I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 293 - 293 292.Hunter_1

Chapter 293: 292.Hunter_1 Chapter 293: 292.Hunter_1 It was as if he was cocooned, Lu Ban watched the countless eyes and chunks of flesh surrounding him and adjusted the “Testament” in his hand to a state of readiness, prepared to burst out at any moment if anything went wrong. Although this could potentially damage the plane, it was better than being directly eaten by this flesh and blood.

But just as Lu Ban was preparing to escape, all the eyes disappeared.

The flesh suddenly became quiet.

A gigantic eye appeared in front of Lu Ban.

The eye was about the size of his head, its sclera filled with blood vessels, and its dark yellow slit pupil reflecting Lu Ban’s face.

Looking at this eye, Lu Ban suddenly felt a trace of familiarity.

“…Do you know each other?”

Lu Ban glanced at his invisible friend by his side, then back at the mass of flesh.

Suddenly, all the flesh contracted into a single lump and fell to the ground.

Lu Ban first checked on Feng Yu’s condition and saw that she was standing in place. The flesh that had been around her had disappeared, with no indication of where it had gone.

Only, at the corner of Feng Yu’s mouth, there seemed to remain some residue of the flesh.

Lu Ban decided not to ponder how it had ended up there.

He looked down at the lump of flesh.

The oval-shaped lump suddenly trembled, then sprouted four short legs.

As the four short legs propped themselves up, Lu Ban saw a large eye emerge on the flesh, and then countless tentacles stretched out around the eye, resembling a lion’s mane.

The lump of flesh raised its short legs and rubbed against Lu Ban, twirling around the hem of his trousers.

This scene was strikingly similar to that of a Corgi with a plump buttock.

“?”

Feng Yu looked over at Lu Ban with a question mark popping up above her head.

“It seems to be quite interested in me,” Lu Ban explained.

The creature was similar to his invisible friend. Lu Ban theorized that perhaps they were of the same kind? Or had the grandiose gibberish that Lu Ban had uttered led the creature to believe he was its true master?

He tentatively touched the creature’s head.

The tactile sensation was sticky and warm, resembling putty, but it didn’t dirty his hand.

The creature then flopped over, legs in the air, and wriggled its body as if it were a dog asking for belly rubs.

“I’m not sure what’s up with this fellow.”

Lu Ban said as he stroked its belly, and the creature made a purring sound. Even the tentacles beside its eye trembled slightly, seemingly in pleasure.

“…It’s my first time seeing a Hunter treat someone like this.”

Feng Yu was equally incredulous.

“Hunter?”

Lu Ban was curious; from Feng Yu’s tone, it seemed she was familiar with this creature.

“Yes, these creatures are pets of a powerful Outer God, adept at navigating through time. As long as there is a sufficiently narrow space, they will manifest there. Even the power to travel to foreign domains like yours is mostly borrowed from some of their authority.”

She approached the creature, watching it with a measure of caution.

“Hunters especially enjoy hunting those who traverse and disrupt time, such as those Chosen by Gods, or travelers like myself. It appears this place is not just weird but also teeming with Hunters.”

“Wait, the master of these Hunters you mentioned…”

The grandiose gibberish Lu Ban had recorded came from the Pleiades, which supposedly imprisoned a powerful and Indescribable Divine Being. So, could it be that these Hunters are connected to that Divine Being?

“I’m not clear on that either. In fact, involving this level of beings, touching upon their true names and hidden knowledge, the Pollution is rather severe. Even getting a glimpse of fragments of their language would cause my current body to collapse immediately. I’d advise you not to inquire further,” said Feng Yu with a helpless smile.

“So what do we do now? It doesn’t seem like this guy wants to leave.”

Lu Ban stood up, and the Hunter also rolled over and got up, locking gazes with Lu Ban’s airy friend, communicating like old friends who hadn’t seen each other for years.

“If it has no malice towards you, you can keep it by your side.”

After some thought, Feng Yu said.

“I have a feeling it’s going to be a big help in our exploration to come.”

“Keep it by my side?”

Lu Ban looked at those blinking big eyes.

Keeping this thing by his side would scare the others, wouldn’t it?

It seemed to understand Lu Ban’s thoughts, though, as the Hunter immediately went under the seat, turned into a puff of smoke in that cramped space, and then the monstrous creature was gone. Although Lu Ban couldn’t see it, he knew, just like his airy friend, that the Hunter was right there.

As the Hunter vanished, Lu Ban felt the surroundings gradually becoming more noisy.

“Sir, is there anything I can help you with?”

A flight attendant politely inquired in front of Lu Ban.

He noticed that the economy-class passengers around him had returned, and the dirty chairs and cabin interior had also disappeared. Everything had returned to normal.

It seemed they had left that bizarre area.

Lu Ban exchanged a glance with Feng Yu sitting beside him and went straight back to first class.

“I thought oddities could only be resolved by following the Rules, what’s going on here?”

Lu Ban asked.

“Oddities are based on Rules. In the space where an oddity exists, indeed, survival depends on adhering to Rules. Although the specifics of the oddity on this plane are unclear, as long as the flight ends, the oddity will disappear.”

Feng Yu glanced outside the window.

There, amidst the vast ocean, a green island emerged.

Although the flight should have had much longer to go, they had inexplicably already reached their destination.

“The Hunter can travel through time, so when encountering the Hunter, time also becomes irrelevant.”

Feng Yu returned to his seat.

“Pack up your things and get ready to disembark.”

Just as Feng Yu said, the flight landed safely and without incident. As soon as he disembarked, Lu Ban was hit by a blast of hot, moist air from the Pacific Island, where it was clearly already midsummer, and only under the shadow of tropical plants was there a hint of coolness.

From the airport, one could directly see the port, where many small boats were docked. The fishermen here were famous for catching tuna, and seventy percent of the world’s tuna came from here, tempting Lu Ban to satisfy his hunger first, and fill his stomach.

Looking in another direction, one could see the grand relics hidden among the forests.

Those relics were scattered around, looking lonely and quiet with a certain primitive and odd beauty. Even in sunlight, they appeared rather eerie.

Lu Ban suddenly felt an itch at his feet.

He looked down to find a short-legged Corgi that had appeared by his feet out of nowhere.

“Could this be…”

Lu Ban was puzzled until he saw the Corgi lift its head; on its round head suddenly opened a huge eye surrounded by tentacles, gazing at him expectantly.

“…”

Lu Ban averted his eyes.
