I Forged the Myth of the Ancient Overlords
Chapter 154 - 154 153. Interview_1

Chapter 154: 153. Interview_1 Chapter 154: 153. Interview_1 Lu Ban didn’t choose a coffee shop like Moonbucks or Beemile, not because he was worried the Journalist would expect him to pick up the tab, but mainly because the coffee in those places was mediocre at best, and since they were in public, he couldn’t really relax, he saw no need to boost the sales of those pretentious shops.

Instead, he invited the Journalist to his own home.

Fortunately, the Journalist was a guy, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Um?

Why did it feel like there might be a problem?

Never mind.

Lu Ban heard his phone ring and saw it was a call from the Journalist. He answered and directed him upstairs.

The furniture at home had been completely renewed; Lu Ban had gone to the furniture store with his supernatural housemate to buy it, matching their aesthetic. Because of this, the furniture store staff had given Lu Ban strange looks.

“Please, come in, come in.”

Lu Ban saw that the Journalist was a young man about his age, holding equipment much more professional than his own.

“Hello, I’m Wang Qing from ‘Film Report’… Huh?”

The journalist named Wang Qing, as soon as he walked through the door, felt that something was off.

Because in the living room, there was a very large mirror.

This mirror was almost directly facing the wall with the door, positioned above the sofa, covering most of the wall, so it was the first thing one would see upon entering the house.

It was similar to the arrangement in a hair salon – such a mirror could probably make the room appear more spacious, but seeing oneself in the mirror as soon as entering was quite strange.

“This mirror arrangement is quite unique…”

Wang Qing praised, masking his momentary confusion.

“Yeah, it’s because one of my roommates can only exist in a mirror, so I got this one for the living room, so he can watch TV normally.”

Lu Ban was straightforward.

“Roommate? Can only exist in a mirror?”

Wang Qing was somewhat incredulous.

He knew that Lu Ban had started with thrillers and horror videos, and such people often had a not-so-happy childhood or came from backward mountain areas with a strong folk culture, possibly also very superstitious about ghosts and the like.

Therefore, it was normal for them to behave a little oddly at times.

“Yes, please take a seat, have a seat.”

Lu Ban gestured for Wang Qing to sit, but as the journalist was about to do so, Lu Ban raised his hand to stop him.

“Wait a second, you can’t sit there, my air friend is there right now.”

Lu Ban gestured Wang Qing to the other side.

“?”

Wang Qing was completely baffled.

He took a closer look at where he was about to sit. The couch was spotless, with nothing on it. At first, he thought “air friend” was some pet nickname, but now it seemed it was literally air?

Was this guy playing a joke on him?

Wang Qing wondered to himself but obediently sat on the other side.

“Director Lu, for our interview, we don’t need to be very formal, just chatting casually will do.”

He took out his voice recorder and then prepared his camera.

“May I take a picture of you first?”

“No problem.”

Lu Ban sat on the couch, gave it some thought, and decided not to pose, but just sat naturally.

Wang Qing raised the camera, framing Lu Ban in the viewfinder.

Normally, with face tracking mode on, the frame would put a little square around a person’s face to track it, and since there was only Lu Ban in the camera’s view, the square naturally framed his face, focusing the lens on him.

But when Wang Qing looked through the viewfinder, he found that apart from the frame on Lu Ban’s face, there were three other frames.

Those three frames were around Lu Ban, looking as if they were family members standing beside him for a group portrait.

But within those frames, there was nothing but air.

Wang Qing sucked in a breath, quickly rubbed his eyes, and those extra frames disappeared, leaving only Lu Ban’s somewhat stiff smile.

“Are we done? My face can hardly hold the smile any longer.”

Lu Ban urged.

“Just a moment!”

Wang Qing didn’t bother with it any further, snapping several photos in quick succession before packing up the camera.

“It shouldn’t be broken…”

He muttered to himself, then looked towards Lu Ban again.

“So, I’ve prepared a few questions. First, um, what made you choose to shoot thriller and horror videos? We all know that this genre is relatively niche, and few directors become famous through it.”

“To be honest, it’s not that I chose the horror thriller genre, but rather, the genre chose me. If possible, I’d also like to make epic blockbusters or heartwarming films, but unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance yet.”

Lu Ban spoke frankly.

“Is that so?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Qing thought Lu Ban was pretty good at showing off. A normal person might say something about their own strengths or background influence, but not him; he went straight for ‘the genre chose me,’ a phrase typically said by a genius with exceptional talent, and usually not by themselves but as others’ evaluation.

“We all know that whether it’s your videos or movies, you generally take the lead role in the adventures. Have you ever thought about choosing other actors to be the protagonist?”

Wang Qing continued with his questions.

“I’ve never considered this aspect. As of now, only I can star in my movies.”

Lu Ban continued earnestly.

“Do you mean that others may not be able to match your acting skills?”

“No, I think others might not be able to endure the filming process.”

Lu Ban replied. Although he wasn’t sure if the video material could be shot from someone else’s point of view, if it were anyone other than the Chosen by Gods, he feared they wouldn’t last until the end of the task.

“Quite confident, aren’t you.”

Wang Qing commented with a hint of admiration before raising another question.

“So, what ideas do you want to convey to the audience through the plot of these thriller and horror films?”

“I’ve merely documented what I’ve seen and heard. Interpretations are up to each individual. If there’s anything I’d like to express, it’s to cherish life.”

Lu Ban said solemnly.

“Is that so…”

Wang Qing found Lu Ban’s idea somewhat unconventional.

“Also, I’ve learned that you visited the already demolished Nanhua Private Renji Hospital recently. Did you go there for material? Is your next film related to it?”

“Yes, that’s right. In fact, my next film is already in production, and I plan to participate in the upcoming Yannan University Student Film Festival, hoping to win an award.”

The best quality about Lu Ban was his honesty.

“That’s really big news, but, but isn’t the Yannan University Student Film Festival just next month? Is there enough time to prepare the film?”

Wang Qing immediately perked up his ears, regarding it as an exclusive scoop.

“There should be no issue. Actually, I’ve already prepared a short segment of the film. Would you like to take a look?”

Lu Ban’s words completely astounded Wang Qing.
