I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 207 - 207 206. The Scariest World_1

Chapter 207: 206. The Scariest World_1 Chapter 207: 206. The Scariest World_1 Remington hesitated for a moment, as he hadn’t expected things to change so quickly.

Before he was ready, the mission had already encountered an unexpected twist.

Should he explore this place, or should he wait and see what changes would occur on that screen?

As he was entangled in doubt, Feng Yu suddenly spoke up.

“The movie has started, we’d better find seats. Walking around during the screening could disturb others,” she said, her tone earnest, which caused Remington’s expression to become serious.

“Okay.”

He and Zi Tang took seats by the aisle, with Lu Ban and Feng Yu right behind them.

“If you see anything, tell me,” Remington said to Zi Tang, who was dressed in a cheongsam, while he mysteriously produced two throwing darts tied with string from somewhere and threw them into the wall with a ‘whoosh’ noise, creating a tripwire alarm around him. If anyone tried to get close, Remington would know immediately.

“That’s quite impressive,” Lu Ban couldn’t help but remark.

By now, he had completely figured out that the mission of these two “Chosen by Gods” probably was to survive in this movie theater that had turned into a bizarre space, and they were treating him as an NPC.

As for Feng Yu…

Lu Ban glanced at the woman beside him.

Her smile was bright and beaming, seemingly in high spirits.

The film being projected was one that Lu Ban had never seen before; it started with a young woman hiding in a cramped closet, holding a phone in her hand.

“Is this the police? Please, save me…” she pleaded.

“Hello, please state your current location, and we’ll send someone over to help,” responded the voice on the other end.

“I’m at…” the woman, clearly panicked, provided her location, but then there was silence from the other end of the line.

“Officer? Officer?” the woman asked frantically, her voice low with concern.

But then, an eerie voice came through the phone.

“So… you’re here.”

Boom—

The closet door burst open, and an ugly, ferocious, horrifying face appeared on the big screen, followed by the woman’s scream, the violently shaking closet, and the quiet dripping of fresh blood.

The film’s view suddenly pulled back, and Lu Ban realized that it depicted a scene of a group of people watching a movie.

The terrifying scene they had just seen was actually a scene within the movie being watched in the film.

Watching a horror movie within a movie at a theater – the experience was quite novel.

Lu Ban found it interesting.

However, he noticed that the people watching the movie looked somewhat familiar.

Upon closer examination, Lu Ban recognized that the four on-screen were them.

Remington seemed to have noticed this too, as he quietly gripped a knife in his hand, ready to act.

The scene in the movie darkened, and Lu Ban watched as his on-screen self focused intently on the screen, as if a camera were secretly filming them and presenting the scene synchronously.

Suddenly, Lu Ban saw that next to Zi Tang in the movie, an extra person appeared.

The person sat in the shadow, only their lower half visible, their hand dangling over the armrest, casually leaning.

At this sight, Zi Tang held her breath.

She stared intently at her own image on the movie screen, noticing the neighboring person’s hand move.

Glancing at the armrest with the corner of her eye, Zi Tang didn’t see a trace of that hand.

Could it be fake?

In that moment of relaxation, Zi Tang turned her head instinctively.

She immediately saw a woman with a decayed, rotting cheek and withered hair sitting in the seat next to hers. As Zi Tang turned, the woman slowly turned her head as well.

“Ah—”

The sound lasted only for a brief moment before Zi Tang was pulled away by the eerie woman and instantaneously vanished into the shadows.

“Don’t be hasty.”

Feng Yu held back Lu Ban who was about to step in and help, signaling him to sit down quietly.

Remington’s face turned ashen; he gripped the knife tightly and used all his senses to probe the surroundings.

“This woman, to think that she couldn’t even last this long…”

He suppressed his shaking emotions and forced himself to remain calm.

Remington had been to the Foreign Domain ten times before, and one of those times he encountered a similar realm.

Compared with other worlds, this world didn’t have vicious monsters or powerful Transcendents, but it had some Invisible and intangible oddities that could cause instant death. During that trip to the Foreign Domain, two of his teammates were with him; the three of them entered a facility resembling a school. In the end, only Remington survived until dawn, and the mission was almost a failure, leaving a deep psychological scar on him.

He had since become convinced that this was the most terrifying world.

And yet, what was destined to come had still come.

As Remington focused, he saw that the movie scene changed again.

A figure appeared in the place where Zi Tang had been sitting.

The silhouette was still the same as before, gaunt as if a dried corpse, wearing tattered and filthy clothes, decrepit and soiled.

Remington couldn’t make out the figure’s face through the movie screen. He held the knife in reverse grip, ready to launch an attack, when a hand landed on his shoulder.

“!”

Remington almost turned his head, but the warmth from the palm halted him.

“Do not try to respond to things inside the movie, once you respond, you become part of the movie.”

The man’s voice came from behind Remington. He hesitated for a moment before he understood.

“I understand,” he nodded.

“You figured it out that quickly?”

Feng Yu’s voice was soft; she leaned close to Lu Ban’s ear, her warm breath causing a slight itch in his ear, like a cat nuzzling one’s face.

“I’m battle-hardened, I’ve seen a lot.”

Lu Ban replied and then looked at the real Remington’s side.

The seat there was completely empty, with no one else present.

“As for the other person…”

He looked towards the movie.

The camera angle in the movie shifted, showing only Zi Tang sitting in the chair.

It was evident that she seemed to have moved to a row further in front, frantically looking around before her gaze settled on the big screen.

Zi Tang noticed Remington sitting behind her, as well as Lu Ban and Feng Yu even further back, and she almost turned her head when Remington held her back.

“Don’t turn back, don’t pay attention to the things up there; it’s all fake.”

Remington repeated the words Lu Ban told him.

Zi Tang nodded, trembling.

“It looks like in this mission, all we have to do is watch this movie through, and we should be able to complete the task, as long as we grasp the pattern, it should be relatively simple,” Remington murmured to himself.

At that moment, he saw in the movie, Lu Ban standing up suddenly behind him.

Remington found it strange and turned to look.

A ghastly face appeared before his eyes, and before Remington could even cry out, he was snatched away by that uncanny presence.

Moments later, following the switch of the footage, Remington reappeared in his seat.

Right next to Zi Tang, the two sat side by side once again.

“If they respond, will they be moved forward one row until they reach the first row?”

As Lu Ban contemplated, he saw the face of his and Feng Yu’s figures in the movie slowly coming into view.
