Chapter 116 - 116 115. Invader_1

Chapter 116: 115. Invader_1 Chapter 116: 115. Invader_1 “A burglar?”

Lu Ban didn’t rush to the door.

Instead, he made a phone call to He Youwu to report the crime.

It was already night, and if the intruder had any weapons, Lu Ban felt that as a common citizen, it would be difficult for him to confront them. At this time, it was better not to act tough and honestly seek help from the police.

“What’s the matter? Didn’t you go out to gather materials?”

He Youwu’s voice, tinged with impatience, rang out, as it seemed it wasn’t his shift.

“I’ve finished collecting materials, and I’ve found a penny on the side of the road,”

Lu Ban casually replied.

“?”

He Youwu seriously wondered if Lu Ban was joking with him.

“Also, there might be a burglar in my house, and I’m at the door now.”

“A burglar?”

He Youwu’s previously irritated mood suddenly tensed up.

What valuable things did Lu Ban have at home besides that computer that couldn’t mine cryptocurrencies? His home wasn’t worth burglarizing!

This was probably not a burglar but…

“A serial killer?”

He Youwu alerted, then hastily spoke to Lu Ban.

“Don’t act rashly, the intruder could be very dangerous. We’re dispatching people immediately. If he leaves, don’t try to stop him, just remember his features.”

“I understand,”

Lu Ban responded, hanging up the phone, then took another glance at the dim figure beside him.

“You watch here; I’ll go around the other side.”

He soon reached the fire escape.

The window here led outside, and after a thought, Lu Ban climbed out directly.

The thirteenth floor was quite high, but his agility allowed him to quickly move along the wall to his own window.

Lu Ban was thankful he wasn’t in the habit of locking his windows. Pushing open the living room window, he tumbled into the house.

The house was empty, not looking like anyone had been inside.

He moved quietly, looking around.

“The restroom? Or the bedroom?”

Guessing where the intruder might be hiding, after pondering for a moment, Lu Ban moved toward the restroom.

Fifteen minutes earlier.

He arrived beneath a building in the residential complex.

“This is the place,”

he muttered to himself.

This was the home of his current target.

Honestly, he did not like how things were unfolding.

For him, killing wasn’t a means but an end.

Since awakening to this hobby years ago, he pursued murder like watching movies or playing video games.

When addicted, he would kill continuously, just like he couldn’t stop playing games.

But he disliked what he had to do now.

He wasn’t killing because he wanted to, but because he had to eliminate this person.

This person had seen his face and linked him with those previous cases.

The exposure of his years of concealment enraged him, compelling him to kill this man.

It was a pity, he heard the man was an internet celebrity.

He checked his gloves and the knives in his pocket; these were his companions.

Of course, he knew the police might use this man as bait and a trap to catch him, but he couldn’t restrain his anger. If he couldn’t kill this man immediately, he would be restless.

He easily unlocked the door and entered the house.

He had observed the man’s routines for a long time and knew that he had just left for dinner and wouldn’t be back soon.

He planned to hide in the wardrobe and wait for the moment when the man was caught off guard to kill him, dismember, and display him, just like those he had killed before.

Upon seeing that after all those years, he felt his past twenty years of life were completely wasted.

The much more real world was within reach, yet he was still mired in fake social relationships, what a waste!

He closed the door silently, as if it had never been opened, and with light steps crossed the living room, heading towards the bedroom.

Clang—

Suddenly, as he passed by the restroom, a noise came from there.

He immediately became alert and pulled out the folding knife from his pocket.

“Could there be someone else?”

He remembered that this man sometimes had a woman with him, living in the same complex, looking like a couple. Could that woman be at home now?

He looked towards the bathroom.

On the floor, a bottle of shampoo was still slightly rocking, as if it had just fallen off the shelf.

He stood at the door and confirmed, the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom, there were no other people.

Indeed, there were no other people.

“The wind?”

He walked into the bathroom, bent over, ready to pick up that bottle of shampoo.

Just then, he was startled to see, beside the shampoo, an eye in the drain of the sink staring at him.

Thud——

His heartbeat missed a half beat, he blinked, and that eyeball seemed to disappear again.

He looked carefully at the drain and only saw some wet women’s hair nearby.

“An illusion?”

He put the shampoo back on the shelf, turned around, ready to leave.

But as he turned his head, he saw something extra in the bathroom mirror for an instant.

He stopped his motion.

Slowly, very slowly, he turned to look at the mirror.

The mirror was exactly reflecting his appearance, a perfect match.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

But in the mirror, his image’s mouth twitched, revealing a sinister smile.

“!!!”

He stepped back, rubbing his eyes.

In the mirror was still himself, every movement an exact duplicate, no smile to be seen.

“Weird…”

He muttered to himself, walked out of the bathroom, and stepped into the bedroom.

The bedroom curtains were half-drawn, and the light from the opposite building came through, making it quite bright.

He opened the wardrobe door, glanced inside, and hurriedly squeezed in.

As the door shut, he found himself surrounded by darkness.

That’s when some realization dawned on him.

“When I closed the wardrobe door just now, was there something inside the wardrobe?”

He felt his heartbeat pick up a bit.

He was a man who never believed in ghosts and deities.

If there really were ghosts, wouldn’t those he had killed have come for revenge by now?

Since he was fine now, that meant there were no ghosts in this world.

He reassured himself with these thoughts.

Then, he saw, right in front of his face inside the wardrobe, a pair of eyes staring back at him.

The eyes were somewhat yellowish, and the whites were full of blood vessels, looking fierce and terrifying.

“!!!”

Subconsciously, he pushed the wardrobe door open and stumbled out, falling to the ground.

Looking back, there was nothing but clothes inside the wardrobe.

“An illusion?”

He turned back around, facing right under the bed.

He saw that under the bed, a ludicrously comical doll was slowly lifting its head within the deep shadows, revealing a creepy smile. The heavily made-up eyes brimmed with spite, chilling to the bone.

“Fuck!”

Unable to hold back, he cursed out loud and immediately got up, trying to leave the bedroom.

But suddenly a hand reached out from under the bed and grabbed his trouser leg.

“Weird! Weird! Weird!”

He cursed several times, shook off the hand, and hurried towards the front door.

This house was just too bizarre!!!

He decided to abandon his plan for murder, wanting to leave this haunted house immediately.

But as he had just turned the doorknob and hadn’t yet had the chance to push the door open, he felt something pressing down on his shoulder.

He looked back instinctively, and when he saw that thing, his voice got stuck in his throat. Before he could let it out, he was dragged back by some force.

Leaving only the door ajar, waiting for its owner.
