I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 294 - 294 293. Double Room_1

Chapter 294: 293. Double Room_1 Chapter 294: 293. Double Room_1 The original inhabitants of Pohnpei Island are Micronesians, and like many other natives of the numerous islands across the Pacific Ocean, they have dark brown skin, curly hair, and tall statures. Their ancestors migrated to these islands from Southeast Asia and other places four thousand years ago, forming a unique cultural atmosphere.

In a restaurant on the island, Lu Ban was enjoying a local tuna dish.

Tuna, being rich and tasty, could be eaten raw, seared, or boiled into soup. The way it was prepared on the island was quite primitive, usually grilled over a fire and eaten with fragrant leaves. When in doubt, grill meat, and once the meat was grilled, all was good.

However, even after grilling, the fatty tuna still had a much higher fat content than common fish, and Lu Ban stopped after eating two large pieces due to its richness.

“Woof!”

At his feet, the corgi circled around him. Normally, pets weren’t allowed in the restaurant, but Lu Ban had been given so much by the restaurant and there were no other customers, so the owner consentarily allowed the dog in.

Lu Ban put a piece of the fatty tuna onto a plate and placed it on the ground.

The corgi wiggled its short tail over to the plate, looked at the food, and then up at Lu Ban.

“Go ahead.”

Lu Ban said.

Only then did the corgi lower its head and start wolfing down the food.

“Quite obedient,”

Feng Yu commented.

She ate her tuna with elegance, and although Lu Ban knew that using such a word to describe Feng Yu might be a bit too much, her movements and posture when eating could only be described as elegant.

Perhaps if Lu Ban saw how Feng Yu dealt with the chunks of meat on the airplane, he would also associate her with elegance.

“Hunter can take us through time, does that mean it could allow us to return directly to a time before the accident happened on the Star Cluster?”

Lu Ban suddenly wondered, watching the corgi devour its food.

“Hunter is inherently sensitive to those who travel through time, a monster that hunts such people. You want it to take you through time? Wishful thinking,”

Feng Yu put down her knife and fork.

“To travel through time, apart from leveraging the power of Silence, there is indeed another way, but trust me, you wouldn’t want to try it.”

“What way?”

Lu Ban asked curiously.

“In the Foreign Domain, the Foreign Domain that you do not know about, there is a race of beings that live by stealing others’ time. Once captured by those creatures, your time can be stolen for as short as a few seconds or as long as one to three years, while you are transported to a random point in the past. That’s one way to travel through time,”

Feng Yu explained seriously.

“It seems like this knowledge hasn’t caused any Pollution?”

Lu Ban listened to Feng Yu’s explanations but didn’t feel any change in himself.

“The Pollution level of these pieces of knowledge is slightly lower than what you’ve been exposed to. You’ve survived an encounter with one from the Pleiades and come out unscathed, so this sort of knowledge can’t Corrode you anymore.”

Feng Yu answered.

“Is there more knowledge like this? I have plenty of time to listen slowly,”

Lu Ban immediately said.

After all, since he wouldn’t be Polluted, there was no harm in listening.

“…”

Feng Yu was speechless.

Lu Ban’s behavior of shearing wool wherever he went was truly rare.

“Let’s not talk about these things for now, having Hunter with us will make our next moves much simpler.”

Feng Yu decided to ignore Lu Ban taking advantage of the situation.

“By the way, what are we going to do next?”

Lu Ban only knew that they had to come to Pohnpei Island, but the Star Cluster had already sunk, and tourists and crew had left the place. Did they really have to dive underwater to explore the wreckage of the Star Cluster?

He himself possessed the ability of Underwater Breathing, able to dive as long as he wanted, but was it necessary to come all this way to confirm that?

Moreover, what Feng Yu initially mentioned was showing Lu Ban the deeper secrets of the Foreign Domain—what was that all about?

“In two days, at night, this island should undergo some changes.”

Feng Yu replied.

The flights came every three days, so wanting to arrive at Pohnpei Island on time in two nights meant that now was indeed the closest opportunity.

After having lunch, Lu Ban and Feng Yu checked into the island’s only hotel and got a double room.

“So, why is it a room with a double bed?”

Lu Ban walked into the room, somewhat puzzled as he looked at Feng Yu, feeling that the hotel owner’s gaze was a bit odd when he looked at him.

“To deal with any potential issues, it’s best if we act together. If we each had separate rooms and encountered danger at night, we wouldn’t be able to look after each other.”

Feng Yu answered, while putting down his luggage.

“If you feel shy, you can let me know in advance, and I’ll step aside.”

“?”

Lu Ban thought that was something he should be saying.

The two rested in the hotel for a while and went out to find food in the evening. After dinner, the sky was completely dark, and the stars that can’t be seen in the big city were now adorning the pitch-black sky. Lu Ban looked around but couldn’t spot any familiar constellations. His eyes then turned toward the center of the island.

There, thousands of artificial islands made up the massive Nan Madol Ruins; those huge and weighty stones now revealed an eerie green hue under the starlight. According to science, this is because the stones contain a component of fluorite; the past kings wanted to create an underworld realm for themselves, so they used such stones.

But in the night, such ruins appeared especially bizarre.

Those buildings, either collapsed or broken, emitted a faint glow among the trees, like cities for the dead. In fact, most of the remaining structures were also tombs, where the remains of once supreme kings were stored after their deaths. However, this place was the frontline of the Pacific battleground during the war, and after being looted by invaders, the entire island was ravaged by war, with even the burial sites of the highest authority not spared from destruction.

In the following two days, Lu Ban and Feng Yu examined the ruins of Pohnpei Island. These ruins didn’t have the mythical curse powers spoken of in legends. Although it’s still unclear how exactly these buildings were constructed, compared to the Foreign Domain’s wonders carved by mighty powers, these structures that merely required time accumulated by mankind were rather ordinary.

Of course, although the two slept in the same room, nothing like the favorable scenes often seen in movies occurred.

It wasn’t even close; Lu Ban doubted that if he really was so unfortunate to witness Feng Yu’s ‘beneficial’ scene, it would probably be an indescribable horror scene filled with eyeballs and tentacles.

As for whether it was a benefit, he wasn’t clear, but he did feel quite fortunate.

As for Hunter, Lu Ban named it “Laika” as a tribute to the little dog that made significant contributions to humanity. Laika was very well-behaved, not requiring daily walks and seemingly no need for toilet breaks either.

However, every night, it would turn into black mist for a while and disappear, returning after more than half an hour looking as if it had its fill of food and drink.

Lu Ban didn’t know what it ate, but he hoped it wouldn’t hurt its stomach.

Two days later, what surprised Lu Ban was that the previously calm and sunny Pohnpei Island suddenly became overcast.

He went to the reception, where the television with a disrupted signal was broadcasting news.

A typhoon was coming.
