I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 326 - 326 325. Cleaner_1
Chapter 326: 325. Cleaner_1 Chapter 326: 325. Cleaner_1 Lu Ban felt as though his head was being kicked around like a madly bouncing ball, his brain shaking with the overflow of countless snippets of knowledge and nonsensical mutterings, as if in the next moment, his skull would be unable to bear the burden and explode.
Lu Ban saw the myriad stars above, among which the brightest formed a strange pattern, resembling some colossal entity. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was not an illusion.
Those stars were indeed parts of the gargantuan creature, whose body spanned across millions of light-years. They, or rather, It, slumbered within, shifting position only slightly over billions of years, much like a human turning over in their sleep.
When he realized this, Lu Ban’s ears were once again filled with a cacophony of mumbling voices, a disordered chorus as if from countless worlds.
“…water, I need water, it’s so strange, I’ve drunk so much water, why do I still feel thirsty, no, don’t stop me, I need to drink, give me water, give me water…”
“…it killed my mother first, when that long thing, like a straw, pierced into my mother’s ear, I knew, it was all over, in less than a minute, her eyes rolled back, her body withered away, I knew, I knew, it would be my turn next…”
“…she is not any hope, she’s a calamity, everything is coming for her, have you seen her face at night, it is, it is…ahhh, don’t come near, don’t come near…”
“…it’s strange, when we found the body, he was missing both eyes and half his liver, his body looked as if something had pried it open, all his ribs turned outward, I know it’s a bit impolite to say, but to me, it looked like a blooming flower…”
“…everyone who has seen this painting has gone mad, I advise you not to unveil it, yes, its former owner, a singer, committed suicide the day after acquiring the painting, hanging herself from the chandelier in the hall, naked, covered only in blood from an unknown source…”
“…eyes, I’m sure of it, I saw eyes, right there on his body, on the chair, right there, on your body, no, don’t come near me, I want to poke these eyes out, I want to drive them all away, all away…”
In the midst of what seemed like a tsunami of polluted gales, Lu Ban could only faintly sense that he was bleeding.
Even the grass within his body couldn’t stem the flow of blood bursting from all over Lu Ban, he collapsed to the ground with a thud, devoid of even the instinctive twitching, as if frozen in death.
Black and grey smoke swirled around Lu Ban, yet he remained immobile.
A few strands of hair peeked out from under the bed, an eye watching the unmoving Lu Ban.
Suddenly, grass sprouted from every wound on Lu Ban’s body.
The grass voraciously absorbed his blood, growing rapidly as if nourished by ambrosia, quickly reaching heights above three feet.
A mournful sound of an erhu drifted from an indeterminate building, its unskilled practice tune oddly complementing Lu Ban’s situation.
Pitter-patter—
Laika ran into the room from the living room. Upon seeing Lu Ban, enveloped by the plants, it suddenly melted.
It took only a second for the Corgi to transform into a monstrous figure made of flesh and blood. The moment Hunter revealed its true face, Lu Ban’s room fell eerily silent.
Hunter approached Lu Ban, extending two tentacles to gently rub Lu Ban’s head.
Instantly, the grass on Lu Ban trembled as if swept by a gale, rustling loudly before rapidly withering.
Lu Ban twitched, and awoke.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw a massive eye surrounded by tentacles staring at him, accompanied by the sound of squirming flesh.
“Thank you.”
Lu Ban uttered his gratitude.
He got to his feet.
Looking around, he saw his blood had stained the entire room.
“Cleaning this up is going to be difficult.”
Lu Ban thought for a moment, reached for his phone, and looked up the number for a local cleaning company.
He made the call, and a man answered.
“Hello, Jiangcheng Jiaran Housekeeping Services, how can I help you?”
“Oh, it’s like this, I need cleaning at my place, just one room that’s stained, bed sheets, quilt, that sort of thing.”
Lu Ban explained the situation.
“Could you tell us what kind of stains these are so that we can prepare the appropriate cleaning agent?”
The person on the other end asked.
“It’s blood.”
After Lu Ban finished speaking, he could hear the person on the other end visibly pause, as if they had bumped into something.
“…Let me confirm, are you saying that both the quilt and the bed sheets in the room are stained with blood?”
Lu Ban wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he heard another dialing sound on the phone, though the beeping was very short, as if it was only three tones.
“That’s right, because there was a lot of bleeding, even the mattress is stained with blood. It’s quite cold now, changing the mattress would be too much trouble. Oh, do you provide wall cleaning services as well?”
Lu Ban answered truthfully.
“We do, we do.”
The person on the other end replied repeatedly.
“What about the fee?”
Lu Ban asked again.
“For an entire room, our fee is seventy an hour, and it will probably take two to three hours.”
The person replied.
“That’s a bit expensive… Maybe I should check with another company.”
Lu Ban felt that seventy per hour was just too much. If worse came to worse, he could wash it himself.
“…Um, I’ll hold him steady… Ah, wait, sir, I just remembered, since it’s your first time, we can offer a discount. We can give a discount of… fifty percent per hour!”
The person seemed as if they had just finished talking to someone else and quickly picked up the receiver.
“Fifty percent off? That’s not bad. When can you come?”
Lu Ban felt this company was quite conscientious, offering a fifty percent discount to first-time customers. Thirty-five per hour seemed acceptable.
Although Lu Ban had a lot of money, his haggling over the price was not because he was stingy. He believed that everything in this world should be worth what it was paid for, like cleaning. Seventy per hour was obviously overpriced; if such a housekeeping service could still find customers, then those companies charging fifty per hour would be at a loss.
It was in order not to shortchange any effort that Lu Ban bargained.
Having given his address to the other end, Lu Ban went to the restroom to wash his face.
After a short wait, Lu Ban heard a knock on the door.
“Please open the door, the cleaning service has arrived.”
Lu Ban opened the door and immediately saw a cleaning person in blue clothing, followed by three police officers.
“Don’t move!”
The police shouted.
