any contradictory situation and wouldn’t instruct two teams to pursue completely opposite goals.

But Lu Ban could vaguely remember that this statue should be the “Benevolent Heavenly Father Statue,” an item from the Wasteland that could communicate with divine beings because of its low price, so he remembered it well.

Therefore, its disappearance from the Silent Department Store and reappearance in the hands of Lu Ban’s adversary was self-explanatory.

It’s likely that a Chosen by Gods from the Silent Lands had exchanged it, then encountered an adversary from the enemy’s faction and was killed, leaving the statue behind.

“So, the opposing invader has already set its sights on this place.”

Lu Ban strongly suspected that the adversary might belong to the faction currently in control of the Great Shrine of Harmony Island, which would allow them to drive so many people and even use such an item to weaken the fleet’s defenses.

When there was no longer enough fresh water or food aboard the ship, even the most loyal guards began to wonder whether they should remain faithful to their masters, as the majority of mutinies at sea stem from survival crises.

Lu Ban felt that it could not go on like this.

He placed the Divine Idol onto the Array and then, imitating the guard he saw earlier, uttered a prayer.

A moment later, the blood-stained Array emitted a faint red glow, and Lu Ban heard layers of illusory murmurs all around him.

Amidst these murmurs, an indifferent and grand voice came through.

“What is it?”

Meanwhile.

About twenty nautical miles from the Shrine Maiden Amber’s flagship, on a warship.

A figure wrapped in bandages, as if severely wounded, was sitting cross-legged in the center of an array painted with cinnabar dye that bore a sense of madness.

“Didn’t I just bestow blessings? Why are you seeking me out again?”

His name, in the language of this world, was Lei Ting, and as one of the two Chosen by Gods participating in this mission, Lei Ting had, upon arriving in this world, been summoned by a man dressed in luxurious silk garments.

Though he found the people of this Foreign Domain ugly and fragile, Lei Ting maintained a certain decorum for the sake of the mission.

The man had asked him to assassinate someone, and Lei Ting was already well informed about the specifics of his task.

Their target was a Shrine Maiden named Amber.

The supreme ruler of this world seemed to be the Shrine Maidens, or rather, the nobles from the families that the Shrine Maidens hailed from. These Shrine Maidens could effectively resist the Pollution of this world, and now Amber, being a particularly powerful Shrine Maiden, was poised to inherit the Great Shrine of Harmony Island. If she succeeded, it would undoubtedly take much more time for the Corrosion to spread to other regions.

To ensure his own survival, Lei Ting had no choice but to complete various tasks in this Foreign Domain, and after witnessing those brutal and terrifying things, he had long since hardened his heart.

What’s more, for the survival of his own race when those great Divine Beings gradually awoke and returned, Lei Ting had to be cold-blooded without mercy.

In this world, his role seemed to be that of an Assassin, and Lei Ting excelled at precisely these sorts of methods.

In a previous mission, Lei Ting had killed a human and obtained a Divine Statue from him. According to Lei Ting’s interpretation, this Divine Statue seemed to connect with a Divine Being from another realm that was sealed and restricted, and Lei Ting’s race itself possessed a far superior understanding of seals and the like compared to others from different realms.

Thus, Lei Ting altered the Divine Statue, using the power of the god whose whereabouts were unknown, to transform it into a communication device that could converse with him through special means.

Moreover, the Divine Statue itself harbored the powers of corruption and plague. With a specific method of prayer, it could bring down a green mist capable of decaying steel.

Under such circumstances, Lei Ting’s plan was quite simple.

Using his Extraordinary Powers and artifacts, he would make someone on the ship get a hold of this Divine Statue and pray at the beginning of the long voyage.

In this way, before long, all the food on the ship would become polluted, and when the sailors could no longer bear it and started to mutiny, Lei Ting would just need to go and collect their heads.

Originally, everything was proceeding smoothly; the man had prayed under Lei Ting’s mental influence, which led to the spread of the plague under his direction.

But why suddenly has the connection been made again?

Lei Ting found it odd and listened carefully.
