I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords -
Chapter 157 - 157 156. Shark Home Wear_1
Chapter 157: 156. Shark Home Wear_1 Chapter 157: 156. Shark Home Wear_1 Lu Ban didn’t really understand why Qin Tiantian’s first thought was to come to his house to stay.
Did she think he was easy to bully?
Later, he thought about it and realized that, based on this woman’s usual lazy behavior during her live streams, it was more likely that she just didn’t want to walk too far.
No big deal.
Lu Ban’s home environment was now beautiful and scenic, and with many people living together, it was lively. It wouldn’t make much difference to add Qin Tiantian to the mix.
In the afternoon, when Lu Ban heard the doorbell ring, he went to the door.
Through the peephole, he indeed saw Qin Tiantian.
The weather had gotten colder by late October; it was time to start eating male hairy crabs. Qin Tiantian hadn’t continued wearing her usual slippers and short T-shirt style, but rather, she was dressed in… pajamas?
“You came wearing pajamas?”
Lu Ban looked Qin Tiantian up and down.
She was wearing a two-piece shark-style pajama set with a hood on the shirt that, when worn, made her look like a shark, especially with the shark pillow she was holding. It was hard not to think she had a special fondness for sharks.
“What pajamas? This is called home wear! I’m dressed properly underneath!”
Qin Tiantian pulled at her neckline to reveal the T-shirt and nothing at all flight deck underneath.
“Oh.”
“Wow, did you redecorate? The style feels completely different!”
Qin Tiantian walked into the house, looking around. Her eyes quickly landed on the mirror.
“This mirror isn’t quite right; it should be one of those tall, slim ones so I can look thinner.”
She commented.
“If you get any thinner, won’t you turn into a sheet of steel?”
Lu Ban snorted.
“Get lost!”
Qin Tiantian placed the shark pillow on the sofa and sat down next to it, sinking in as if she were some grandpa collapsing into the soft cushions.
“So comfortable, if I ever get a house, I’m going to get a sofa this soft!”
“Wow, and you got the new gaming console? It’s so pricey now because of scalpers!”
“Is this TV 77 inches? No way, I have to see the quality.”
She was like a primary school kid entering a science museum, filled with curiosity.
Watching Qin Tiantian, who was now both physically and mentally resembling a primary schooler, Lu Ban only reminded her,
“Your shark pillow, my friend likes it quite a bit.”
“?”
Qin Tiantian paused and looked at the shark pillow next to her.
Had it moved a bit compared to just a moment ago?
“Those… friends of yours, are they still here?”
Qin Tiantian recalled her previous experiences in Lu Ban’s house.
Although it seemed somewhat scary, it was actually quite scary.
But as long as Lu Ban was around, there seemed to be no danger.
“They’re here, just remember not to stare at the mirror too long, and they’ve gotten used to you. There are just a couple of new ones who are shy; you probably won’t see them,”
Lu Ban said candidly.
“…”
Qin Tiantian began to seriously consider whether she should just go back to her rental apartment, blown up by the malfunctioning drains that made it impossible to bathe or use the toilet.
But since she was already here, going back now would be a loss.
“You can play games in the living room. I bought several of the newly released ones but haven’t had time to play them. You can also stream if you want. I’m going to work now and will call you for dinner later,”
Lu Ban gave her instructions and then returned to his room to continue working.
The living room soon filled with the sound of a game, and it seemed Qin Tiantian was indeed livestreaming on her phone. Every so often, a notification for an “Alipay payment of XX Yuan” chimed in. After an entire afternoon, counting the donations Qin Tiantian thanked people for, including the Admirals’, it seemed she had made a small fortune of nearly a thousand.
That added up to tens of thousands of yuan for a month’s income.
And those donating viewers hadn’t even seen Qin Tiantian’s face.
Virtual broadcasting is ridiculously profitable!
Lu Ban couldn’t help but ponder.
He was still working when he suddenly felt someone’s gaze.
Turning around, he saw Qin Tiantian, dressed in Shark Home Wear, hiding at the doorway, peering inside like a cat ready to cause mischief or observing stealthily.
“If you’re sleepy, you can sleep on the couch.”
Lu Ban said, thinking Qin Tiantian wanted to go to sleep.
“What are you doing?”
Seeing this, Qin Tiantian moved closer to take a look at Lu Ban’s work screen.
“Working.”
Lu Ban said.
He now owned two main computers; one was a specialized machine equipped for various professional software and editing, with a display that had the smallest color deviation and the best resolution and other parameters.
The other one was for daily use like casual web browsing, watching videos, and playing games.
“Is it a new movie?”
Qin Tiantian asked with surprise.
“Yeah, it’s scheduled to premiere at the Yannan University Student Film Festival next month.”
Lu Ban stopped what he was doing and looked at Qin Tiantian.
“Next month??? Will it be ready on time???”
Qin Tiantian was startled and took a half step back.
It seemed she really hadn’t been paying much attention to film news.
After all, she was a woman who could endure livestreaming Apex through the night; movies and such probably seemed too “mainstream” for Qin Tiantian.
“Almost there, right on schedule.”
Lu Ban glanced at Qin Tiantian again.
“I’ve finished the first half. Do you want to see how it turned out?”
“Sure, huh?”
Qin Tiantian instinctively agreed—why pass up a good thing? But then she thought about it. Weren’t all of Lu Ban’s movies horror films? Without going too far back, the most recent online movie she had only watched halfway because she was too scared to continue. The immersive, empathetic horror was simply torture when watched alone.
Of course, afterward, Qin Tiantian recommended that movie to all her friends and family with great enthusiasm!
“Is this new movie of yours scary?”
“Not scary, it’s mainly a suspense film and might be a bit mind-bending,”
Lu Ban replied seriously.
“Oh, oh!”
Qin Tiantian wasn’t entirely convinced by Lu Ban, well aware that this man’s concept of horror differed from the average person’s by a tiny bit. Bracing herself mentally, she sat down in the chair and clicked the play button.
The movie’s opening was different from “The Hundred Poets”; it started with Lu Ban working at his computer, followed by him receiving a parcel. While on the phone, he opened the package, which contained several cassettes.
Rather than immediately thrusting the viewer into peril, like previous videos, this film started at a more relaxed pace. From the opening scene, it was possible to deduce Lu Ban’s profession, work situation, and even catch a glimpse of his personality. Then, through the phone conversation, the story’s background and commission were explained, while visually, Lu Ban was shown opening the parcel and taking out the cassettes, setting up the main storyline without becoming boring.
In the movie, Lu Ban took out one of the cassettes and placed it in the tape recorder, pressing play.
The shot focused only on the tape recorder and hands, creating a sense of mystery and eeriness.
“Today’s work involved the preliminary planning for demolition…”
As soon as the voice from the tape recorder emerged, Qin Tiantian immediately felt guilty, her scalp tingling with the hyper-realistic narration. It brought back unpleasant moments from other horror films she had seen.
She couldn’t help but sit up straight, ready to cover her eyes at any moment, and watched the screen intently.
