I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 209 - 209 208. Named Weird_1

Chapter 209: 208. Named Weird_1 Chapter 209: 208. Named Weird_1 It seemed as though someone stood in the dimly lit corridor.

They wore tattered clothes and held a rusty, blood-dripping dagger in their hand.

Their hair was sparse, and their face bore traces of stitching, with flesh and blood blurred together.

In their right hand, they dragged several chains, the metallic scraping across the floor issuing a fine frictional sound.

Dah—

The corridor lights flickered momentarily, as if the electricals were aging and on the brink of failure.

Dah—

The lights flickered again, and this time, they stayed off a little longer.

When the lights came back on, the figure had moved forward some distance and reached the entrance of the projection hall.

Dah—

Once more the lights went out, and the person disappeared from the corridor.

In the next shot, inside the aisle of the projection hall, the blood still dripping from the knife’s tip, that person was slowly making their way inside.

From the camera angle behind them, one could see the four people seated in the movie theater—Lu Ban and his group.

Zzzt—

Nobody could tell if it was from the movie or inside the projection hall, but a grating sound of chains being dragged echoed eerily.

“!”

Zi Tang instinctively glanced back to confirm, then let out a startled scream and vanished from her seat.

When she reappeared, she was beside Remington, her qipao exposing thighs and a neck marked by chain welts—not mere illusions but accompanied by real, acute pain as if she had just been lashed with iron chains.

The woman couldn’t help but hug her arms and tremble. She looked toward the big screen, only to discover that her own image was making the exact same movements!

“Ah!”

With a trembling, suppressed scream, Zi Tang vanished again from her seat.

This time, she didn’t reappear immediately.

Remington swallowed hard.

“Could it be that even fear and trembling are not allowed…”

He hadn’t anticipated that even such details should not be replicated from the movie.

It was like reading a horror story without showing any signs of fear—how could that be possible?

Even if one isn’t scared in their mind, the human body naturally reacts instinctively to sudden occurrences. It’s an instinct; who can control themselves?

Moreover…

“Ah!”

A scream came from the row in front of Remington. He saw Zi Tang back in her seat, covered in blood. Her qipao was in tatters, the exposed skin as if it had been viciously whipped by chains. The once graceful figure was now horrific and fiendish.

Remington suppressed his emotions. He, too, heard the sound of chains. He saw that in the movie, the humanoid monster with the dagger had come to his side.

It seemed unable to see clearly and was only hunting by its sense of smell.

Approaching from behind Remington, the creature stopped.

Remington fought the urge to turn around and confirmed, instead staring intensely at the cinema screen.

The creature moved its head around, then turned in Remington’s direction.

It came closer.

Cold sweat broke out on Remington’s forehead.

The sound of chains told him nothing—he could not tell if the creature was truly behind him or if it was just a deceitful illusion on the screen.

Grasping the armrest tightly with his left hand, Remington’s right hand clenched his own small knife. His whole being was like a bowstring pulled to its limit, at the next moment to either release or snap.

The guy’s head leaned in close, and his breath seemed to be right in Remington’s ear. Remington heard a heartbeat, thumping rapidly, making his own eyes turn bloodshot as blood rushed to his head.

It was close, very close.

Remington felt he could smell the foul stench, the blood mixed with the sour tang of metal, the scent of decay, and the gleaming blade.

In the movie, the monster’s head was right beside Remington; all he had to do was turn his face slightly to see it.

The Remington in the film was about to turn his head, and he held back his nervousness with wide eyes as he watched the monster’s blade being lifted, slicing towards his throat.

“Don’t move…”

Lu Ban had just issued a warning when Remington swung the knife in his hand, but didn’t feel anything upon impact.

“Damn…”

He only had time to curse before he disappeared from his seat.

And at the same time, because Lu Ban had issued the warning, he also disappeared.

Lu Ban was the first to reappear.

Three knife cuts appeared on his chest, cutting through the skin to reveal flecks of flesh, but soon, fresh greenery sprouted from the wounds, covering the ghastly injuries.

“My new clothes.”

Lu Ban felt a bit distressed.

A moment later, Remington reappeared.

He sat beside Zi Tang, looking incredulously at his right hand.

The hand that had held the knife was now all wounds, as if it had been put through a meat grinder and turned a dozen times, the blade and bones, blood vessels, and muscles mixed together, too gruesome to behold.

The pain was so intense it drained Remington’s face pale, and his blood dripped onto the floor with a dull sound.

It was fake just now!

Only then did he truly understand Lu Ban’s warning.

The movie didn’t have a direct impact on reality, nor did it have the power to create monsters. It only relied on atmosphere and fear induced by the screen to make people act accordingly, thus trapping them in its own rules.

Tap tap—

Crisp footsteps echoed in the theater. Lu Ban saw Feng Yu stand up again and walked to the position next to him.

“How bad are your wounds?”

She leaned over to check Lu Ban’s injuries and couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw the grass over them.

“So you really can grow grass.”

“Then why are you unaffected by the rules here?”

Lu Ban was still curious.

Although he knew Feng Yu might be something beyond human, the ease with which she moved still puzzled him.

If Feng Yu wasn’t afraid of these strange creatures, then why stay here? Wouldn’t it be simpler to just take Lu Ban and the others and leave?

Or was this bizarre movie theater Feng Yu’s doing?

“I’ve told you, this place operates by the rules. Even the strange can’t bypass the rules to attack us. Didn’t you see what just happened? It was caused by the movie influencing people’s hearts,” Feng Yu explained with earnest as if she were addressing a foolish son who never heeded repeated lessons.

“Therefore, the rule here is that if you immerse yourself in a horror movie, you’ll encounter the same experiences as in the movie. So, just act as if the horror movie doesn’t exist.”

“Like what I did just now, simply not caring about what was playing in the movie, and I just walked over here on my own. There was nothing in the movie like the scene I made.”

Hearing Feng Yu’s words, Lu Ban suddenly saw the light.

Basically, Lu Ban and the others were trapped in a horror movie; if they followed the developments of a horror movie, they would suffer all sorts of tragic events and eventually die there.

But Lu Ban and the others didn’t have to follow the script of a horror movie.

Lu Ban gradually understood everything.
