I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 301 - 301 300. New Business Opportunity_1
Chapter 301: 300. New Business Opportunity_1 Chapter 301: 300. New Business Opportunity_1 Lu Ban followed the merman and the bandaged people into the engine room.
This was the control center powering the cruise ship, and it was also equipped with various electronic communication devices. To start the ship, control had to be established here.
The place was much dimmer, and beyond the light from the last window was sheer darkness.
“Never be in absolute darkness,” was the advice Lu Ban had received from Feng Yu.
“What kind of monster is in the darkness?”
Lu Ban asked.
“A unique creature, which you can call a Shadow Demon or Shadow Eater. They only move in complete darkness, not because they fear sunlight; in fact, these monsters don’t die even if exposed to sunlight. They have a special way of existing,”
Feng Yu explained, still shaken.
“Once they are perceived by a being with a certain level of intelligence, they appear as shadows and cannot move, be damaged, or be killed. Simply put, when you see them, they are just a cluster of shadow, but once they disappear from your sight, they become the most sensitive creatures in the world.”
“But if it touches me, it’s also being perceived, right?”
Lu Ban pursued the question.
“Yes, when a Shadow Demon touches another creature, it too becomes an indestructible shadow. Therefore, their hunting method is to move in packs, swiftly enveloping their prey when it’s not paying attention, completely isolating it from the outside world, and then they wait for the prey to die before resuming their normal state to feast,”
Feng Yu elaborated.
“When I boarded this ship, I wasn’t aware of the Shadow Demons and almost got completely surrounded by them; I had to abandon part of my body just to escape.”
“Part of your body…”
Lu Ban recalled the enormous mouth on Feng Yu’s chest. Speaking of which, just what was that thing?
“Because I lost part of my body, I had to eat something else to recuperate, and what you saw is that something.”
Once again, Feng Yu read the questions lingering in Lu Ban’s mind.
“Those things you ate, were they tasty?”
Lu Ban was genuinely curious.
“…The taste was average, not something you would want to eat if you could help it.”
Feng Yu had not expected Lu Ban to take a peculiar interest in such matters.
“Bring me some next time. I haven’t tried anything like that before. The rat I ate last time was actually quite good. I think, things from the Foreign Domain must contain elements not found in our world, they must have a unique taste.”
Lu Ban was already scheming on how to consume those creatures.
“I’m thinking that if these things from the Foreign Domain are brought into our world, wouldn’t that be a form of Pollution? If humans ate them, similar elements would reside in their bodies, effectively contaminating them, right? If we can find some safe and reliable ingredients with no side effects to promote in this world, wouldn’t the world’s level of Pollution rise rapidly?”
Suddenly, he sniffed out a new business opportunity.
“Moreover, these things can be promoted easily after appearing in movies as part of reality-based merchandise, serving as advertising. And the profits could be used to expand production. Even if they require soil or an ecosystem from the Foreign Domain, I can employ tools to have Shia and Cui Siter look after it.”
“…”
Feng Yu was somewhat speechless.
“You should focus on solving the problem at hand first,”
“I shouldn’t need to go in there, should I?”Lu Ban asked.
His goal at most was to prevent these people from breaking the Seal. Since the Shadow Demons were guarding the engine room, if these people went in, they certainly wouldn’t be able to come out alive. Hence, all Lu Ban had to do was guard the entrance, right?
Feng Yu had fallen for the trap initially because he was unaware of the situation, but Lu Ban, with complete knowledge of the facts, could easily avoid it.
“No, it won’t do. As long as this ship is here, similar Chosen by Gods will continue to appear. We might be prepared this time, but we might not be here the next. We must completely resolve this situation.”
Feng Yu said.
“Continue to appear?”
After Lu Ban posed the question, he quickly came to a realization.
The Silent Lands can send people to any point in time within a Foreign Domain, so this storm must be the same.
The appearance of this city has led to the typhoon, and during the typhoon’s duration, countless Chosen by Gods may come here to try to break the Seal.
After all, even without Lu Ban, this mission cannot be said to be easy. With its [Metamorphosis] difficulty, it’s certain that some Chosen by Gods will perish here or entire squads will be annihilated.
Therefore, their Divine Beings will keep throwing Chosen by Gods in, letting them attempt to clear the mission.
As Lu Ban considered, he vaguely grasped some key information.
“Wait a second, why drop them onto this ship instead of the Island? The ship seems very important… is it because of the scenario?”
Lu Ban watched the two enter the engine room, disappearing into the darkness. He stood at the door, pondering under the corridor’s sunlight.
“Even with Silence, it can’t just randomly place people at any point in time or location. It also has to follow certain Rules?”
Feng Yu did not respond, apparently thinking, apparently hesitating.
“No matter which mission, the starting point of time is always abrupt, and there is always some time and distance from the core of the mission. Does this imply that the current situation must form a pattern for the Silent Lands to be able to send us over?”
Lu Ban’s thoughts grew clearer.
It’s like a game.
In RPG games, players are not normally thrown directly in front of a BOSS upon entering the game. They are usually given time to level up and fight monsters. However, the missions in the Silent Lands are a bit different. Most Chosen by Gods are under strict time constraints without spare time to level up. The way they enter the missions is roughly how they’ll be upon completion.
The missions of the Silent Lands are more like a scene, a scene without beginning or end, where the elements of the scenario are fixed. The only difference is in the Chosen by Gods entering it.
These Divine Beings put Chosen by Gods into the scenario, assigning them tasks, letting them achieve the objectives. If they fail, they send others until success is achieved.
Moreover, Lu Ban suspected that these scenarios might not even be real histories of the dream talk but could just be projections, simulations.
After singling out a segment of a scene, they’d place the Chosen by Gods in it, over and over until success is reached, then overwrite this successful instance as the true history.
The reason for such trouble, Lu Ban swiftly thought of an answer.
That is, these scenes do not simply appear out of nowhere, directly fabricated, but are recreated following certain Rules.
For instance, in this Temple, perhaps this ship is a necessary event. The Chosen by Gods must set off from the Island for the mission to proceed.
Thinking this way, the Star Cluster’s accident might also be the doing of Chosen by Gods. The key individuals’ inconsistent actions in the mouths of others may be because when the event took place, they were replaced by other Chosen by Gods!
As for why these scenarios could not be created even by the Divine Beings, and must be replicated as they originally were, Lu Ban thought of the exploration of the mission.
The missions in the Silent Lands have an exploration setting, encouraging Chosen by Gods to explore beyond the mission objectives. Therefore, if these scenarios were all set up by these Divine Beings, they would have no reason not to know what’s inside their own scenarios.
Making the connection here, Lu Ban could only come to one conclusion.
That is, these scenarios were initially constructed or harvested by some existence beyond certain Divine Beings.
The Silent Lands, as well as other Chosen by Gods, are all for the exploration of these scenarios to gain certain secrets.
And as is well known, in a Foreign Domain, knowledge represents Pollution.
The intelligence and information obtained within these missions are all severe Pollution for the Chosen by Gods!
But those great existences that place the Chosen by Gods in scenarios could acquire corresponding knowledge through them.
This, perhaps, is the true purpose of the Silent Lands!
